4 of 5 Love It! Saturday, April 11, 2009 Steve from Chesapeake City, MD
Portability is wonderful. The battery life is one of the best features. I like everything about it except upgrading the RAM memory or swapping the hard drive apparently requires taking it almost completely apart. They could have designed a access door on the bottom for convenience. I bought a USB DVD burner to use with it and it works perfectly. Was this review helpful?

As much as I wanted a full size laptop, my budget was only going to allow me to purchase a netbook. The Acer Aspire One has exceeded my lofty expectations. The only things this machine lacks are size and an optical drive. For me, the size isn't an issue and I've been able to work round the lack of an optical drive with my home network. This is perfect when the other systems in my home are in use and the portability for travel is simply incredible. You will not find a better system for the money. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Gotta love it! Wednesday, March 18, 2009 Kevin from Bloomfield, VT
Sweet little machine! Fast, powerful enough to do whatever I need on the road, card reader is handy, GREAT battery life, SHARP LCD display, incredibly light & portable. If you want a terrific buy on a quality ultra portable, this little Acer is the one for you! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great little machine!! Monday, March 16, 2009 Steve from Macungie, PA
I bought this netbook as a compliment to my desktop. The Atom processor has plenty of power to run Office and even basic photo editing software. If your looking for a small, light and easy to use netbook with GREAT battery life, The Acer Aspire One is the Netbook for you. Spend the extra money and get the 6 cell battery, you won't regret it!!
The touchpad buttons take some getting use to, but a usb mouse is cheap! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Nice little netbook Saturday, March 14, 2009 H L from Peoria, IL
It is a beautiful little netbook, lightweight, easy to carry in my briefcase to anywhere I go. Fast to start up--about 30 seconds. However, it is a little noisy. I downloaded a free fan control software which can make the netbook a little less noisy by control the temp at around 50 C. The wireless card can find every wifi spot I go, however, sometimes I have to repair the connection when it tries to connect but stuck in the acquiring cycle. Emailed to tech support, answer came back two days later saying change the power save mode to "OFF" from "maximum". I have yet to see whether this has fix the problem. Anyway this is just a minor problem, it does not happen that often and I can easily repair it by right click on the wireless sign. Overall I will give the little netbook a 4/5.

This the perfect travel computer; small, light, fast, powerful. Doesn't just fit in my carryon, it fits in the front pocket!Runs all Windows software, wi-fi is great, screen is very readable, long battery life. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Great Product, Power Supply too Large Friday, March 13, 2009 Shannon from Norfolk, VA
I love this computer, it is fast, small, and extremely portable. However for such a great computer, the power supply is too large, it really defeats the purpose of having such a small computer. However the battery life is so long you almost don't need to take the supply with you. I purchased a smaller power supply from ebay that fits both this computer and the Dell Mini, seems to work great. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Not disappointed Tuesday, March 10, 2009 A Customer from El Dorado Hills, CA
The larger 6 cell battery is well worth the small amount extra. The connection speed is good. Delivery was better than expected. Only one minor complaint and that is the plasitic case shows finger prints excessively. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very Quick And The Price was Right!!! Monday, March 09, 2009 James from Columbia Md

5 of 5 Love it! Thursday, March 05, 2009 Clayton from Baltimore, MD
Extremely handy device. Uber-mobile, really fits in your hand. Fantastic battery life. Sometimes the WiFi is spotty, but usually when the battery is low. Don't expect amazing multi-tasking performance, but surfing the web, checking email, and listening to tunes at the same time is no problem. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Netbook Monday, March 02, 2009 A Customer from Chicago, IL
It was an easy setup right of the box. When you add a USB DVD drive, since it doesn't come with one, it makes it the complete package. Small, portable and last long time with the 6 cell battery. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Wow. Seriously. Thursday, February 26, 2009 Rich from Bergen County, NJ
The other reviews have covered the tech specs - I'm getting over 5 hours, with no particular power saving strategies involved. I've installed sync software to keep the files coordinated between my laptop, desktop, and netbook.
The keyboard is great for its size - the lack of screen real estate is a little annoying at times when Web surfing (many Web sites simply aren't designed for such small vertical space). The speed is acceptable and the screen clarity is excellent.
