4 of 5 Good Earphone for the price Wednesday, March 25, 2009
Jerry from N. California

I am using these while jogging with my Sansa View player, and they work very well. Traffic sounds are not completely blocked out though, and it would be nice to have a little more bass and a lanyard to hang them around my neck. All in all, a very good deal.

4 of 5 excellent value, good sound Wednesday, March 25, 2009
CA Smith from Tampa, FL
I bought these on the basis of other reviews on this site and I find them as described. They are a little short on the low end but not badly so. The over the ear feature works much better than I expected. Ear buds in general tend to be a bit fussy for me but I am happy with these.

4 of 5 It's not the best, but enough for normal listners Tuesday, March 24, 2009
Mark Yu from West Lafayette, Indiana
Comparing with other kernel earphones similar prices, Sound quality is better than others. As you know, this earbud is an OEM version of Ultimate Ears (UE) super fi 3 studio. The shape, the single driver included, and wiring are same, except the case. It makes you less touch noise becase of wiring type. I bought this on sale and am satisfied with sound quality so much. You can be look like 'Frankenstein' when you're wearing this.

5 of 5 Awesome in ear 'phones for the price Monday, March 16, 2009
A Customer from Omaha, NE
These re-branded UE headphones rock! I got an awesome price on them through buy.com so they are an even better value than if I would have paid the full price. I read about people having problems with the bass response and complaining of it lacking, but it really doesn't. It's VERY IMPORTANT that you seal the phones to your ear canal properly. I tried every size of included ear piece until I found the right combination. I also wasn't pushing them into my ear properly, so when I finally did, they were like a new pair of headphones. The bass was/is awesome after I did that. I find that it helps to pull them out and clean the silicone ear pieces a few times throughout the day to keep the ultimate seal intact. I wear them all day at work in an office and have no problems with my glasses rubbing the wires or fatigue. I listen to everything from Jazz, techno to rock and a tiny bit of rap, and it all sounds great on these 'phones. The only other pair of headphones I would compare these to are my Sennheiser HD 250-II Binaural 'phones. Those are big "cans" and sound great, but aren't the most practical for an office environment. These in ears are much more portable and offer sound quality that is very close in some aspects.

5 of 5 What else can I say it's Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 3 Monday, March 16, 2009
A Customer from Fort Lauderdale, FL
These are licensed Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 3. Musicians headphones, not for HipHop, Rap or Thump Thump music listeners, or somebody expecting Rock with heavy bass. You are going to listen to music as it really sound with lots of detail you haven't heard before. The secret is finding the right ear tip to seal the ear canal. These ear plugs are awesome. These are my second pairs, my first pair are original Ultimate Ears branded, these are for backup.

4 of 5 Have to take the bitter with the sweet! Saturday, March 14, 2009
A Customer from Hollister, MO
The stereo earphones are not marked left and right as specified in the direction phamphlet...would be much easier to put on if they were. I guess my ears must be much smaller than the normal person as I have tried all the pieces that came with them and none fit my ear...difficult to get them in place. The wire is very stiff and does not lay well. I like the over the ear wire that holds them in place, which I have not had in the past. Once one gets the earphones in the appropriate ear and manhandles the wires where they are comfortable and not in the way, listening is a real pleasure....the sound is excellent!

5 of 5 good stuff Wednesday, March 11, 2009
A Customer from Princeton,NJ
I recently decided to finally upgrade my BlackBerry curve headphones which came standard with the device. They were beyond poor sound quality. Buy.com first had Radius Atomic bass headphones on sale and after reading good reviews, I got a set. A week later, Altec Lansing UHP306 went on sale so I got those and as I was waiting for them in the mail, UHP336 went on sale too so I got a pair as well. In the mean time I borrowed my friend's high end Shure SE530 to compare. I personally couldn't really tell the difference between UHP306, UHP336 and Shure except Shure had a bit stronger bass which is obviously design/implementation advantage. But definitely not worth few extra hundreds $$$. Radius set is way better than BlackBerry or standard Ipod headphones, but not comparable to these higher end sets, it just feels off when you plug one after the other. The advantage of UHP336 over 306 is that you get a cleaning tool and more ear caps and they're a bit easier to adjust since they have larger body. Which brings me to the only negative I have about these... they don't sit firm in my ears unless I don't move too much. If I turn my head a bit left or right, the cord slightly tightens and loosens and they don't seal as well anymore. I haven't tried the foam inserts yet, maybe they provide perfect and tight seal. I think a good (or custom) set of caps/inserts would do the trick.

