After 1 month the computer failed. I had to wait for Acer to send me the recovery discs and reload everything that I had loaded when it was new. After that the computer work again for a few weeks and then showed a new error meesage with harddrive failure. My only option was to return it and have it repaired. I would prefer to unload the piece of junk and get my money back. I am told that that is not an option. I reccomend staying away from Acer products Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Acer Thursday, November 29, 2007 barbpaymaster from arizona
I think this is a great little laptop but I've had a few snaggs.
The sound is not loud enough to hear a DVD. I purchased this to take on airplane trips and I cannot hear the movie. I have called customer service a few times but no one can solve the problem. The sound on a CD (music) is fine. But anytime you play a video or DVD the sound is not loud enough.
The battery only lasts for about 1 1/2 hrs. I also called customer service for the battery and they sent me another battery, which was very nice.
When I received the computer there was a "Microsoft Vista Upgrade" disc which I thought needed to be installed on the computer, however, after talking to customer service I found out that you shouldn't put this on the computer because it will
shut down your computer after 30 days. I needed the recovery discs to put the computer back to original status, but Acer said I purchased the computer 7 months earlier and did not qualify for the free recovery discs. I therefore had to prove when I bought the computer from buy.com in order to receive my free recovery discs. I believe buy.com purchase date is the date that is registered to the product not when you actually buy it from buy.com.
Everyone in customer service has been helpful and I don't have
any problem getting ahold of someone at Acer.
I think this computer is still a good computer for the price, however, I sometimes wonder if I wouldn't have been better off buying a more expensive computer that had better sound quality.

4 of 5 Good value Tuesday, August 07, 2007 Ken from Portland, OR
I bought this laptop for portability when I travel. Nice design and have had no problems with it. A good value for the price. If I were to order again, I'd also get the bluetooth option. With 2mb RAM card this really can zoom. Also the battery power on this will not allow you too much time unplugged. The silver gray case will show scratches easily, would have preferred a flat black. But for the price, I can't complain too much. Was this review helpful?

This machine is GREAT ofr the money. The only drawback is a the battery won't last much more than an hour, especially if the DVD player is running a lot. It comes with a 2000MAH battery, and I would suggest spending another $60 or so to get the 4400MAH battery as well. Otherwise, this thing has been flawless, and is a great little machine. 5 of 5 Nicely Priced Thursday, April 05, 2007 steven from LV, NY
This a very good priced product, you can't beat it. It's also one the last models that acer made before completely converting all hardware over to vista. Which means.. you can wipe the vista off this model and load up xp and download all the drivers for it from the web for xp. woohoo! am glad I got it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Glad I got it Wednesday, March 21, 2007 A Customer from LV, NY
It's a great computer, the price is right, and the hard drives are 120gbs instead the advertised 80's. That has made me really happy. Was this review helpful?

3 of 5 Great computer except for the RAM Saturday, March 10, 2007 A Customer from Belleville, NJ
I couldn't even use office on this computer with the 512. I don't know why they even sell it this way. 512 is NOT enough to run Vista. I went to Best Buy and had another 512 added for a total of 1G and now it works great. Great price, but be prepared to spend another $100 upgrading your RAM immediately. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 GREAT VALUE; NEEDS MORE RAM Friday, March 09, 2007 Jack Florida from Pensacola, Florida
Arrived in less than 7 days from moment of purchase with free shipping option. Vista install went without problems although at times I wondered if the PC was hung up--it was not--just be patient. I'm one of those who previously decided to stay with W2K Pro and never went to XP. However, I went with Vista as provided on this laptop. Vista seems to provide very little for the extra resources it "hogs". I continue to be unhappy with Microsoft's apparent inability to develop OS options that need less resources... I then loaded Microsoft Office 2003 (does not come with the laptop) and it appears to work fine. The laptop seems a bit sluggish and Vista definitely takes too much time starting and shutting down. I believe buy.com should provide an added 512 of RAM at a discount for those who buy this laptop (or any that Vista is intended to run on). The laptop itself is light, but solid. The onboard wireless connnected immediately with my preN home wireless system. I was also able to connect with a projector to display Powerpoint presentations with little problem... On the whole, a good buy for other than power users. I'll upgrade to 1Gig RAM when the price point is right and I hope to see Vista respond quicker. Was this review helpful?
