I bought these to use with my new Acer notebook. The speakers are a bit larger and heavier than I'd expected, which is really all to the good -- heavier speakers are usually better, and these are great speakers, especially for this price. Larger size doesn't hurt because they're mostly vertical and have a very small footprint. Particularly nice is that they're already connected (no wires to lose) and they plug into an AC socket with a standard plug -- not one of those pesky big power bricks; the power supply is built into the left speaker. Finish is very nice, controls have a smooth quality feel. I'm going to buy another pair to replace the speakers on one of my desktop systems. I've used Altec Lansing for many years, and have never been disappointed yet.