5 of 5 Heavy Duty Phones with BIG sound Tuesday, March 10, 2009
Jon from St Petersburg, FL
First of all, these things are BIG and the cord is very heavy duty. If you're looking for light-weight phones for running, you may want to look somewhere else. And, if you have small ear canals, same deal because the transducers stick out pretty far and they're heavy. With that said? The sound is wonderful. Deep and clean bass and really crisp highs that rival expensive speakers. I listen to rock, pop and country - no rap - so the bass is more than adequate for me. I bought these Altec-Lansings to replace a set of Creative EP-630's and the Altecs produce much better sound. If you can handle the weight and the extra thick stiff cord you can't go wrong with these phones. I paid $25 on special at Buy.com, by the way.

4 of 5 Addendum to my Original Review Monday, February 23, 2009
David from Chicago, IL
I am continuing to enjoy these earbud phones, especially now that I have properly modified them. Since they are simply rebranded Ultimate Ears Superfi 3 studio phones I purchased a replacement cord which is better (more flexible, less noticable during physical activity). Also, as another reviewer suggested, the Comply T-500 foam tips are far better. The bass becomes solid and balanced and the fit and comfort are greatly improved. Cost of these useful mods doubles the price to $80. Now you have a great set of earbuds - price not so dazzling but still cheaper than UE superfi 3 studio.

4 of 5 Great Headphones but beware! Saturday, January 03, 2009
A Customer from Austin. TX
I was looking for a pair of clear sounding earphones with a crisp sound and I got it the only gripe I had was the tips none really fit that well. I went out and bought the comply foam ear tips. they are very expensive and you can find them with google search. Those complete these earphones sealing the sound much better and made the fit much more comfortable. the stock ear tips might be good for others but they were all not that suitable for me

5 of 5 comfort & sound at the right price Saturday, December 27, 2008
David from Chicago, IL
I bought these at the sale price and liked the integrated ear loop so they would stay in my ear during workouts. (Running especially can loosen buds between the movement and the sweat). As recommended by other reviewers, did a break in period, playing bass heavy material for several days before using. These guys stick out of the ears more than others, however they are very light and ear loops work well to keep them stabilized. Sound is neutral, detailed and natural. I have found that they disappear to my awareness even after wearing for hours. I have V Moda vibes and AudioTechnica CK7 buds to compare to. Much more detailed and musical than vibes. Much lighter and more comfortable than CK7's. They have become my preferred phones. I like the dual flange earpieces as they fit deeper in ear and provide more bass than the single flange earpieces. While I wouldn't mind if there was still more deep end, I suspect that gets to the $150+ range of buds. At the $50 to $75 price these sell for, they are well worth the price and outshine my more expensive buds.

5 of 5 Great headphones Saturday, December 27, 2008
bLak from Claremont
I bought these headphones at a huge discount for $40, and they were a great deal at that price. A solid set of phones with a great range of sounds. I felt the bass could bear some improvement, but, otherwise, I've been very happy.

5 of 5 Excellent Quality and Sound Isolation Friday, December 26, 2008
A Customer from Boston, MA
Compared to other headphones in the price range ($40), this set has excellent highs, mids, and lows. The bass is not overpowering unlike many cheap headphones. This may be a negative for those used to it, but for me, it means much more balanced sound. You can really hear many more details in your music than before. It has very good passive sound isolation, unlike large active noise canceling sets that require separate power sources. These headphones are actually rebranded ultimate ears super.fi 3s, which are highly reviewed despite costing more than twice as much.

