This solution couldn't be easier -- literally just plug it in, just like they say. The Actiontec people do not make it clear that you need 2 components, one to get the signal onto your electrical system, and one to transmit to your computer. Buy.com's product page makes that clear, however. It would have cost hundreds of dollars to install ethernet wiring up to our bedroom, but this solved the problem in less than 5 minutes.

My wife and I have an office at home with two computers, a PC and an Intel iMac. We also have an Actiontec wireless DSL modem (from Qwest). For months, we hooked the PC directly to the modem via an ethernet cable and the iMac accessed the internet using its built in Airport wireless. We also have a shared printer, wired to the PC and again, accessed by the iMac using wireless. Everything worked, although internet access on the PC was always slow (I just figured it was because it was an older Pentium III machine). I bought two of the HomePlug Ethernet Adaptors and one of the HomePlug 4-Port Hubs. This stuff works great! I hooked the modem to the hub, then hooked the printer to the hub. Next, I had to hook-up the computers. According to Actiontec's website, the adaptors only work with Windows, but a tech at Actiontec told me that if I used my PC for setting up the adapter (basic software stuff), I should be able to plug my iMac in and it would work. The tech was absolutely right...plugged my iMac in and I was instantly on the net. Not only was it incredibly easy to set up, it worked flawlessly out of the box. And, the PC is now much faster accessing the internet...I have no idea why, but it made a huge difference in overall speed. I did have some problems getting the printer linked up with the PC, but that was a printer/software issue, not an Actiontec problem. I considered hard wiring the office for ethernet, but I don't think I would have saved that much money, especially if you factored in the time it would have taken me to do it.
