5 of 5 Corny? Yes? Sardonic? You can bet your bit!! Friday, May 16, 2008

Yes, I am quite sure that these movies will never be regarded as "socially relevant". However they are very entertaining and have appeal for the whole family. I rememeber these movies from my youth and still find them delightful!!! I can also say that Francis' commentaries on 2nd Lts. and lawyers are very insightful.Chill Wills was not given enough credit for his biting pokes at these stalwarts of America. Plus being the owner of a Molly Mule, I can say that the Francis was very talented. Plus the price is very nice.

4 of 5 Classic comedies, but no Oscars here Wednesday, June 13, 2007
    AMP13 from Buffalo, NY
We purchased this set as a family, mostly at the request of our children. Suprisingly enough they wanted to see another Donald O'Connor movie after falling in love with "Singing In the Rain." After renting 2 of the "Francis" titles they asked for the set. The movies are typical of 1950's comedies; light-hearted, predictable but wholesome fun. There will be no Oscar performances or historically significant films here, just good, old-fashioned Hollywood comedy. They make for a great family movie night, and the kids don't even comment on the films being black & white. Overall not epic cinematic fare, but a must have for fans of O'Connor or this lost genre of simply comedy.
