This is actually a pretty sturdy tripod. I bought it to hold my camcorder for the many "kid" events we take part in. It should hold virtually any minicam with no problem. I also thought it would work well for the occassional family photos with smaller point and shoot cameras. It is perfect for both.
It is small and easy to carry yet plenty functional for occassional users. I actually think most advanced users would find it meets their needs as well. It is plenty strong enough for most SLR lens combos. You'd have to have a pretty big telephoto lens to need a stronger tripod. It should also last through quite a few uses as well.
It is easy to set up for maximum height but takes some fussing to adjust the leg segments for use at lower heights or unequal footings.

2 of 5 Cheap and flimsy Sunday, October 19, 2008 A Customer from Newton, NH
Very flimsy tripod not suitable for using with a camera of any value, might be useful for off camera strobe. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Just perfect! Saturday, October 18, 2008 Ed from San Jose, CA
I love it! I've used it several times already and its stable. Although it requires a little bit more effort to setup at times when you don't want it at its maximum height, I still think its should be worth a lot more than what I got it for.
Btw, my camera doesn't have a huge lens but its not a small camera. I'm sure if you have huge lenses then you won't have trouble thinking about investing with the more expensive tripods. ;) Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Compact Light Duty Table Top TriPod Saturday, October 18, 2008 A Customer from Phoenix AZ
Small and compact, light duty tripod. I am not sure I would put 8.8 lbs on it, but how many camera's weigh that much with a short lens? Good for non moving or SLOW moving outdoor macro photography, which is what I got it for!!!! Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 great compact tripot Saturday, October 18, 2008 A Customer from NJ
I had a similar one long for some 20 years but lost it during a vacation. i was looking for one like this for a while, and bought a few but were not satisfied because either they were too big and heavy or too short. This has very attractive chrom coating, and extend quite long. It apears very sturdy. you may not want to put your dSLRs on it, but it would be perfect for all compact cameras. I am thinking of buying two more just in case I lose this one again. Was this review helpful?
