I wanted a small set of speakers for my IPOD that I could tote with me when necessary, but keep setup if need be. For their size, the sound that they produce practically gave me a headache. They are really loud! I would recommend to future buyers.

These are great speakers. They are very compact and easy to carry around. Inspite of being so small, they have reasonable and good sound quality esp. the bass on these speakers is very good. Overall, the speakers are very good value for the money and I would definitely recommend these speakers to a friend.

For the money, hard to beat. Within the same room or even next room, the sound is just fine. As far as quality of sound, lacks a touch of bass, but really for something to listen to while working around the house or just in the background, it is perfectly fine. Pretty heavy construction, well made.

This little box is very powerful. I have used it in a large room full of people (30+) and still had volume to go. The sound quality is excellent. I have also been impressed with the battery life. I have used the first set of batteries for over 15 hours and yet to need a change. Very happy with my purchase. I use mine with my Palm 700p and just plug in the back with the palm adapter for great listening.

I bought this because I already own the Altec Lansing IM7 (which I have been EXTREMELY pleased with) and because we travel a lot, we got the IM5 because of its greater portability. And while I'm very pleased with the size/portability (as well as the included carrying case), it leaves a bit to be desired with regards to sound quality. You can't beat the price though! So, when considering all factors (price/size/sound quality), I'd say we're very pleased with 2 out of 3. But in our case, we have the IM7 for times when sound quality is a higher priority (parties, etc.).

This great portable system was fast delivered to my house using Google checkout. I was excited to see how well the package was designed. It's include cary bag and 5 different plug options for voltages ~110-220V. Good sound quality. You can adjust the volume right on the speakers base. The only one thing that I noticed could be better is a lack of pause button on the base itself. You can pause only on iPod. Also, it does not keep the volume level if you use Power button on the base. For some reason, it returns with the more loude mode. If you operate right from the iPod (pause, volume level and etc, everything works great). I purchased this to use it at work and outdoors. Will recommend!

My son-in-law suggested your product; I liked what I saw and ordered it, it came today. Good things come in little packages and this certinaly fits the bill. I needed a charger for my iPod and with your speakers, I can listen and charge at the same time - I have the best of both. I am no techie and was amazed that I put all the parts together myself without my sil's help. It's size is small and compact (fits in one hand) and the sound is terrific. It's portable and has a carrying case. Great value, great sound, great price. Glad I shopped here. By the way, the shipping was free and I received it the day after I ordered. Outstanding!!

The Altec Lansing IM5 inMotion is an ideal solution for "nomadic" speakers for the iPod. The unit is compact and lightweight and provides the traveler a convenient way to listen to iPod music at a temporary location, for example a hotel room, where speakers will not disturb anyone. It can run on batteries, but it has the additional benefit of charging the iPod if plugged into an electrical outlet.

I was suspect of the quality of this set of speakers based on the price - but I was proved wrong, wrong, wrong. Got it to be used in my bathroom, and charge my Nano GenII iPod. Great sound for the size of it.

I have to say that after reading some of the conflicting reviews I was not sure what to expect. Now that I have the unit, I could not be more pleased! That AL gets this kind of sound out of a unit this small is quite amazing. Granted, nothing this size is going to shake the plaster off of your walls with the bass response--duh. (Those who are leaving revues like this should get in touch with reality.) Bottom line: For the size of this unit and the ease of carrying it around in its little bag, the sound cannot be beat! I am buying 2 more, one for my office and one for a birthday present.

This Altec-Lancing IM5 is a great little unit that packs some really decent sound quality into a small, highly portable package. I was looking for a small speaker package for my UMPC (ultra mobile PC) and MP3 player to bring along on my travels so I can listen to my music in hotel rooms without using my headset. The IM5 was it! It's a good balance between sound quality and portability. Also, the Auxciliary-in is a nice and welcomed feature, as not everyone owns or want an Apple iPod (personally, I feel iPod are over-rated and over priced!). The sound quality is excellent, as expected from Altec Lancing. From a distance the IM5 sounds like a quality mid-size boombox, but don't expect a lot of boom due to its diminutive size. But upclose (when I'm sitting at a desk typing on my UMPC with the IM5 next to it), it gives a decent bass "representation" of the music I'm listening to. If you, however, want that boom-bass sound, you could always add a subwoofer through its built-in sub-out. But that would sort of defeat its portability purpose. What?! I can't have my cake and eat it too! Dang! All-in-all, the IM5 is a great sounding and highly portable little package. Also, I'd took advantage of a great sales promotion at Buy.com. It's not a concert performance but it IS a convenient way to listen to your tunes. It travels well, has a nice case, sounds good. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a speaker to stick in a bedroom or office to listen to your tunes. Small footprint. Overall, I'm happy with mine

For the cost, the iM5 is a great buy. The sound is very good - I received one of the cheaper iPod speaker systems for Christmas, but the sound was horrifying. More importantly for my use in the office, I could not play the cheaper one at low volumes without noise from the unit drowning out the music. The iM5 sounds fine at low volumes and looks okay, too.

