My new laptop only has 3 USB ports, which is woefully inadequate. I was looking for a 3 to 5 port hub with an AC power adapter, and stumbled on this 3 port usb hub and card reader. It is plug and play - so my computer recognized it immediately and downloaded whatever drivers were needed, and it worked as advertised. It is very light-weight, and while I do wish it was heavier (as it has a tendency to fall from my desk), I can throw it in my bag and carry it anywhere. It is simple to use and you would be hard pressed to find a better and cheaper alternative. I recommend it highly. Was this review helpful?

I got this to consolidate some of my desktop clutter. Combining a USB hub and media reader just makes so much sense! This little unit is quite compact and works just fine with all the devices and media I have used it with. I keep my phone cord and a mini-usb plugged in at all times and it works great. So far I have found this card reader / USB hub to work quite well for the money that I spent on it. I will say that the feel of the unit is quite cheap. But the only real draw back is that the cable provided is really short. I luckily had a USB extension already or else I would have had to buy that as well. Was this review helpful?

comes with a power adapter and USB connector.
when you add a media card it automatically adds an icon in my computer,just click on the icon and view and download photos,music and videos from card to computer.
or drag media from your computer to the icon in my computer to add photos music or videos or even script to the card if you want to transfer to other systems or take them with you.
the Aluratek 3-Port USB 2.0 Hub with Card Reader will run with or with out the power adaptor.
