| | | | Actiontec Internet Phone Wizard (for Skype). Put the telephone back in Internet telephony! The Actiontec Internet Phone Wizard combines the best of both worlds - the ease and convenience of your normal phone and the zero cost of Internet calls. Until now, you had to sit in front of your computer and wear uncomfortable headsets to make Internet calls. Or you had to choose between completely separate user experiences between using a normal phone or Internet phone. The Internet Phone Wizard with Skype makes all of these problems a thing of the past. Simply connect your computer to the Internet, pick up your phone, and begin dialing as you've always done - without any worry of a huge phone bill. The Internet Phone Wizard with Skype makes it easy and fun to call any Skype user in the world for free, and everyone else at low SkypeOut rates.
Use Your Normal Phone to Make and Receive Internet Calls. Making Internet phone calls is free and easy, but it is just too cumbersome to wear strange headsets and sit in front of your computer to talk. This is just the problem the Actiontec Internet Phone Wizard solves. Instead of being restricted to unwieldy headsets or small microphones in front of the computer, now you can make Internet calls from anywhere with a cordless or normal phone. You'll still be using the Skype service and an Internet connection for these calls, the only difference is that everything will be channeled through the phone instead of the computer speakers. Additionally, these Internet calls come with superior sound quality and convenience. They sound as good as normal calls with the Internet Phone Wizard's echo-cancellation technology and excellent voice quality. The calls are also easy to make, with a speed-dial feature that lets you call your friends by tapping only a couple of keys on your phone.
Use the Same Phone for Internet and Normal Calls. The Internet Phone Wizard is the world's first device to truly integrate Internet calls with normal calls. Whether you want to make or receive calls, use the same phone for all your Internet as well as normal calls. This is not only a handy feature, but it is also very easy to use. When you receive a phone call, the Internet Phone Wizard automatically detects whether it's an incoming Internet or normal phone call and switches to that phone mode automatically. You just have to pick up and start talking. When you pick up your phone to make a call, you'll hear a regular dial tone and it will be ready for normal calls. If you would like to make an Internet call, a couple of key taps your phone informs Internet Phone Wizard that you want to make Internet calls. In addition, the Internet Phone Wizard comes with a unique, patented call-waiting feature. When you 're already on a call, you can pick up incoming calls by just pressing a couple of keys. So whether you would like to use your phone for Internet or normal calls, switching between the two is as easy as pressing a few keys on your phone.
Get a Second Phone Line Absolutely Free. With Internet Phone Wizard, you no longer have to wait for family members to get off the phone when you want to make a call. Use the capabilities of the Internet to create another phone line, for free. The Internet Phone Wizard with Skype does this without any configuration. And because Internet Phone Wizard lets you make calls to anyone in the world - whether they're on a computer or a normal phone, you can call anyone you want, when you want to call them. Now you can call friends across town, across continents-without tying up phone lines and at no cost whatsoever.

3 of 5 Vosky Internet phone wizard review Saturday, March 22, 2008 Imtiaz from Niagara Falls NY
Okay product BUT, it won't work with Windows Vista unless you go to the companys website and download the latest driver/software info. Then it will work, but if you're using a regular home phone like me, the only bad thing is you have to dial the number directly from your computer screen because your phones dialing feature does not work, only the computers. Which I didn't know until afterwards, if I knew before hand I wouldn't of bought it, but I've gotten used to it now, but its not very convenient. You must turn on your computer and use the skype software to dial a number. It gives you a dialtone, but if you dial using your phones handset, you'll get a busy tone afterwards. To recieve calls your phone and computer must be turned on and skype software running in the background, not much fuss but you gotta set the speakers setting to vosky if you want to hear and talk on the phone and not on the computer. Too much hassle, I'd skip this one. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Works but software is not up to par Thursday, September 06, 2007 Lee from Rosemount, MN
Received the unit yesterday and hooked it up. It works as advertised, but setting it up was a chore. It tells you to upgrade to the latest version of Skype (currently v3.5). It only works with v3.1 ONLY if you download the latest setup file. If you use the setup file that they send you and click UPDATE, it will update, but not to the to current bios version. In addition, you must download Skype v3.1 from their website after you have downloaded and installed the updated setup file. Not clear at all. You can't get Skype v3.1 from the Skype website. You must get it from Vosky.
Once I got it up and running, it works great. You get a dial tone and dialing is easy (using SkypeOut). Will give to my son in college. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Great product Thursday, July 05, 2007 A Customer from Mundelein, IL
Works well with Skype. I wish it could work with other products such as Yahoo Messenger. The setup is very easy. The only trouble I had was to find how to dial a number which is not set up as speed dial in skype. The manual did not say that. I searched on internet and found that to make outgoing calls to anyone not on the skype speed dial you have to dial 001-followed by the number. Sometimes I have to change the audio setup on skype to route audio to the Actiontec device. Other than that it is working fine.. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 WOW - The VoSky Device works GREAT and I will save Tuesday, July 03, 2007 Scott Mc from Pacific, WA
The Vosky Modem just works Great!
Initially it disabled all sound playing through my PC but after fixing that with simple changes on the PC, everything works great.
My regular phones still works and my Skype calls using the VoSky device work great on my regular phones too.
I was able to feed ALL of the phones in my house from the VoSKY device, so I can answer and make Skype or regular calls on any phone in my house (they don't say you can do that but it works for me).
I am considering shutting off my normal phone service because Skype and the VoSky device work sooo well.
A little disapointed that I can't on the fly decide to use my PC's microphone and speakers vs. the phone (you have to configure all PC speakers and no phones or all phones and no PC microphone & speakers, but I can live with that).
The only other drawback is I can't figure out how to dial a "+" on my phone (that "+" at the beginning of all Skype Outs calls is required by Skype to call any regular non-skype phone #'s), so I am limited to dialing from the phone to Skype Speed-dial associated #'s in my Skype contacts list or, if the # I am calling is not a Skpe Speed-dial #, then I have to dial that # over my PC using Skype software, then pick up the phone to talk (wish they would have a default "+" added to any phone dialed number).
Overall, Very Happy, the few limitations I mentioned are negligable (they will probably figure out fixes to adress those common issues, so I definitely recommend this device to my friends.
Not to mention the consistent OUTSTANDING service from BUY.COM, I wish every on-line merchant met the BUY.COM standards for true customer service and great pricing ... keep it up BUY.COM!

