Largely recorded in Kingston, ALL REBEL ROCKERS shies away from hip-hop, with most tracks taking on a laidback, dancehall approach while Franti's lyrics remain rife with political messages that espouse peace, love, social consciousness, and grassroots organizing. The high-energy anthem "Hey World (Remote Control Version)" works as a global call to action as the rowdy guitar line props up Franti's impassioned chants ("You've got to let go of remote control!"). Jamaican soul singer Cherine Anderson stops by for the feel-good duet "Say Hey (I Love You)" while Marie Daulne of Zap Mama appears on the sultry dirge "High Low." | Producer: Michael Franti; Sly & Robbie | Engineer: Delroy Pottinger | Musical Guests | | Cherine Anderson | | Zap Mama |

Artist Overview
Led by Michael Franti, formerly of 1980s punk band the Beatnigs and early-'90s alt-hip-hop group the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy, Spearhead took the Heroes' socially conscious hip-hop approach and mixed it with funk, reggae, and pop influences for an eclectic, accessible sound. Spearhead's debut album, 1994's HOME, crossed over to alternative-rock radio with the song "Hole in the Bucket." The band proved durable, scoring its first Billboard top 40 hit 15 years later with the upbeat " While their albums variously leaned closer to one aspect or another of the band's stylistic blend, Franti's highly political lyrical content remained a constant.

Professional Reviews
Dirty Linen (p.52) - "The mix of a deep-dub sound machine with hip-hop beats topped by rabble-rousing, politically charged lyrics sounds like nothing so much as latter-day Clash. ALL REBEL ROCKERS is totally righteous."