But the bottom line is simple: I bought this thinking it would be nice to have for times when I didn't want to carry my full laptop. This unit is so good it reversed my thinking: now I take this unit unless I absolutely need the laptop. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great purchase!!! Wednesday, February 25, 2009 Connie from Dubuque, Iowa
I currently have a desktop and a laptop, but wanted something lighter and more portable. After reading other reviews and based on good value pricing, I decided to take a chance on this netbook. I am very satisfied. Would have liked another GB of RAM, but current performance is very acceptable. I type one-handed so the smaller keyboard is a great fit. It connected to my wireless network flawlessly. I would definitely recommend this netbook! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Size Doesn't Matter! Tuesday, February 24, 2009 Anthony from Davie, FL
After reading some reviews, I wasn't sure this was going to be a smart purchase. I'm happy to report it was! Love the portability, the color, the light weight, the features and the 6 cell battery really makes a difference(at least 5+ hours run time). Don't waste your money on the 3 cell battery unless run time is not an issue. Of course, the only downside is no DVD drive and no webcam software(at least none I could find). Downloaded Skype and webcam seems ok. Suggest you use it in a brightly lit area. Fan is quiet, processor and internet speeds are adequate and lcd screen in sharp and bright. I paid $329 but would've preferred to spend under $300. All in all, I feel this is an excellent buy and product. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Small, great for traveling, but.... Monday, February 23, 2009 Seth from New York, NY
Small, great for traveling, but....my monitor doesn't work well. I close the comp and then want to open it and the screen is black and need to do a restart. Called Acer and are sending me a part to fix it.
The size is great and performance other than the big issue has been great. I however don't like the layout of the buttons on the touch pad. they are on the side of the pad instead of below. makes for a bit of a nusaince.
big 6 cell battery is amazing. but it is really small and not great for everyday use. it just gets too straining to read and use. but its a tiny comp and was cheap. for traveling you can't beat it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 What to do with it? Monday, February 23, 2009 George B from OOB, Maine
I actually bought this for my mother. It was so cute, I bought one for myself (got it somewhere else, a little cheaper). Does everything my full-size Acer laptop does, almost as fast. My only complaint is that the screen is a little small, which is to be expected. The touchpad is laid out differently than my laptop, which can be used easily with one hand, like a mouse. This one is almost impossible to move the cursor while the fingers work the buttons, but I suppose one could get used to it. I'll probably use this for travelling, it's very light and doesn't feel like it will break, like my laptop does. And I'm only out $300 if it does. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 the best! Sunday, February 22, 2009 Nancy from Boston, MA
I had a Dell 13" laptop. Paid lots for it and it was ok, until my granddaughter spilled her apple juice on the keyboard. Would cost about $700 to fix, so I needed to replace it. Checked Staples and a lesser version of this computer would have been over $500.00. Bought this and got it the next day! It's an awesome laptop- just traveled with it for the first time and it was great. Easy to use, fast and fun. I'm in heaven! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Portable Power Sunday, February 22, 2009 Charles from Ashford Connecticut
Love it, nice keyboard feel, bright display, long battery life. I use it with a wireless nano mouse as I don't like touch pads. I like the expansion slot more than the card reader for SD cards. Quality look a feel, runs cool and quiet. The dark blue almost looks black. I convert my DVDs to AVI and use it like a portable DVD player. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Worth the Money Saturday, February 21, 2009 A Customer from Pooler, GA
This is an excellent netbook. With the 6 cell battery, the netbook last 6+ hours and barely notice the extra weight. This netbook can be a little slow. But after removing all the microsoft crap off the netbook, it runs smoother. Suggest downloading OpenOffice.org and ditching MSOffice, OpenOffice runs smoother and doesn't tax the netbook. Also download Safari or Firefox, more reliable than explorer and downloads webpages faster too.