It sounds really good, it's portable (with International power adapters) and it looks great. This is a perfect unit to travel with, for the beach and so on. It has the great sound (for its size. For a small system it has some Bass, Reggae/Dancehall sounded IRIE. Here's a tip, set the right EQ for your music, it made a huge difference. Liked the beautiful case and it came with a Power Adapter with changeable International power prongs for overseas trips, how awesome is that? Did I mention it has Sub Out and Composite Video out jacks? This product was so good, I bought another one as a gift. I would have given it all 5's, but it didn't come with a Subwoofer.

Well worth the money. Comes carrying case and international plugs for many countries. Add a sub-woofer and you're in business. A remote would be nice but a good value nonetheless.

I am bringing these speakers with me overseas. I have not taken them out of the USA as of yet, but they are a great asset in the high school classroom--esp. when Johnny Cash is played. I find them to be powerful, yet appropriate. These are no Bose, but they are great little speakers that come with plugs for every country--no need to buy an adapter, a great little carrying case, an audio output cord--so you can also set up a CD player, a non IPOD MP3 player, etc. I am impressed with the speakers and hope they last me for multiple years.

This product was very compact and puts out quality sound. I have not hooked it up to any other accessory, but I purchased it for portability and quality. And for that, I surely am not disappointed. Good quality for great value.

Great sound, easy to use and very portable. I have had no issues with the product and use it extensively. I have the much more expensive Bose system as well, but this is so light and portable, the Bose is my fixed system and this travels with me.

Maybe I was expecting too much out of the speakers but I was a disappointed with the sound. There isn't a whole lot of treble, which I like. The speakers were very inexpensive so you shouldn't expect too much but I thinking they would sound better. Also, there is a loud pop between songs. Overall, just OK speakers. On the plus side, it does charge my iPod.

For a pair of small speakers, they sound pretty darn good. What impresses me the most is all the extras that this set comes with; and I got it all for a great price!! It includes a carry-case, and 5 different AC plug adapters for international use (or can be used with 4 AA batteries). I think this unit is a great compromise between sound quality and compact size. I would recommend this product.

A very nice speaker set up for your iPOD considering the price. A small package that is very portable and delivers good sound quality. Appropriate for use in a small to medium size room. Comes with a carrying case and a worldwide set of plug adapters, making this an ideal speaker system for travel.

As usual Buy.com deliverd to product quickly and with no shipping charges. I use this for my son's I-pod and use the auxillary port for my Sandisk Sansa. Sounds great and even has a port for an optional subwoofer.

This player exceeded my expectations and the sale price was unbelievable. Cranks out as loud as a boom box with good fidelity & good separation between highs and lows. Is compact and lightweight and would be easy to travel with. I liked it so much I just purchased my second one so I'd have one at home and one at the office.

This is a really good product for the $$ I paid. Its easy to set up and worked great with my video ipod. Its compact, it comes with a pouch to store it in, its stylish and the sound is excellent. I ordered it on Friday night and received it by Monday morning, and it was free shipping! I would definitely buy this item again.

This product comes complete with power cord and even a handy nylon case to keep it in when not in use. Runs on batteries so you are not always tied to the power cord. Little heavy on the bass, but sound quality is very acceptable. If you are looking for a small set of speakers for your iPod this is a perfect choice.

The product was delivered timely and the condition was excellent. The sound quality of the speaker unit is quite good and it is very easy to use. The enclosed carrying case also has room to carry the iPod conveniently. Operation of the speakers with the AC adapter or 4 AA batteries provides a nice option for remote usage. Overall, I couldn't be more satisfied with the purchase

Overall this is a pretty good iPod speaker dock. It was a good value when I purchased it, it sounds good, and it looks good. I do miss not having a remote though, which would make it much easier to use. Another thing I don't totally like is the fact that everytime you turn it on it defaults to a sound level that is actually pretty loud so I find myself frantically turning it down a lot. Like I said though, overall this is a good product for the price I paid and I am happy with it.

The IM5 replaced my first-gen Altec Lansing foldover speakers, which I loved for their tone, weight, and sound. The IM5 is a worthy successor. The bass is slightly richer, although it is also slightly thicker, so a bit harder to travel with. It's not clear whether you're supposed to pull out the dock drawer from the front, or press the release button on the rear; both work equally well. If your major intention is to take your tunes and travel, these are excellent speakers for the price.

This item was purchased for my daughter. SHE LOVES IT. It is FULLY portable and convenient. The sound is really fairly good based on the size, price and portability. And buy.com had the lowest price on the internet ..... BY FAR. If you are looking for PURE QUALITY sound, you will obviously need to spend a little more money; but for the price, I consider this speaker dock a GREAT BUY!

The speakers are of best quality and also on full volume the quality of sound does not get disturbed and sounds great. Its a great product to enhance what you have as IPOD with you.