1 of 5 VOSKY IPW - doesn't work Thursday, June 07, 2007 A Customer from Ridgefield, CT
Easy installation, but when complete the product doesn't work. You're supposed to be able to hit ## on your telephone to go to an internet call, but that resulted in an error message from the phone company. Hours after installation, the unit began to short out the phone line completely and had to be removed before the phone worked again.
I liked what this product advertised - but they certainly didn't deliver. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Works as advertised Tuesday, April 03, 2007 Sush from Sacramento, CA
Works great. Have not had any problem. Hooked it up to a phone line and PC and worked like a charm. I am not using advanced features like call forwarding and so on. I am using it in a very basic configuration - to receive regular land-line and skype calls on my cordless phone. Was this review helpful?

Could not be more easy to install. Fits anywhere between any other gizmos. Give a second life to your existing home phone. You don't have to buy clumsy VOIP special phones, always too tiny and poorly synced with Skype. Was this review helpful?

I tried using Skype with a cheap speakerphone and headset, but it didn't seem like the call quality was very good. I also really prefer using a regular phone instead of a headset.
I bought the Actiontec VoSKY Internet Phone Wizard so I could use my regular cordless phone. VoSKY seems to work great. It allows you to make calls through your landline phone service and to make Skype calls through your computer (with broadband). You just press the "#" button twice switch between your landline and your Skype "line." I say line, because the VoSKY even simulates a dial tone for Skype.
Skype is still a relatively new service and it is far from perfect. Call quality varies a lot and sometimes a connection is unacceptably poor or a call is dropped. On the other hand, many calls are quite good and you can't beat the price. Skype calls to anywhere in the US or Canada are free until the end of the year.
Based on my assumption that the dropped calls are due to Skype and not the VoSKY, I give this device high ratings. I knock it down a notch on performance and ease of use because I don't seem to be able to use my phone's keypad to make calls. Skype requires calls to phones in the US to start with "+ 1" to indicate the country code and I haven't found a way to enter a "+" symbol with my phone keypad. Consequently, I dial all my Skype calls through my computer using Skype's on-screen keypad (or by using my Skype contact list). I consider this a minor inconvenience, however, and recommend both the Actiontec VoSky and Skype. Was this review helpful?

Had not seen this product in Skype's website but it is ideal for any user - you don't have to buy the internet only phone set any more. Once installed standard and internet phone line work seamlessly - normal phone line works when your computer is on standby as well. Since I wanted the maximum flexibility I bought also a pair of cordless phones so I could recieve and call from any where at home. The only requirement is that you must keep the computer to which the box is installed on at all times.
I would recommend the internet only cordless phone set for those have a wireless router at home and/or don't want to deal with the hassle of running additional phone cables around the house. The down fall of that is that you will always have two phones to look after. Was this review helpful?

Excellent product. Simple to install and works slick with Skype. Incoming Skype calls has two short rings and other land based calls are normal rings. Very clear, no echo or hollow effect. The unit is very small no external power supply easy to hide. Updates prompted me the next day. Easy to update "next, next, next, finish". I highly recommend this product. I still cannot believe people pay for long distance these days. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 This thing is awsome! Sunday, August 07, 2005 A Customer from New York, NY
Plug it in, start to use immediately! Voice quality is very good, both for Skype and SkypeOut calls.
You can even put a Skype call on hold and answer your regular line (and vice versa). Was this review helpful?

My internet phone wizard installed quickly and works like a charm with my Skype account. I'll be cancelling my regular phone service very soon. Unlike other adapters where the adapter rings (but not the attached phone), the Internet Phone Wizard makes the attached phone ring. Bonus: via Skype, you get an ultra-cool European ring (ring-ring ring-ring) instead of the boring American ring. Was this review helpful?
