The superb-sounding Altec Lansing AHP712 headphones with Active Noise Reduction are ideal for the frequent traveler and anyone in a noisy environment. Active Noise Reduction technology uses small microphones to “listen” to ambient sounds and special circuitry to create a sound wave 180 degrees out of phase from the ambient sounds. When the sound wave is played through the headphones, it reduces ambient noises, such as airplane engines and subway rumbles, to allow you to focus on your music, movies or games.

Features
Wide-spectrum Active Noise Reduction and closed ear-cup design promote pleasant travel by virtually eliminating unwanted noise.
High Performance 40mm neodymium drivers deliver superior quality audio reproduction.
Adjustable deluxe padded headband and leatherette ear pads for long lasting comfort
Features foldable design for easy packing, handy multi-function controller, carry bag with accessory pouch, two choices of cable lengths, as well as airline and 0.25” adapters.

1 of 5 Flimsy - WIll break soon, good sound, good Noise C Saturday, June 13, 2009
KF from Dallas, Texas

I have had 3 sets of these break in the exact same spot. They break at the swivel on the earpeice. They have lasted from 1 month to 1 1/2 years. I baby these things, but the plastic fatigues and they just let go. The noise canceling is good, The sound is good and they get good battery life. Comfort is reasonable. There is a feedback issue when hooked to the airplane jack, but that goes away if you lower the amplification level. Very slight hiss otherwise. It is too bad these are so fragile, because the alternatives are more expensive. I am spending more next time and hopefully they will last for a while.

5 of 5 Rebranded Peltor Headphones Tuesday, May 05, 2009
A Customer from Nashua NH
I have a pair of the Peltor NR headphones and love them. These are the same unit, just silver and rebranded. I've compared them to other units while flying and always been impressed with the NR performance.

5 of 5 Excellent Sound Monday, May 04, 2009
Bruce from Farmingdale, New Jeresy
I was very pleased with the sound, sure beats the ear buds that came with my MP3 player, The noise cancelling feature works but not as effective as I thought it would be. Anyway you can't go wrong with Altec lansing products, this one is a winner. I'm thing about buying a second one to share the sound in my car.

5 of 5 Excellent value Wednesday, April 22, 2009
A Customer from New York, NY
After a lot of comparison shopping, I decided on these headphones as the best combination of features and value, and I'm glad I did. The sound quality is much better than I expected for the price, and the noise reduction works quite well. If I wear them for more than an hour or so, they become slightly uncomfortable because of their weight, but that's true for me with most over-the-ear headphones, and these are more comfortable than some that I've owned. Not professional-quality, but more than acceptable for my purposes, and a great value for the price.

2 of 5 Poor noise reduction, average quality of sound. Al Monday, April 20, 2009
Al Mok from New York, NY
Altec Lansing must be ashamed of this product. Poor noise reduction and average quality of sound. Once again, I learn the lesson that famous manufacturer name does not guarantee high quality product. I can not believe that some people actually paid $117 or even $175 for this model. Even $30 that I've paid to Buy.com is way too much. Hugely overpriced item, real price should not be more than $15. This is the worst headphones with active noise reduction/canceling I've ever had. Before I had noise reduction/canceling headphones from Philips and Creative...

5 of 5 Good Choice! Great Performance! Sunday, April 19, 2009
Mike from Cathedral City, CA
I am very pleased with these headphones! While I have not used the noise reduction and cannot comment on that. I use my new headphones for music listening on my pc and mp3. What excellent sound quality and volumn control! If I had four ears I would buy another set! I ordered these on a Tuesday and recieved them on the next Saturday! What excellent service once again by Buy.com!

4 of 5 Good Performance on the cheap Saturday, April 18, 2009
Lee from Escondido, CA
There are few noise reduction headphones less expensive than the Altec Lansing AHP712 headphones with Active Noise Reduction, and there are many that are more expensive, and many of those work very well. But, for the money, these reduce outside noise well while boosting the volume & enhancing the highs. The ANR/volume control uses a single "AAA" battery and both a short (12") & long (36") cable are included. These headphone adjust down to fit small heads better than ANY headphones I've ever worn; they don't fold up as small as some others. Highly recommended for extended wear in a noisy enviornment.

