The primary problem with the system is the wires. They are too long for most users, and too short for hang-up-on-the-wall sorts. The remote is a great addition, but it too is wired. The sub is powerful, but awkwardly placed cords make it too easy to roll over (it is round with feet). The system is powerful and a great quality. For a cheap user, not willing to spend at or near the hundreds of dollars mark, this system is perfect.

I was looking for a decent 2.1 surround system for my notebook computer, and that is what I got. Nothing to spectacular, but good sound and looks for what I paid. The only negative thing to add is it would be nice if it had a remote control instead of the ten-foot cable to control the volume and plug in a headset.

these little speakers..they are excellent! for music and movie and for internet phone. for this price I couldn't ask for more. Just love it!

This speaker is too good for the money you spend for it. Not only for gaming but use it as your usual music player and TV. The looks are impressive too. Only problem is that, it doesn't ship with a male to male stereo cable with it, which is required if you want to connect it with Laptop or Ipod. But that's easily available at any electronic store. Highly recommended !!

I am using this product from buy.com 6 months back and the performance of these speakers is awesome although they look weird. I connected these speakers to my laptop through a cable which you can get easily for less than $5. I got the entire setup ready for less than $23. Over all I will give 5 out of 5 for this.

I love these...they are the best speakers ive ever had. I mad ehtem work for my computer...they just hook into the aux port. they work just fine no problems... lots of bass...and everything else.

I was just looking for some cheap speakers that will throw some sound out and ironically these speakers are very loud and clear. You will be very surprised! The speakers are excellent for the price and the sub will throw descent amount of bass. Although the looks arent too attractive, the price is hard to beat.

I am a CD producer and a musician. We mix on $2000 speakers. These little computer speakers are clear and responsive. I was pleasantly suprised when I played a reference CD through a wave file. Best speakers I have ever heard. I hope they offer them again for all of those who missed this great buy.

Hi, I really recommend you this product, this is great, I can't belive it is this cheap, sound quality is excellent, excellent extra bass, easy installation (color coded)... a must have.

bought this december '04 Set-up: Easy. No problems there. As long as the jack fits, that's where you need to put it. Use: Dial Volume control and buttons. Just connected it to my laptop and enjoy the loudness w/o ruining my laptop's speakers. you may need to set up the location/position of the speakers to enjoy the best acoustics of the room, but aside from that this product is really bang for the buck!

This is my first speaker system that I've bought. It was very easy to install and once you kick on the max bass butten, wow... That has so much kick for such a cheap system. I would highly recommend this!

I bought two sets of these baby's. Connected one set to my PC. WoW. An outstanding product and the look is unique. The wired remote is a major bonus. I got mine for $17 and change free shipping and no tax!!!! Buy.com is the greatest. I give it a "4" because they should have put material that conceals the speakers. Otherwise, awesome!!!

Best $18 ever spent on an item bought from Buy.com. Great sound, love the remote volume control and very easy setup. As mentioned above, only cost $18, but worth a lot more. Will order more for friends and families.

I bought these for my son's computer. Even when they are cranked all the way up (the way he likes to listen to them ) there is minimal distortion. I can't believe they are only $20.00 speakers. Only glitch is you need to use an adaptor to use them on a computer.

I am an independent record producer and work in $$$ recording studios. These little monitor speakers are more than worth the $20 I paid for them. Nice even response with a kick on the bottom end when you need it. The remote would be better served if it was IR, but a small factor. Altecs design is very retro and out of the norm, very cool. If you want some exceptional computer speakers at a very reasonable price this is it!!!

I ordered two sets of these babies! What a simply amazing value. I got mine for $17 and some change. Hooked one set up on my PC tonight. WoW. The best I've had! I don't know how BUY.com can sell them for under $20. Great crisp sound. Great bass. The look is awsome. And the control pad is great. Did I say how great these are? I see they are out of stock after the sale. I would not hesitate ordering a couple sets and hopefully they will get them back in stock...Way to go BUY.com!!! Another great product and value. The sub really puts out! I was shocked at the sound pressure that this set is capable of generating, and with no clipping or distortion. My desk was literally shaking with the volume control at 75%. It is not the most attractive form factor, but I can overlook that for the low, low cost. Too bad it sold out so fast. If there are ever anymore, I am going to buy them all!