This is a netbook and not a laptop. So don't expect this to work as quickly and as smoothly as a laptop. As a netbook, I think it is one of the best. Also at $330, this is a steal. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 My Acer Aspire One Saturday, February 21, 2009 Warren Denny from Lexington, Kentucky
I first saw this computer at work and it made me think about how I use a laptop. I was considering a MacBook because they are light weight and easy to be on the go with. The MacBook is nice but pricey. After researching the Acer I decided it would do all I needed and more. I reserve heavy tasks for my home workstation although I've loaded up the Acer with Vista, MS Office and Adobe Suite. Vista loads quickly and keeps me in that environment. The mouse pad takes getting used to but it works fine for me. I bought a 16GB jump drive and that has worked out well. I would recommend getting the six cell battery as the power chord is like most, hard to transport and not really necessary. If you just need a word processor, spreadsheet and browser the Acer comes with all that, no need for more software. This is the best bargain in the netbook offerings I have tried. A friend overseas turned me on the Acer Aspire and I wanted one of my own. It is great to travel with and easy to use. It takes a little getting used to the smaller screen but that is a small price to pay for the portability and user-friendliness of the Acer. I highly recommend it to anyone who has to work on the fly outside of the office. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great Deal!!! Thursday, February 19, 2009 A Customer from Kingston, RI
Is so small that I have a little difficulty using the keyboard without looking down sometimes. Very fast, great webcam, no bluetooth. Battery life with 6-cell battery is about 5-6 hours with screen on lowest brightness setting and WiFi radio on the whole time. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 High Quality with long battery life Tuesday, February 17, 2009 Alan Young from Los Angeles, CA
This computer has the foundation for all that I require. The processor is fast, and the battery life exdceeds five (5.5) hours. This model (1447) is a darker blue, than what is shown on the pictures. I find myself using this computer more than my 15.4". This computer is light, and exceptional for the money. Can you feel my enthusiasm? I loaded additional webcam software, minus their webcam (Logitech), and the Acer built-in webcam works terrific. The 160 GB hard drive is more than enough. This computer will excel in Paris, France, because Paris is 100% WiFi free. Would I tell everyone to get one? "Wi". Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 great buy Tuesday, February 17, 2009 fuzzer from Quakertown, PA
I love my Acer Aspire One notebook I purchased at buy.com. It's got GREAT battery life, why would you want to tote around a full size notebook. The quality is top-notch and the 160GB HD makes for storing lots of pictures and movies. I would highly recommend this netbook. IT's great, get one...you won't regret it. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good for what its made for Tuesday, February 17, 2009 A Customer from Binghamton NY
The netbook is great for what it is made for. I use it primarily for writing papers at school, on the go, and surfing the web. Its perfect if your actually using it for travel (very mobile). I would consider it under powered for an everyday computer. Batt. life is outstanding, I recommend the six cell. Was this review helpful?

I am absolutely satisfied with the Acer Aspire One notebook I purchased at buy.com. I've have an Acer laptop for some time, but the Aspire One will afford me the extreme portability I need, specifically for travel, etc. It was delivered faster than anticipated, with the buy.com follow-up assuring product satisfaction. It has worked seamlessly straight out of the box. I would highly recommend this product and buy.com to all. Thank you for your attention. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Amazing portability and battery power! Thursday, February 05, 2009 Andrea from West Palm Beach, FL
I just got my new Acer Aspire One this week, and I absolutely love it! I know they just recently dropped the price on this model in anticipation of the new 10" version coming out, but I don't think I would want this to be any bigger than it is. The size of the computer and the 6-cell battery make it ideal to carry around anywhere, particularly for meetings where you might not want to lug a full laptop; this little laptop allows you to take notes and view documents electronically rather than having to print hard copies out. Also fantastic for basic web surfing, watching online videos, and because the hard drive is so sizable, even for keeping music and your own videos. I really don't miss the optical drive at all, and if I find I do, I can get an external one pretty reasonably.
The configuration of the touchpad buttons takes a little getting used to, as does the slightly smaller keyboard, but I'm really finding it great to use.
Only one downside to this machine have I been able to discover, and it relates specifically to upgrading the memory. The way the machine is currently designed, in order to upgrade the RAM, you basically have to take apart the entire machine to get to the memory slots. Obviously, if you do this yourself, you would invalidate the warranty, and from what I've heard from others who have tried to do so, it's pretty complicated even for trained technicians. If they were able to have the RAM slots more accessible so you didn't have to do more than open a panel rather than taking the entire computer apart, it would be much better. I hope they take this into consideration for future models.
I saw on one of the Acer user community sites a suggestion of using some kind of car wax to help cut down on the fingerprints all over the lid. Personally, I'm getting a skin put on the cover to protect it, though it really is a gorgeous color of blue.
