4.7 of 5 Altec Lansing IM9 5/18/2009
Robert Cole from Pensacola, FL
Great little system. The Aux also makes you laptop sound awesome with an optional stereo mini plug (m/m) Sound is decent but not a lot of controls to change it. You can sync you Ipod right from the case since the Ipod cable plugs into the back of the IM9. All in all a great buy!

5 of 5 IM9 awesome ipod speaker for the price! 5/4/2009
from H1 Ewa Bound!
The altec lansing IM9 speaker system is awesome. The convenience of being able to use it with batteries (4 C Batteries)is a plus. Only wish that it could charge the ipod while on battery power. Also not having a remote is somewhat of an inconvenience, but the sound quality makes up for it. My friends who have heard the speaker can't believe something so small sounds that good!

5 of 5 GREAT SOUND, even at triple the price 5/1/2009
David from Salt Lake City, UT
Owned mine for about a year now, and it still sounds like a high-end sound system. Size vs sound quality is deceptive, as it sounds LARGER and BETTER than it appears in size. I tested many before choosing this. Even after one year, I still cannot find anything better, especially for this price range. And contrary to what a previous reviewer said, (that user is wrong), your iPod WILL CHARGE INSIDE THIS UNIT when AC power supply (included) is used.

5 of 5 Easy to like 4/24/2009
Matt from Cleveland OH
Works as advertised. Good sound at all levels. Doesn't charge the iPod, but I can deal with that. The stand in back is a little hard to find, but there is one - it'll fall over until you find it.

5 of 5 Fantastic Sound Quality 4/17/2009
MH from Saratoga Springs, NY
This product has terrific sound quality and plenty of volume for indside the house. No bass or treble adjustment but that doesn't detract from the quality of sound. Great unit at any price.

5 of 5 Great Speaker! 4/1/2009
Tony from Gilbert, AZ
This is an awesome speaker system. I have just bought my second one to have a dedicated travel unit. The unit produces great sound, even at higher volumes. I have been able to get 17 hours of play out of one set of rechargeable batteries. It once dropped from a four foot counter onto a concrete floor. The unit (and my iPod) completely survived! My only complaint, and it is a minor one, is the design of the a/c power input. It sticks out of back which prevents the unit from sitting flat on its back. Definitely would still highly recommend.

5 of 5 Great little stereo 3/27/2009
from PHX, AZ
Sounds great. Easy to carry around. Been using it in my car while my stereo install is under way. Only down side is it doesn't fit iPhones. I should have known, because it doesn't list it as a compatible item, but I didn't read too closely. It works, but doesn't charge the iPhone, and the door won't close. It will play just fine with the door open though. It does close if you take off the front silver piece, and jam it shut, but it puts pressure on the top power button, and I'm sure isn't too good on the phone. A little Dremeling may get it to fit. But, there's always the aux jack... Overall a great little stereo. Quite pleased with it.

5 of 5 Unusually good and fantastic sound. Great value. 2/3/2009
from USA
First the warning, I am an audiophile whose main system consists of Krell amp, Conrad Johnson tube pre amp, and Koetsu Rosewood stylus (yes a turntable -- LOL), so please take this review with a grain of salt.
Kidding aside, while the iM9 is not a high-end device, it has completely surprised me with its full and warm sound. Unlike most portable ipod players, which use tiny 1 inch size drivers that result in strident, harsh, and an unbalanced & teeny sound, the iM9 use what look to be about a 1 inch PLUS a 3 inch driver per side. This is the key to its success. The result is a fantastic full sound with excellent high & low freq response for a portable player. The best I've heard for player in this category of small portable ipod player. And it could play loud. For its intended use and considering the incredibly cheap price, I give it the highest recommendation. Without hesitation.
PS: Although I don't use or recommend the following function, for anyone interested, remember you could tailor the sound to your liking by going through the ipod's menu, to "equalizer," and play around with the various settings to adjust the frequency balance of the sound.

5 of 5 Great Product! 1/8/2009
Happy Customer from Wilson, NC
This was a Christmas present for my son. He loves it! The sound quality is amazing. You can crank up the volume and still have clear crisp sound. I highly recommend the inMotion iM9 Mobile Speaker System. It's also easy to haul around from place to place.

4.7 of 5 Great portable iPod speaker system! 10/13/2008
jsoz from Sacramento, CA
This has to be the best portable iPod speaker system. It's fairly compact, your iPod is protected by the speaker system, it plays for hours on 4 'C' batteries, and puts out a remarkable amount of sound for such a small system. The included carrying case makes it easy to haul around. The only downside - no remote control.
Overall, a great choice when you're outdoors with your iPod.

5 of 5 Stop Looking! 7/1/2008
A happy customer from Canton, MI
This is a great system! Portability with the carrying case enhances that aspect as well. When the ipod was first turned on and we heard the music we were extremely pleased this was the system we purchased.
There are no negatives. Installation, performance, ease of use -- all 5 stars. VALUE??? Absoulutely, especially when purchased at Buy.Com. Stop looking, this is your unit!

4.7 of 5 All good, except what Apple took away! 3/8/2008
brithor52 from Havana, Florida
The sound is really wonderful for such a small box. It makes watching movies and videos a treat. The free back pack is really too small to carry the iM9 unless you work hard to squeeze it in there. A battery life indicator would be nice. The only way we know when to replace the batteries is when the sound gets a little weird. For example, when the batteries get low enough, at higher volumes the low bass enhancer fails to enhance. The bass drum just goes "clunk."
One of the features that lured me to purchase this unit was the video pass thru output jack on the back. Unfortunately Apple removed that feature in the new iPod Classic (according to Altec support) so there's nothing to pass from iPod to thru jack.
The unit is well built and feels indestructible.
At the price I paid ($89 US) it is impressive. I'd buy another if I were in the market for one.

5 of 5 10 stars would be appropriate 2/9/2008
from upstate NY
With this item on the market, there is no need to buy a BOSE system for your ipod. I've tried/used both and to be honest, this sounds much better. It's an absolute bargain for what it delivers: rugged ability to use anywhere crisp sound, full sound range, and a minimalistic footprint.
If there is any negative, it's that most protective skins do not allow you to place the ipod in the cradle with them over the player.
Buy this.

These speakers sound great! They are the best sound for the price. Other portable system sound tinny. This system give a good all around sound and has good bass.

5 of 5 The Best IPOD Portable Spekers For The Money 3/26/2007
Alvaro Zavala from Miami, FL
I needed an Ipod Speaker system that was portable, small enough for my office desk, and good sound. On paper, the iM9 seemed to match these needs and judging by its big brother's reviews, the iM7, I figured it would make a good buy. My firts impressions exceeded my expectations. This is a great sounding system, for its size. I can't believe the sound that comes out of such a small package. It makes for great ambient sound in my office, or small rooms; I've used it by the pool also and will take it to the beach as soon as summer rolls around. It is advertised as "splash and shock resistant" and the build quality confirms it. My complain is shared with some reviews I read prior to buying, as it does not come with a remote control. There is a possible solution to this, as the iM9 comes with a rear bottom dock, the same as you find at the bottom of the Ipod. This allows for a remote control connection, such as that of Ijet remotes or even the Monster iEZclick remote, as the receiver of these remotes simply connects to the bottom dock. I yet have to tesk this, but it looks like it should work.