4 of 5 Good, but not magical Wednesday, April 15, 2009
A Customer from Ewing, NJ
I'm a college student with a very large workload (20+ credits per semester), which some of my other housemates find difficult to take into account when they have loud conversations right outside my workspace. Not necessarily their fault since my workload is quite unique, so I took the initiative to buy these headphones hoping it would solve the problem, which it hasn't really. It has been nice listening to music or watching movies, but when there's no music playing it tends to just create a buzzing background noise. Either way, I can still hear every word of my housemates' conversations. Personally, I think my expectations were too high and/or my housemates are just too loud, so this does not necessarily reflect on the quality of the product as per its description. In Conclusion: GREAT for those who need noise reduction for airplanes/trains or to pick up nuances in music...these certainly deliver in that sense. However, this is not anything magical and you will still hear that annoying cellphone conversation from the suit sitting next to you.

5 of 5 Excellent accoustics Wednesday, April 15, 2009
Al from Memphis TN
These earphones do exactly as advertised. They cut out the surrounding noise and let you focus on your music. My one and only 'complaint' is that they are heavy on the top strap that goes over your head. As long as you are in an upright sitting position there is no problem. But if you recline, the weight of the head band tends to slide back across the skull. It in no way affects the fine sound performance but it does get a tad aggravating. With the sound-deadening feature turned on I don't think you would hear a tornado come down the block. Overall, I'm very pleased and would buy them again. They are also perfect for gaming; you'll hear sound effects you've probably never heard before. I'm keeping mine! (can't help but wonder what those $400 ear-buds sound like. WOW!!)

5 of 5 Decent noise reduction Tuesday, April 14, 2009
A Customer from Salt Lake City, UT
Bought these headphones not expecting much, but used them on an a long flight recently and was suprised by the noise reduction and the quality of sound reproduction. I also found them comfortable to wear, even after several hours.

4 of 5 Good for the price Tuesday, April 14, 2009
socal_doc from Corona, CA
I have had these for about 2 weeks. The price on buy.com could not be beat. I had tried the Bose Quiet Comfort 2 at the mall and was very impressed with the sound quality but did not want to pay that high of a price. I am not an audiophile by any means. I just want comfortable headphones that will drown out the background noise on a plane. Well these headphone reduce the outside noise by about 50%. I just used these on a 4 hour trip. I could still hear a lot of the engine sound but there was a very noticeable difference with NC (noise cancellation)turned on. They come with a little box with a switch on it to turn NC on and off (it needs 1 AAA battery). It was very clear to distinguish when it was on and off. I could still hear the stewardess talking to people though. But the sound quality is very good, especially the bass. I had no problems hearing the dialouge on the movie I was watching. While these do not compare to the Bose they are definately worth the price.

3 of 5 Poor noise cancellation and low sound Monday, April 13, 2009
Nandan from Santa Clara, 95050
I was carried away by the name Altec Lansing..... The max volume you could get is very low . If you keep the volume in full it starts vibrating for bass, its not comfortable for long hours of listening. The noise canceling works exactly opposite way, as soon as you connect to ur music device or computer and turn on the noise canceling it starts giving interference kind of noise and its very annoying. Obviously price dose matter, cant expect much from this $30 worth device. I suggest u guys to go for some thing else.

5 of 5 Amazing Monday, April 13, 2009
John from Sarasota, FL
These headphones are terrific. They shut out all background noise. I bought them to edit a video project that requires me to hear what stray background sounds may have been recorded on a series of interviews. They should do this very well.

5 of 5 WOW! Thursday, April 02, 2009
A Customer from Rochester, MN
I was a little concerned about purchasing a pair of noise cancelling headphones at this price. But since I have received them, I have not been able to put them down. The sound quality is spot on and with how comfortable they are I can listen for hours at work without being interrupted by outside noise. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for an extra set of headphone to have around the house or work.
