    The VGA splitter is installed between my dual boot PC (XPP and Ubuntu), LCD monitor and HDTV. Initially, Ubuntu displayed in 1024x768x16.7M colors on the LCD and HDTV, but XPP only displayed in 640x480x16 colors. Unplugging and replugging the VGA cable to resolved the problem. The splitter is smaller than you might think - about the size of a pack of smokes.
