I did a lot of research on this product before I purchased it. It turned out to be better and faster than I expected. No problems at all. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Misleading? Wednesday, May 06, 2009 Dakkota from Bloomsburg, Pa
Nothing would be misleading about the memory if you would read all of the information! Its tells you that it only has 8g mem. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Misleading Hard Drive Wednesday, April 22, 2009 K.C. from Chicago,Il
It claims it comes with a 16 Gig HD but ut really comes with a 8 Gig plus an 8 Gig sd card. Way to small, your os takes up almost all of it... Other than that GIANT proublem,, nice unit for the price. Look for a bigger HD. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good Netbook Saturday, April 18, 2009 A Customer from Cortland NY
I bought 2 of these for my nephews. They work great and connect well with the internet. I think the Windows XP swap file may be a future problem for the solid state drive which is barely large enough for XP. The netbooks came with 8gb SD cards which augment the solid state drive. I also have an Aspire One with a 120gb drive and a 6 cell battery and XP. I use it alot. It makes a great video player for DVD's, DIVX, and Youtube. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Great Value, but limited on memory Sunday, April 12, 2009 John from New York
I use mine for traveling, and it works great. It is small, light weight and is easy to pack. However, the 8G of memory is limiting. I am not able to load all of the software that I would like. If I were going to buy another one, I would spend the extra money and get one with a hard drive. Was this review helpful?

The best online shopping experience I had. Fast shipping. Received product at its best condition. Run in matter of seconds after getting out of the box. Everything run smoothly no problem whatsoever. Very satisfied. Like to order more for some of my family members and friends but it's out of stock already. How I wish it would be available again. Great buy and for the price, you'll never go wrong. 4 of 5 Good Little Computer Monday, March 30, 2009 Jon from Philadelphia, PA
Pros- Good processor, ok ram. Nice to have 8 GB SD flash with it. Nice webcam. XP Home is a plus ........ Cons- SSD is small and slow. Fills up with windows and a few programs (office, symantec, etc) Functionality decreases while on battery noticeably while on battery........ Final thoughts- I upgraded to 1.5 GB Ram as soon as I got it. The SSD is a little slow and I have replaced it with a 1.8" PATA which functions better. Also with the SSD it works better if you turn on paging. SSD filled up quickly with 2.4 GB of windows, and about 2 GB of programs (default stuff, office, AIM, and antivirus). If you turn on paging that takes another 1-2 GB. Formatted space is only 7.4 GB. Nice laptop though for the price, just suggest the 120GB or 160GB versions. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Little Computer, I love it ! Friday, March 20, 2009 MK from Phila.,PA
I received the computer 2 weeks ago and am very happy with it so far. I did however purchase a 6 cell battery for it since it came with a 3 cell & I wanted it to have more time during battery use for when I travel. My grandson took off some of the programs that were only free trials or that I would never use & put on programs & games I will use & I still have plenty of SSD space between the internal & exterior SD card. All in all it runs pretty quick once it boots up. The key board is very easy to use as after reading other reviews I did have some concern. I would suggest if you have any questions about the feel of the computer you go to your local store that carries it & check it out. That is what I did before purchashing it from Buy.com who I am also very happy with... Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Gotta get this! Tuesday, March 17, 2009 Rusty Weller from Waynesboro, VA
Oh my goodness, this is a fantastic product! Great price and fast delivery, too! I got it for my invalid wife who often can't get up to use our desktop. We couldn't be more pleased. She absolutely loves it! Calls it "MiniMe" and keeps it on the bed beside her.
By the way, trust these reviews -- I checked them out thoroughly before buying. What they say, at least up until a month ago, holds true.
Yes, there is only an 8-gig hard drive in the unit, with another 8 on an removeable SD card in the side. But USB flash drives are dirt cheap these days. (Buy.com's got 4Gs under $10 delivered!) And you can plug in an external HDD of cavernous size if needed.
And, yes, it doesn't have a CD reader/writer let alone a DVD player, but again an external unit, linked via USB, isn't that expensive. (I canibalized a desktop for both its hard drive and CD/DVD burner for the nominal expense of USB-linked enclosures.)
It's got good CPU power for even RAM hogs like Photoshop, so go ahead and get one. Now. Seriously. I mean it. Hurry. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Sweet! Monday, March 16, 2009 LostTribeArts from Western Mass
As a graphic designer and intensive computer user, when I first saw a netbook, I wondered why anyone would want something that's just an internet device -- what can you do with it but check your email and surf the web? Well, my kids are the users of the future; they research homework online, stream videos, write papers with web-based software, store documents online, instant message, listen to internet radio, and on and on. They don't require a dvd drive or a big hard drive for storage...just stripped down internet speed and access.etc.
This little gem doesn't have a dvd drive nor much disk space to speak of; it doesn't have MS Office or even a particularly fast processor. But without some of the bells and whistles that eat up resources on larger laptops, the proceesor moves plenty fast.
The keyboard is smaller than standard -- but not noticeably so; it's great for kids' smaller hands but doesn't feel cramped or silly to my grown-up hands.
The screen quality is gorgeous, lush, rich and crisp. So what if it's only 9 inches? Even my middle-aged eyes can make out every detail.
Battery life is fair. I'd like it to be longer but it's enough to watch a movie download through to the end. The speakers are...well, laptop speakers. They do a serviceable job and lets face it, you're probably not looking for this kind of device to experience the best of your mp3 collection.
It features a built-in webcam that is, again, serviceable but evidences a slight (and occasionally disconcerting) delay and a little jumping. Prety good image quality, though.
All else aside, the Aspire One is roughly the size and weight of a large trade paperback. It slips easily into the kids' school bags. And, since yes, I ended up buying one for myself as well, I still get a thrill to be able to tuck it into a small shoulder bag or even just under my arm, and go. In spite of the diminutive size, nothing about the Aspire One feels cheap; The feel of it in your hand, opening up and using the keyboard is across the board solid and substantial.
One other note: my kids have reached the age when access to their own computers is more or less expected by their school. I gulped hard at the prospect of shelling out what it would take to equip them with laptops and frankly, I'd been hoping to purchase one for myself. I bought one Acer Aspire One -- refurbished, no less -- to test drive it myself. I was won over and outfitted each member of the family with a refurbished device...all for the cost of a single good quality new laptop.
This little device is sweet