When it comes to speaker systems that cost $20, normally one shouldn't expect much more than a tin can-type sound but this one might surprise you. Aesthetically, it looks... different, to say the least. Preferably, it should be next to your game console but it can be used for TV and other applications. It just depends on the complexion on your room and how much mismatching you'll tolerate. The satellite "cabinets" look imposing but the actual driver isn't terribly big. The subwoofer looks like an atom bomb of the '40s. Personally, I like it. Performance-wise, it's very good (for it's price range). I've turned the system up all the way and there was no distortion coming from the satellites but don't overdrive the woofer. It'll give you some punch but only to a certain point. However, when driven at its optimal level, it's a great system. If you're able to find this system, buy it. It might be priced like a bargain system but it performs a few echelons higher. Cosmetically it's in its own class. If you have a TV or console that's just begging for expanded sound, get this. You won't be disappointed.

Wow. What a deal i got in these speakers. For $17.99 on buy.com it's a blessing. I would have paid twice the amount, the speakers are just blew me. Excellent output, loud and clear, you can blast the music, just as i like it. Much better than the harmon kardon i owned before. I have attached these to my computer, had to buy an extra cable from walmart for $4.65 but the deal is too good to be true. Look a bit awkward but that does not matter to me. The woofer is BIG and ready to launch. best deal i ever got.

Other than buying a big dollar system there is no other setup that delivers this kind of bang for the buck. I was immediately impressed with the ease of setup and great sound these have compared to my $1,000 Sony VVEGA's speakers. They sounded so good I had to get another. With free shipping and a rebate these wont last long!

I bought a set of these for $19.99 and couldn'be happier(Unless I had waited a week and got the $2 rebate). There is no distortion even at full volume,it has good full bass .The wired remote is great as I tend to misplace things.If you need a set of great speakers at a great price you can't go wrong with these. I never write reviews BTW.Just had to for this deal.

I ordered these speakers based on the reviews I had read, but for $20, I didn't really expect that much. That's OK, because I intended to buy them for my kids' computer and they didn't really need anything very high end. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. These speakers sound GREAT. I tried to convince my kids that we should trade, but they aren't biting. At first I thought the wired remote was a little hoky, but it's much more convenient than adjusting the volume through the computer's volume control. I may just have to order a second setup for myself.

i saw that these speakers were pretty cheap, so i thought if they didn't work out, i wouldn't be out of a lot of money. lo and behold, these are so worth the money. i actually received the 40 watt speakers and putting it together was so easy. I totally recommend these speakers.

Overall I am impressed with the sound from these speakers; however, they do not come with a cable to connect to your PC like I had planned for them. Maybe I did't read enough, but they will work well with my TV and X-Bbox which they are more geared to anyway.

These speakers are positioned as gaming / TV speakers but work fine as PC speakers too. They accept RCA-style inputs (left/right) and 1/8" stereo alternate input. The speakers have a wired remote, which might not seem like a great feature when you just read about it. However, the remote has the power button, a nice smooth volume control, 3 EQ settings, and two headphone jacks. With my previous speakers I had to fumble around for the volume control on one of the satellites. And for late-night Unreal Tournament sessions that require headphones, I'd be on the floor unplugging my speakers and plugging in the headphone cord. With the XA 3021s I can plug right into the remote, no cable change required. For small speakers, the sound is great too. I'm tempted to buy another pair just because they're such a great value.

Just ordered a 2nd set of these...I was REALLY skeptical of them. Hooked them up and was mind blown...I've always loved the sound of Altec Lansing speakers. Didn't really believe these would be all that from the looks and the price. Boy was I wrong. This is an awesome little sound system!

These sound awesome! and for the price you can't beat these. The speakers are 40 watt and for the size they rock! They are also very cool looking and you can tell that they are a quality speaker system. You will not be disappointed.

