5 of 5 Great Display with Mac Tuesday, September 23, 2008
A Customer from Oakland, CA
Great display for use with my Macbook - I hooked it up, closed my laptop lid, re-woke my machine from sleep with a USB keyboard and it worked instantly. Great deal too.

5 of 5 Perfect Tuesday, September 16, 2008
Judge from San Antonio
I am as skeptical as they come, but this product is brilliant. At this price, I'd buy a second monitor right now IF I could fool my new Vista-based desktop into accepting a dual-monitor configuration.

4 of 5 Good Monitor for the Price Monday, September 15, 2008
A Customer from Jacksonvile FL
It's hard to find a non-Mac monitor that works well enough with a Mac at this price. It's still not as good looking as my Macbook screen that sits right next to it, but it's close enough and when not working with graphics programs it's fine. We watch t.v. programs on it as well and it is clear and defined.

4 of 5 Acer 22" monitor Monday, September 15, 2008
Satya from Gainesville, FL
The purchase has always been smooth, efficient and hassle free with Buy.com. Order from Buy.com, and in a week or less the merchandise is at your door. The price is reasonable. For my purpose, the monitor is of good size with crisp and clear images and letters. The wide size helps opening several windows side by side. Just plug it in and it is ready to go. I am enjoying the monitor from day one.

5 of 5 Great value, great monitor Wednesday, September 10, 2008
Tim from Pittsburgh
The 1680 x 1050 res won't run properly with my laptop but the 1280 x 1024 looks pretty good. Using a VGA cable, although I like having the DVI option when I finally build a system. I suspect the provided VGA cable (or my laptop output) has an issue as sometimes it loses its color and I have to jiggle it even though I used a screwdriver to tighten the cable. Overall, very satisfied with the monitor although be prepared for things to look differently with the widescreen.

5 of 5 Great LCD for the money! Wednesday, September 10, 2008
A Customer from Plainfield, IL
You can't go wrong with this Acer screen. Other LCDs may perform better but for the price, you can't complain. It comes with a 3-year warranty too which is a big plus.

5 of 5 Great display, great price Wednesday, August 20, 2008
Bill from San Antonio, TX
This is a really nice display- crisp text and graphics, plenty of room. I have 3 similar displays from Acer (the oldest one being about 2 yrs old) and all work great - no problems. I use Macintosh and the digital input to the display is just plug and play - it just works. Delivery from Buy.com was fast. No problems. Everything should be this easy and efficient.

5 of 5 Bought two more. Great value! Tuesday, August 12, 2008
Bruce from Minneapolis, MN
Just bought two more. Paired them with PNY GeForce 6200 AGP for legacy AGP motherboards to see the boot-up screen. - See my review of Sunday, August 12, 2007 - I have eight of these for personal use and use in my wife's design office. They are a great value. If you have an older graphics card, it may not recognize the monitor on boot up (so you won't see the boot sequence.) No problem for me, since I rarely have to access the bios, once I configure a machine. (And I have a small LCD to hook up when I need to.) I highly recommend these monitors and plan to buy one more so I can double the real estate on my own computer.

Had it for a week now and absolutely love it. It is great to watch blu ray movies on and also great for gaming. Price was excellent can't beat it. Seen screens similar to this sold in stores for $75 to $100 more than here. What a bargain.

5 of 5 Great Value 22" Wide Screen Monday, June 16, 2008
JST from Altanta, GA
This monitor says what it does and does what it says. It meets my expectations. As another reviewer mentioned, if you need one that rotates or adjusts up/down, you will need to pay more for another brand/model. On the highest resolution I notice a little bit of pixel flickering, but it is possible it may be my integrated graphics driver or some interference. Finally, a plug for Buy.com. They are my FAVORITE Etailer.