5 of 5 Great little computer Friday, March 13, 2009 Mary Kay from Phila.,Pa
I received this netbook a week ago & love it.. I did however purchase an extra 6 cell battery, the only down fall was it did not come with one. My grandson removed programs I did not need & added some I do. I loaded on a bunch of pictures & games I play & between the programs, pictures & the games I still have plenty of space left for more stuff. It runs pretty fast & with the 6 cell battery I get between 5 to 6 hrs of use. I have a regular Acer laptop & bought this one because I was very satisfied with it but it was too heavy to take on vacation. This little baby even with the 6 cell battery is still under 3 lbs... 4 of 5 Great spare computer Sunday, March 01, 2009 Robert from Marietta, GA
We have an older desktop and an older laptop (this Aspire One has more RAM than both). The desktop is our workhorse and the laptop was for surfing in front of the TV. It is heavy, has an external wireless USB dongle that gets in the way, and it's slow. I bought the Aspire to have a convenient way to surf the net, check email, facebook, etc. It's perfect for those uses. Mine has the 8GB solid state drive and it works fine as long as I delete the crud my son downloads. It is advertised as having 16GB, but only 8GB is available on your C: drive for running apps. I read somewhere that the Linux version recognizes both the internal 8GB and the Storage Expansion as usable hard drive, but my Windows XP version does not. It just recognizes the Storage Expansion as another drive. I don't need much external storage since I have a 250GB NAS so this was a disappointment. Otherwise, I'm happy with this purchase, especially at around $250. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 A great addition! Sunday, March 01, 2009 David from Strongsville, Oh
I am quite satisfied with the purchase of this netbook. It came with XP but I never booted in to windows. I chose to install Linpus lite and customize it to my needs. It was a great decision for me.
The battery lasts around 3hrs, especially with the WIFi turned off. It boots in less than 20 seconds. It is stable. What else could I ask for.
I would suggest using a mouse with this netbook when possible since the touch pad can be a little sensative.

5 of 5 Size matters Wednesday, February 18, 2009 A Customer from Wilton Manors, Florida
I just got this little machine and loved it! Easy to use, fast, compact, light for everyday trips, crystal clear resolution and capable to perform basic tasks.
I own a Dell Inspiron 1525 which I adore but is a bit to heavy to travel. So, by adding the Acer I just completed my dreams.
Nevertheless, I regret that the machine is not loaded with Windows Word but Windows Work which is an annoying program.
It's my first purchase at Buy.com and I'm impressed by the quick service in delivering my order. Thanks! I shall return to you again.

5 of 5 Great little Netbook Sunday, January 25, 2009 Brian from Texas
I bought this unit on a whim. I am disappointed with the near fraudulent representation of the 16GB SSD drive.
The 8GB SSD drive is really too small to do much with so spend the few extra dollars and get the model with the 160GB HD. Or even better get the one with the 160G HD and the 6 Cell battery.
None the less, I've replaced the SSD with a 1.8" 80G HD and successfully loaded WinXP, Fedora 10 and Mac OS X. This is a fantastic do-it-all Netbook perfect for the hacker types and quite functional in the Linux version for the non-hacker types.
Order yours today, you'll love it! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Amazing Saturday, January 17, 2009 mm9351 from New York, NY
This netbook does pretty much everything my full size Acer laptop and Dell desktop can handle. It is a marvel of engineering packaging. It delivers quite speedy performance with built in Windows XP, 1GB RAM,N270 Intel Atom processor and 8 GB SSD drive. Storage space really insn't an issue since there are 2 SDHC slots plus 3 USB ports. The only thing it lacks is a CD/DVD drive, but you have many options to load software from the internet,or using an external hard drive or even transferring software / programs to your SDHCs or USB keys using your desktop PC.
The only drawback is that hardware upgrades such as 1.5GB RAM, though possible, are not for the faint of heart; the entire unit needs to be disassembled. However, what you will like most about this Aspire is the bright and crisp display, finger friendly keyboard, small form factor, and light-weight design. Battery life with standard 3 cell design is approx 3 hours. This thing works right out of the box. Everyone who sees it can't wait to get their hands on one. Stores have a tough time keeping them in stock. And for some reason it's becoming my favorite over my full size Dell desktop and Acer laptop. Overall I cannot be more pleased with this tiny netbook on and I give it 5 big stars. Was this review helpful?

I now have bought the Asus, Dell, and Acer version of their netbook. So far, this one is my favorite. The Asus version did not have the Atom Processor. The Dell does, but at a $200 premium. This things is running great!
The only beef I have is the website states 16GB SSD.... WRONG!
It is an 8gb ssd, plus an 8gb SDHC card. For some reason, they think they should still call this a 16GB SSD, which is definately not. So do keep this in mind when researching.
But overall, I would still prefer this over the others.
Also, this Acer is a tad bit wider, and with the key layouts, the keys are the tiniest bit larger than the others, but makes all the difference in the world! Was this review helpful?
