After having unsuccessfully tried Norton Ghost, Norton Backup and Restore, Norton 360 - it is great to know that I am finally using a backup utility which works. I have been able to attached a 500G external disk and setup EMC Retrospect to successfully backup my critical files on time every day.
A simple interface to both backup and restore with proven performance. IT WORKS!!! Also you can try out the package with their trial download - I tried it and bought it.

Got this software after having run the trial of Retrospect 7.5. I thought this would have a few minor feature reductions but it is a completely different package at least as far as the user interface is concerned. The EMC website shows the differences as things like not allowing DVD backup, only HD, but they dont mention the completely crippled user interface.
They've taken almost every option or feature out of the gui, its extremely basic. I guess for one touch super easy backup this might work for you but if you want to do anything whatsoever more this package wont do it.
I bought the upgrade to 7.5 and will use that, Express HD is going in the drawer never to come out again. 7.5 is excellent. Was this review helpful?

Easy to install and setup. Works well with internal or external storage devices. Only provides very basic backup capability. No incremental or differential backup option. So each backup includes all files in the selected computer, drive or directory or indivual file each time whether it has changed or not and results in backup taking longer to complete. This results in more storage being used for each backup as well. Easy to select entire computer, drive or directory to be backed up and the backup interval. Recommend for a basic home user. Not for an advanced user that wants to be able to select more options. I'm sure they sell a more advanced package for that purpose. Was this review helpful?