4 of 5 Not bad Friday, June 13, 2008
FD347 from NY NY
I have no prior experience with LCDs so I can't base this review on anything but my current purchase. I too upgraded from a CRT (15-inch)and the initial impact is "sheesh, this thing's big!" It's a good price for a basic panel. I had to knock down the overall rating to 4 stars for 1 reason - the color. Almost every low-end panel comes only in black. I looked around for weeks for a white 22" unit and they don't exist in this price range (or I couldn't find one). It sticks out like a sore thumb on my white desk in a white hutch so this isn't a kick to Acer in particular, but to all LCD makers. How about giving us a choice, eh?

5 of 5 Its like a billboard! Sunday, May 25, 2008
Clint from Apple Creek, OH
I upgraded from a 17" CRT... So this thing is humungous! What's even funnier is I paid more for my old CRT... I've had this monitor for a few weeks now and I'm in love. I watch movies, do music and video editing, and many other things that were a pain to do with my little monitor. It's bright and colorful. It doesn't glitch or lag at all. I'm EXTREMELY happy with it! Can you hear the heavenly choir singing in the background? It's not HD, but for $200 including shipping??? I still hear the choir... AHHHH

5 of 5 Great value for the money Saturday, May 24, 2008
A Customer from Hemet, CA
You just can't beat the price, and this is a decent LCD monitor. It arrived with one dead pixel awkwardly close to the center of the screen, which can be occasionally annoying, but not annoying enough to put everything back as it was and deal with the shipping back and forth and proof of purchase and all that kinda crap. I just got unlucky and got a dead pixel. The low contrast ratio is not a problem. You really don't need 10,000:1. This may become an issue as the monitor ages, but for a little over $200 you just can't beat it. Buy a new one. This is a large but low end LCD. Setup is straightforward if you RTFM, otherwise it can be a little confusing figuring out which button does what. I've watched quite a bit of streaming content from Netflix and the picture quality is excellent. Note that I'm using an analog hookup because my notebook graphics card only goes to 1200 x 800. Perfectly acceptable for most purposes. As I use it, highly recommended. As a digital monitor with 1650 x 1050 native, I'm sure it would be quite stunning for visual design work, or for watching DVDs off a progressive scan player. I'm good with 1200 x 800 for everything I do, which includes a fair bit of Photoshop work. You just can't beat this deal. As usual, Buy.com was super prompt with their free shipping, as in 2 days after ordering. Dinged 1 point on performance because of the dead pixel. But I'm more or less happy as a pig in **** with this monitor. Sure kicks my notebook monitor's butt.

5 of 5 What a simple installation! Wednesday, May 21, 2008
A Customer from San Francisco, CA
Everything the other reviewers have said regarding the ease of setup is correct. Out of the box, hook it up, and change your screen resolution and you're up and running. I was also impressed with the ability of the monitor to make it's own color adjustments. I haven't even needed to touch the adjusting buttons.

5 of 5 Undeniable value Thursday, May 15, 2008
A Customer from Austin, TX
After six months of ownership I give the AL2216W five-stars across the board considering the product for the price. Ignoring price I'd have to lower the "performance" down to a "mere" four stars compared to some of the stand-outs in the 20+ inch LCD category that have enticingly rich, deep color displays (not that this Acer looks bad -- it looks quite good). I currently own six LCD monitors, one LCD TV and one plasma TV plus I used to sell and install home theater displays so I feel I have a decent amount of personal experience to judge general display quality. I feel the Acer is great for most all users -- the exception would be those doing serious graphic work that depends on precice color coordination with real world objects. The primary "con" I can point to is the lack of a height-adjustable stand but that's a feature not normally found in this price range under any brand. I've used this panel extensively for programming, gaming and low-quality video (YouTube, MSNBC, online training, etc). The monitor is beautiful for normal use and responds very well to a range of games including WoW, Eve and BF2142. I'm using an Nvidia 8600GT-series card with 512MB video memory in a dual-monitor setup along with a standard 4x3 19-inch auxillary LCD panel. (A standard 19-inch has the same display height as a 22-inch widescreen, in case you were wondering.) This is all on Vista Home Premuim with 4GB ram on an AMD X2 CPU (2GHz). Vista sometimes chugs a bit but the graphics and this monitor are great. The combination of performance, low price, no tax and free shipping make this a "highly recommended" panel to anyone looking to get maximum panel size for minimum investment.