Like another reviewer, everyone I've shown this to absolutely loves it! My mom and at least three other friends I told about it have purchased one as well, and think it's great! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Best little notebook I've ever owned Tuesday, February 03, 2009 PTravel from San Clemente, California
I like this notebook so well, I find that I often use it instead of my bigger, more powerful and far more expensive Sony VAIO SZ-440. It has more than enough power to run Microsoft Office, various media players, etc. The Acer Aspire One is perfect for travel as it has insanely long battery life. The smaller keyboard is fine for touch-typists like myself; I can use it with no difficulty at all. I bought a tiny BlueTooth adapter that I leave plugged in all the time, so I can use it with my BlueTooth travel mouse. The only negative is that the graphics card is limited to 1200 x 800, even when using an external monitor, but this is a very small drawback in my opinion and is consistent among netbooks of all manufacturers.
Everyone at my office marvels at it and, when I told them it was on sale at buy.com today, at least two ordered immediately. Hey, buy.com -- I want a commission! ;) Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 maximum portability Friday, January 23, 2009 A Customer from East Lansing, Michigan
I purchased this Acer for maximum portability and it has lived up to that quite well. It could always use more RAM to improve the speed and performace of applications such as MS Office, but with Windows XP the machine boots fully in ~30 seconds. The 6-cell battery sticks out a bit making the neoprene sleeve search difficult, but the extra battery life really helps. Great for meetings & classroom. Webcam is a bonus. Looking forward to taking it on international travel. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 The one you should get! Sunday, January 18, 2009 A Customer from San Antonio, Texas
This is a fantastic laptop. I am sufering on the internet for hours with no problems. The operating system is Microsoft XP. I prefer that then VISTA. The six hour battery is something you need to have specially if you are going to be surfing on the go. The webcam is great to talk to people from afar you have not seen fof awhile. I have not purchased a computer for years. I am very happy with this laptop. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great product Wednesday, January 14, 2009 Manny from Maitland, FL
As usual, I received my laptop just when it was promised and in great shape. The laptop was excellent. It is compact, but it has great features and other than not having a DVD drive it is more powerful than my full size Dell I bought last year.
This model came with 160GB hard drive, 6 cell battery (compared with 120GB & 3 cell battery from other stores) and 1GB of RAM, wi-fi. All this for $370! The kids loved it when they opened it and their friends were all jealous.
If you are looking for a compact laptop you can carry in any bag with powerful features, this is the computer for you. It does get a little on the hot side, but if you buy an inexpensive ($20) laptop cooling fan, you will have no problems. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great notebook Friday, January 09, 2009 A Customer from Fort Lauderdale, FL
This is a great notebook.
PROS:
Quickest boot I have ever seen. I have had many computers and have built my own as well.
Extreemly quiet. Usually there is no noise at all. When the fan comes on is is barely noticeable.
CONS:
As in all notebooks, the keyboard is small. After a short time you will get used to it and be typing at full speed in no time.
I dont like touch pads in general, I find them difficult to use. I bought a small wireless mouse and it is much easier.
OTHER:
Tilt the screen back so that it is about 45 degrees. It is easier to see that way.
GENERAL:
I am very satisfied with my purchase and would reccomend this notebook to anyone.

3 of 5 Wireless problems Thursday, January 08, 2009 Mike from Littleton NH
It worked just fine out of the box including wireless connectivity. I started to load programs and discovered that it would no longer connect to my wireless network (wired worked fine). I contacted Acer's on-line people and tried several things, including a "factory re-install", but the wireless still wouldn't work. The notebook is on its way to Texas to be fixed. I hadn't heard anything about this problem, but when I Googled "Acer Asprie One Problems" there were lots of others who were in the same boat. I love the size and just about everything about it, but it's not much use to me if i cannot connect wireless, reliably.

