Altec Lansing makes the best speakers. Unfortunately, these speakers are not in the same class as some of their other products. You still get speakers that are better than competitors in the same price range. They save space and look great next to my Compaq Evo (matching colors). The sound quality is decent but I wouldn't call them "gaming speakers". I can turn the volume on full with no distortion. The headphone jack is a nice bonus. The blue power light is powerful - reminds me of an airport landing strip. Overall, get them for general usage and portability and just because they are Altec Lansing. Altec Lansing does not disappoint.

Good compact speakers. Perfect for portable DVD players (if you have a power source to power these). The blue power LED is too bright, but can be covered with a sticker if you don't like it.
