    this computer is very good for school work. i got it on black friday morning for my wife, on line at buy.com for cheap . other site had it for up to $500.00 hundred dollars i paid a little less with a rebate check to follow soon. it is very fast empowering technology and crystal brite with 560 processor.     I purchased this laptop for my wife for Christmas so she can take it on the job with her. Now that she has set it up to look more like WinXP Pro it is much easier to navigate in Vista. Although we would have preferred Window XP Pro....you can't beat the price and performance. The only thing we are not happy with is the battery. We thought the charge would last longer then 1 1/2 hours. Is that normal or should the charge last longer? Sometimes an outlet is not available.

    First off I mainly use this computer for web browsing, writing and the kids play some E rated online games on it (most frequently one that involves nonflying birds). While this computer does not have the dual core technology so prevalent in many laptops, I have not found it slow for our needs. The manufacturer does load several programs you may choose to remove, which can be tedious, but that's something you only have to do once. It is a bit heavy, 6.2 lbs, so we don't move it around a lot, but you can. (which is why my overall satisfaction is just 4) And the battery life is 2 hours at an absolute max, and you'll compromise speed, visuals and connectivity to get that, so make sure there's always a plug nearby. The screen is nice and bright and easy to read, colors sharp. The touch pad sensitivity is okay, I did reset that but it works fine out of the box. It meets our needs - a semi-portable computer we can move around the house and take with us on trips, very well.

    I found the computer nicely packed in mostly recyclable materials in sturdy boxes. I love the shiny black shell. The CrystalBrite screen shows images with little or no glare. The keyboard has a simple layout. I plugged the cord in to recharge the battery and when it was charged was up and running in no time. This is a good entry level model. It has the features and just enough ports to satisfy the casual user. I upgraded the memory to 2 Gig and have had great success with download and page load speeds. Upgrading the memory was simple and straightforward, however the cover underneath took a little bit of work to pry off being careful not to bend it too much. Overall I am completely satisfied.     This is an excellent computer for someone who is a casual user and does not need much in the way of computing power. Windows Vista is not really any better than Windows XP. Since this computer is not very fast, XP would be a better operating system for improving performance. Anyone who knows computers would tell you that if you want performance you would stay away from this computer. However, if you are a casual user and only intend to use this computer for basic email/internet and office work, then the value is worth it. It is heavy, but this is the price you pay for having a larger screen and CD-rom drive. Two problems I have encountered with this laptop was installing Norton Systematic (Instead of the pre-installed McAfee), and with my wireless card on WPA2 secured wireless networks. Neither were difficult to overcome with some basic computer knowledge, however, it is just annoying that Acer software prevents the installation of Norton (You have to turn off all the preloaded software when installing it) and the fact that Acer did not have the latest drivers for the wireless card installed. The latter issue is more likely to affect casual users with home networks. If you change your security encryption to WEP, the wireless card works fine without upgrading drivers.

    There is absolutely nothing wrong with the notebook computer, but I wish it had a different operating system. This is my first experience with Vista, and so far, I do not like it at all. I know that I could downgrade to XP, but it seems more complicated than what I want to attempt at this time. Maybe later.

    Purchased this laptop for my wife in the PTA, we were pleasantly surprised at how nice it really was at a value price. Soft Keyboard, very crisp display, nice shell... somewhat fast, but dragged because it had Windows Vista installed from the factory First thing I did was download the SATA drivers (Google aspire 5315 SATA) for windows xp and reformat the hard disk for XP. There are several sites that will provide all of the drivers to install XP. You have to install the SATA hard drive first -XP SP2 will not find the hard disk. Now with XP this laptop is VERY fast 2.1GHZ/1GB Ram

    This is a very nice computer. I only have a couple things that I don't like, 1. Its got Windows Vista Home Basic preloaded. If it has to be Vista at least they could have put Home Premium. 2. The keyboard looks like it fits securely but when you rest your hands on it to use the mouse pad it feels like it give a small amount and squeeks like a cricket rubbing it's legs together. Very annoying. 3. The 80 gig hard drive is rather small for this day and time. 4. The hard drive came pre-partitioned as two drives. Didn't realize this until I had filled the "C" drive.