5 of 5 FANTASTIC AS A TRAVEL PC Thursday, January 08, 2009 BUCK from WINSTON-SALEM, NC
DEFINITELY NOT A MAIN PC, BUT FOR WHAT IT IS DESIGNED FOR, TRAVEL, IT IS GREAT. I WAS BORROWING A FRIEND'S IBM THINKPAD FOR MY TRAVELING, AND DECIDED I NEEDED MY OWN. AFTER LOOKING AROUND, IT WAS BETWEEN THIS AND THE ASUS. AFTER SEEING THE PROMO ON SHOPNBC (PRICE THERE TOO HIGH) I LEANED TOWARD THIS PC. THE PAYPAL REBATE PUSHED ME OVER THE EDGE AND I BOUGHT THIS ONE HERE AT BUY.COM. SO FAR...NO REGRETS. WORKED GREAT RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. I ALSO LIKED THE FACT IT HAD XP ON IT. I BOUGHT A SLIM DVD BURNING USB DRIVE AS A "JUST IN CASE" AND THAT COMPLETES THE BUNDLE. Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Issues Monday, January 05, 2009 A Customer from Richmnd,Va
I bought one of these when they first hit the market; wanted something super portable to replace my 17" for road trips. After 2 of these failed within a 3 week period, I finally gave up. The onboard Intel 950 Graphics Chipset failed on both; w/external monitor connected. I’m assuming the heat these generate was the cause, as I have same Chipset on larger Laptop’s w/o probs. Realizing they generated some major heat when I got the 1st one, I immediately put a Lapdesk w/fan underneath. It lasted just over 2 weeks at no less than 12 hours per day. Further believing the 1st failure may have been due to running in Dual Display Mode, I setup the 2nd one for Single Mode only. It failed after 3 days at nearly 20 hours per. These are a nice idea; however, since they were initially proven/tested within school enviornemnts, I question whether they got the testing they would have received otherwise. 5 of 5 Excellent Choice Monday, January 05, 2009 Slickdome from Streamwood, Illinois
This netbook has replaced an ageing Vaio laptop and has performed flawlessly. It's light weight and smaller screen works fine. The smaller keyboard is not a problem unless you are typing lengthly documents. I am using it with Delorme Street Atlas as a mobile GPS in my car. SDHC cards can be used to expand the storage. Battery life has been excellent. I have used an external USB DVD drive to load movies which I can view when I travel. I was not disappointed with this purchase would recommend it. 5 of 5 Its as good as my laptop Friday, January 02, 2009 A Customer from Atlanta, GA
Bought this netbook during the holiday sale season and got a very good deal on it. I was comparing this net book with the HP Mini. They were both priced the same but when I compared what I was getting for the money, Acer was definitely my pick.
I have read reviews of this net book and people have suggested that since its a net book the expectations should not be high. I have been running this machine for a month now and it performs as good as my laptop.
Its small so I can carry this anywhere. Its performance is really good even when I am running Microsoft Office tools along with browser windows.
The only negative point that I can bring out is the fan. It starts off as soon as you turn on the computer and remains on at all times. The sound could be annoying when you are sitting in a really quiet room.
I would definitely recommend this computer to anyone Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent value Monday, December 29, 2008 Fran from Madrid. Spain.
I was going to spend $1400 on the new Apple but after reading the bad reviews about its screen I decided to go for this model which it is simply amazing. It is light, the battery last long, is quite, it has a multi memory reader and built-in wire and wireless network card. And obviously it has a great screen. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great little laptop Tuesday, December 23, 2008 A Customer from San Diego, CA
I was looking for a small laptop with a usable keyboard it came down to this acer and the hp. I liked that this one offered the 6 cell battery and was cheaper than the HP which is why I chose it. The battery life is amazing. I have been using it as my laptop fulltime and the only downside for all day use is the small screen which is to be expected in such a small laptop. If it is hooked up to a monitor it is perfect for all day use. The performance is a little sluggish when you try to do much such as make a DVD and surfing the internet and listening to online radio stations again that is to be expected in this class of laptop. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Exceptional value!! Monday, December 22, 2008 CaptKallisto from Spring, Texas
I was skeptical at first even after reading all the reviews about how great this laptop was and now I too sing the same tune, I find myself using the Acer One a lot more than my larger 15" Compaq laptop when I am on the road. The screen has vivid color and is bright for bifocalled eyes. The wireless antennae works flawlessly and in some cases picks up more networks than my larger laptop does. It is the battery life that you will love, almost 5 hours depending on demands, when I use a laptop chill pad which is USB powered I lose about 1/2 hour of battery life if I use it consistently. The blue sapphire cover does collect fingerprints but if that's the biggest flaw, I can live with that. The keyboard takes a little getting used to, I have fat fingers, but after typing a few long emails you get used to the touch and off you go. All in all this little box is amazing and exceptional buy for the money. I like the features enough that I would buy another one and recommend to my friends and I dont say that about alot of products. Was this review helpful?
