USBXchange provides connectivity for virtually all of your SCSI devices including: scanners, CD-ROMs, CD-R/Ws, DVD drives, Zip, Jaz, Orb drives, hard disk drives, magneto-optical (MO) devices, and tape drives. Because of USBXchange's ability to connect SCSI devices to USB, you can keep using SCSI devices you already own and trust-while leaving your options open for adding new peripheral devices in the future.
Cross-Platform Flexibility and Savings:
Because USBXchange is compatible with both USBenabled Macintosh and PC systems, you can easily move the adapter between them. This flexibility gives your peripherals greater versatility, and saves you money.
Industry Compliant and Hot Plugable:
The USB interface is completely USB 1.1 compliant and hot plugable. It connects via a permanently attached USB cable (series A type plug) while the narrow SCSI bus connects via a high-density 50 pin male SCSI connector. The adapter supports full-speed (12Mbps) USB data transfer and asynchronous transfer on the SCSI bus side. This translates into 1.5 MB/sec burst and 700 KB/sec sustained transfer rate. The SCSI interface adapter can connect up to 7 SCSI peripherals
via a daisy-chain connection*.
True Termination Power Management:
USBXchange provides termination power management that can function in all SCSI settings. The device is self-powered by either the SCSI bus or the USB bus. If SCSI termination power is not available, the adapter automatically switches to receive its power from the USB bus. So all your SCSI peripherals can attach to USBXchange.
DC Power Jack:
USBXchange incorporates a power supply connector so it can receive power from an external power supply unit when both SCSI and USB power sources are unavailable. The connector uses a small power jack that is compatible with an external DC power supply. (See back panel for technical specifications and requirements.)
Innovative Design:
USBXchange has a sleek, ultra-slim, and functional design. The 3-foot cable is an integrated USB-SCSI adapter that converts the USB 1.1 interface into a narrow SCSI bus interface. The adapter's slim design enables two SCSI connectors to be stacked either side-by-side or on top of each other.
Full SCSI Manager Support:
USBXchange supports Apple's Old SCSI Manager as well as new SCSI Manager 4.3 compliant devices for maximum compatibility-a critical feature since many Mac peripherals still rely on the Old SCSI Manager.
*Windows 2000 and Mac OS currently limit support to only one SCSI device with one lun.
