| | | "After a Cataclysmic Meteor Strike Exterminates 90% of the Population, the Survivors Must Battle Barbarians, Disease, and Strongmen Who Seek Only to Secure Their Own Power!" Turn-based battle system allows for confrontations between two to four armies, each headed by a commanding officer (CO), who take turns building and commanding units on grid-based maps. : Story plays out through 26 missions, with story scenes that tie the plot together occurring between and during the battles. In addition, around 30 training missions are unlocked as the missions are completed. : Various weather conditions (which change the terrain effects of the entire map) affect each battle, as does the Fog of War, a phenomenon that prevents players from seeing enemy units other than those in the visual range of their units. : Ground, sea and air units available for command, including the new Motorbike, a highly mobile motorcycle unit that can capture properties and the Flare, a new tank-like unit that can light up 13-square areas affected by the Fog of War. : Online multiplayer with 150+ maps for 2-, 3- and 4-player battles and voice chat available over Nintendo's Wi-Fi Connection service. : ESRB Rated E10 For Ages 10 and Up "...outrageously good, taking a simple formula and tuning it to perfection." Alex Dale, NGamer "An awesome DS game for strategy veterans and recruits alike." Demetri Kouvalis, Gamer Node "It isn't every day such an incredibly polished, entertaining game comes your way." Tracy Erickson, Pocket Gamer

| | Professional Reviews | Game Revolution 9 of 10 Advance Wars: Days of Ruin makes some serious assumptions on the familiarity of its users with the franchise, and alas, leaves some good bits of the past out to the elements. But it's a bottom-line, top-notch, kick-ass portable strategy experience that finally breaks the online-competition barrier, and brings some new and long-awaited 'dark cred' to the traditionally cutesy series without losing its essential streamlined, battle-hardened goodness. This portable-gaming gem is as good a way to survive a long flight, dead-ass lunch-hour or boring court-appointed substance-abuse class as you're likely to find anytime soon. As possible portable near-ends of the world go, Days of Ruin is a must-have. - Chris Hudak
