5 of 5 decent performance in a nice package Sunday, March 02, 2008
CD from Orange County, CA

This machine is not a screamer but you get more than adequate performance from the AMD/ATI chips combo for a 4lb. package. But again - comparing this machine to a similarly configured Dell or HP would be unfair - you don't compare F430 to a Nissan GT-R (or if you do - you need to get your bearings straight). I gave it a 4 because of a few minor details that could have been handled better - the screen is quite reflective for my taste; they could have fitted a 13.3" LCD in the lid - the bezel is quite wide; the keyboard has less than perfect layout - the Home and End end keys require you to press Fn key; out of the box changing power profile causes Bluetooth radio to turn off; docking station has a few quirks which I'll cover in a separate review. These are all minor inconveniences - again, kind of like all small things you have to live with when driving an exotic car. The look is somewhat understated compared to the other Ferrari models by Acer and much subtler than the ASUS Lamborghini series. You can definitely find faster laptops at lower prices elsewhere. But if you are a car snob - this machine was made for you :)