3 of 5 Just okay for the money $$$$ Tuesday, December 23, 2008
Tony from Bridgewater NJ
This was one set of numerous ear buds that I currently own... For the money the Altec Lansings are okay. Compared to some of the other well known brands they do not sound as great. For example compared to the Bose ear buds that are a night and day difference. There is not much bass on these earbuds and leave some of the music sounding flat. I have used these on several Sansa palyers as well as ipod touch and classic. I have the same results even altering the EQ's. Don't get me wrong for the money they sound better then some of the the cheaper SONY and Phillips out there. Just unfortunately not as good as the higher end ones available like the BOSE. I just expected more :(

5 of 5 excellent earphone, excellent price Saturday, December 20, 2008
Gerry from Aurora, CO
This Altec is a re-branded Ultimate Ears unit (Super-Fi 3, I believe.) I tried them with several different sources...The sound quality is excellent all across the spectrum, with above-average clarity and just enough bass for my tastes. The UE model has been around for a couple of years, so it's a proven design. Comfortable for long periods, as long as you take the time to try out all the sizes of ear tips to find what's best for you. Ear tip choice is also important for getting the best sound, too. All in all, an excellent choice among ~$100 headphones.

5 of 5 Altec Lansing earbuds, definitely worth their valu Saturday, December 06, 2008
A Customer from Columbus, OH
This is my first experience with Altec Lansing and they didn't let me down. I've owned various high quality brand headphones in the past, and this headphone stacks up pretty well, for $40 it's a great deal. I wouldn't pay anywhere close to the list price ($130) for these though, while they do provide high quality sound and block out all exterior noises while keeping the guy sitting next to you perfectly comfortable in not hearing your music, they do isolate a higher bass town more than the other frequencies, not too much, but enough to notice. I can compensate for this very easily with equalizing. I actually don't mind the small frequency isolation though, I prefer classic rock and other various genres of music in which a higher bass sound is many times preferred. If you're looking for a pair of primary headphones I would not recommend these because they are earbuds and they do isolate a certain frequency, but for a secondary pair of headphones to back up the pair of studio headphones you have, I would definitely recommend these.

5 of 5 Great deal for the sale price Sunday, November 09, 2008
A Customer from Los Angeles, CA
Not sure if these are worth the normal cost, but I bought these on sale ($47) and am happy with my purchase. The low's aren't great, but the rest of the sound is. They come with spare plugs to match your ears, which is nice for those with too big or too small ear canals and seem to have trouble with other kinds of earphones.

3 of 5 Not as good I thought Monday, October 13, 2008
A Customer from Newport Beach, California
I know I didn't read about the description before I purchase this product. It's comfortable, but it's not one of those noise-cancelling ones. yes, I would rather spend a little more for noise-cancelling ones.

4 of 5 Fine Earphones Sunday, October 12, 2008
A Customer from Breaux Bridge LA
The fit takes a little while to get use to, but it works well. The mids and high are excellent. The base is a little to the weak side. For most styles of music, it is an excellent set of earphones. For the few that are nothing but extreme low base, you may want to get a set of good headphones instead. I am happy with my purchase.

3 of 5 OK headphones for simple use Thursday, October 02, 2008
A Customer from Jacksonville, FL
Got these headphones so I could use them while I was at the office. They don't really fit that well in the ear even after trying all of the different fittings they come with. The bass on them is really muddy, but to an average user, you'd consider it OK. The frequency response is decent for them. The wire on them has a stiffener on them right at the point where they meet the actual ear bud so you can bend them around your ear..... crappy design on this.. you look like a retard when you try to bend the chord over your ear.

2 of 5 Overpriced Tuesday, September 30, 2008
A Customer from Denver
I have never had a problem putting any headphones into my ears and having them stay there until I started using these. I would not buy them again and would trade them for my $18 pair of Razer m100 Pro|Solutions Protone In-Ear Earphones. Those are the headphones I would recommend. I thought I was upgrading but am not satisfied.

5 of 5 great earphone Monday, September 29, 2008
Bing from atlanta, GA
I've owned a couple inear earphones from Sony or Audio Technica, which were low end ones. I even swore that I would never buy inear earphones ever again coz of their lack of definition. But since I work in a lab with noisy refridgerators, I decided to give a try to this flagship from Altec Lansing. I was really blown away by it. Rich and detailed sound as advertised plus perfect noise isolation-- I have to use the lowest level of volume on my zen v plus.
