I purchased this item with the intent of repairing a couple of CDs that I own. Not only did it successfully correct the skipping issues that I had with those CDs, but it has also been utilized to clean and repair multiple CDs and DVDs that I sold online. The process of changing the wheels is quick and fairly simple. It also comes supplied with a power source which saves money on batteries. Previously, I have owned a different brand of CD/DVD Disc Repair which was considerably more expensive plus the power source had to be sent away for separately. The setup is a bit tedius. You must change out parts depending on whether you're washing, repairing, or buffing a disc. Once you get the hang of it it's not so bad. It's certainly easier than cranking a handle on a manual version.
I've tried it out on 3 movies and 2 games. All were much better after repair, but none were completely fixed. Despite the claims of these type of products I feel there's only so much they can do. The failure to completely restore the discs is attributed to the level of damage versus the ability of this product to repair. I'm sure I will have better success with discs having minor skipping issues. Although I only rate the product a 3, I feel it compares well with its competitors. I'm glad I have it around. I was buying the aleratec hoping that it could bring to life some of my bad dvds, cds and it worked. I am very happy with the machine. I am also happy with aleratec customer service. I was missing the pink polishing disk and called aleratec, no question asked they sent me the pink polishing disk and received them in a couple of days. Great tool to buy. Was this review helpful?

I used the repair/resurfacing process several times on 3 audio discs.
One disc had scratches that make it unusable, and there was NO improvement. The next had scatches that allow it to play, but with "thumps". Very minor improvement in sound. The third has very minor cosmetic scuffs. No improvement in the appearance was made.
In addition, cleaning, drying, & reassembling the pad assembly was too time consuming for such little improvement. Was this review helpful?