I got the speakers 2/3 weeks ago. The set up was not immediate, as the power supply connector did not fit well into the appropriate plug on the subwoofer box. After solving that problem, the speakers are now connected to my office computer, a PowerMac G4. The sound is great, cannot still believe I paid $19.99 delivered by Fedex ground to my door for the whole thing. Normally, Fedex delivery alone cost is $8 to $12..........Thanks for the great deal.

I have always purchased and been very pleased with Altec Lansing products, but this one is the icing on the cake! My husband has been in many rock bands and even he was blown away by the size and sound of these great looking speakers. It does not say that they are for a computer (which is what I purchased them for), but if you go and purchase a stereo audio component cable (just a few bucks) there is a plug in on the bass speaker for that and of course your PC has the plug in for that as well. I am going to order 2 more sets for the price and how terrific they are for the televisions in the smaller bedrooms. Well worth the $20 and free shipping!!!!

I used these speakers for one of my computers. I had to get an additional cable to do it. The end result: These are the best $20.00 I have ever seen! If they we for sale for list price I would have choose something else. The sound quality is that of a mid-range boom box.

I loved the funky retro looks of this item and I happened to be in the market for some new speakers. Thought what can I lose if they're terrible it's only $20. Plugged them in (you will need an eighth inch stereo cable to hook them up to a computer) and was completely blown away. Buy.com... my wallet thanks you and I thank you.

The speakers are as small as you'd think from the picture, but the subwoofer is much larger than I thought it would be. This system is primarily designed for gaming and TV usage, not so much for PC or MP3 playes. However it has an auxilary socket for 1/8 input (cable not included, but $3 in any radioshack). The sound quality is great, really fills up the room. The sound is crisp and makes this a great value for anyone who has a TV that could be better or just wants low price great sound for an mp3 player at home for $20. It has a nice Metropolis look to it, overall highly recomend the buy.

Hard to beat for $20, but if you expect $200 quality, it ain't here. I connected this to my DVD/CD player hoping to replace my aging stereo amp and speakers that are getting flaky. It is an ok sound system if you are not picky or want the sound party loud. At low volume the sound is much better than the tiny tv speakers. As you approach mid to loud volume the amp becomes noticably overdriven. The resulting distortion is very objectionable. This unit was so cheap it is not worth the bother to return it and will work until I can afford a real sound system. Again, for $20, it is a very good deal, but not a miraculous one.

For the Money, I don't think you can beat the price. The sound is better than many higher price speakers, and plus it looks cool. The sound is very clear, the highs are good and the bass is very good. If you are looking for a set to watch movies and listening to music. This is great, especially for the money.

Not only are these very nice speakers, with a well designed cable connection system, but the wired remote controller is very convenient and simple to use. Want privacy? There are two connectors on the controller for headphones. The controller includes a swivel volume control and a couple of preset buttons for equalizer presets. You have to accept the fact that the subwoofer looks like a little black bomblet and the oversize lime green logo wouldn't be my choice. They were obviously going for the youth/gamer market. But you don't even have to actually NEED a set of speakers for these to be a MUST BUY.

These altec lansing speakers sound great. I bought them because of the other wonderful reviews and they were all right! I have had these speakers for 1 week now connected to my computer and the sound quality is phenomenal (for $20 speakers). You are definitly getting your money's worth!

I bought the speakers recently (more because of the price drop) and was totally thrilled by what the little bomb shaped things can do! They are perfect for gaming and for watching movies. Racing games are especially good with these speakers. They are very compact and usually catch peoples eye as soon as they see it. I have tried many different kinds of input including the output from a headphone jack on my TV and it works just great! Its a must get at this price!

$19.99 and free shipping currently. What a steal! I replaced a set of sub-par speakers that probably cost me the same amount several years ago. I now consider my PC a multi media center, these things sound great! I am actually considering replacing my surround sound for my TV with these, they sound really nice. Plus we have kids that go to bed early and we are always worried about waking them because the TV is too loud, the remote (corded) that comes with these speakers has to headphones jacks in it. Nice feature for my wife and I to watch a movie as whatever level we want without disturbing our kiddos!. Bottom line, well worth the $20!