5 of 5 Great buy! Wednesday, May 14, 2008
Gretchen from Baltimore, MD
After using a 17in. LCD screen for several years it took a few days getting used to the wide screen. But it's great! The color is vibrant and clear and its easily adjustable if you need to do that. The only thing I wish the monitor could do is adjust the height up and down. But for the price I paid, it couldn't be better. Plus, with google check-out I got an additional $20 off. With that additional money off I could afford to pay for the 2-day shipping which was much better than having to wait for a week or more. All in all, I couldn't have done better for the money.

5 of 5 Brilliant Monitor, Superb Value Thursday, May 08, 2008
Seb from Princeton, NJ
A 22" widescreen LCD is simply the best value for money, because the 24" ones cost about $150-200 more. I chose to implement this as a dual monitor setup, as I often work with large spreadsheets and need to cut-paste between documents. My other monitor is an older Acer 22" - X221W. One observation I have is when placing this side-by-side with the old one, I had to reduce the brightness to about 40%, the default was simply too bright. Buy.com has the best price, especially considering the free shipping. Even with free shipping, this arrived via FedEx ground 4 days after I placed the order. I wish the stand could swivel 90 degrees for portrait mode, but that may be too much to expect at this rock bottom price. I've decided to go for an Ergtron dual monitor desk stand. Overall, delighted with this purchase, and will most certainly buy from Buy.com again.

5 of 5 Amazing deal Friday, May 02, 2008
silly_king.no.spam.ever. from Glenmoore, PA
Buy.com must have a distribution center next to my house. i got the free shipping and still the monitor was here on the 2nd day... can't beat that. i also have to agree with other reviewers that the quality of this monitor is spectacular. No dead pixels, great resolution, excellent contrast - i was a little worried by the 700:1 ratio, which is lower than other monitors, but there's no need to worry. for typical (and probably atypical) applications, this monitor is fantastic. Maybe even superfantastic.

5 of 5 The Best Monitor On any of our systems Sunday, April 20, 2008
A Customer from Rocklin, CA
This is by far the best monitor we have on any of our 22 systems. Easy to use right out of the box, brilliant color and light source. I use this in a dual monitor system and know that I am going to have to ditch the other side and get a second one of these monitors. When I view this new monitor next to my older one, It truely amazes me how much I've missed out on and how much less tired my eyes are at the end of the day. I switched from a 20" LG LCD to this 22" Acer, and it's more than just a difference in the size. The clarity and colors make the difference. I used the revolutionary card discount ($50)which brought the price down to under $$179.99.

5 of 5 Outstanding Product Saturday, April 19, 2008
Kevin C. from Miami, Florida
When I bought this I thought that I was going to get dead pixels or something like that because of the price. However, the monitor came in perfect shape (hard to believe from Fedex)and in working condition. If you don't use speakers on the monitor, or just don't care about them (like myself), this monitor is for you. If you don't need extra USB ports (USB 2.0 powered hubs are better) then this monitor is an excellent buy.

5 of 5 A top choice Saturday, April 12, 2008
BigL from Chicago
Used for 6 months, am now writing a review. Results... Great! The monitor does what it says it's going to do. It is not very high-end and isn't supposed to be but operation is outstanding for me. I do do image editing and this monitor is not made for it but passes. It is very good for gaming and for giving that extra room that programs are clamoring for. Best results when run at 1680x1050, no dead pixels, great color (not for image editing), ok for video, redraw what it is. The wobble thing only happens with you knock the monitor or ram into the table it's on. It does tilt forward and backward. Am very happy with this purchase. Would buy another but now desire at least 24"!!!

5 of 5 Great bang for the buck Thursday, March 27, 2008
A Customer from Orange County, NY
Got this for $170 after revolution card $50 promo and $10 off computer store order of $200 or more. But even at the $230 price tag still an awesome buy. I bought it for my HTPC running Vista WMC and it looks great. Awesome picture when watching TV and the viewing angle is great. Super thin and small border/frame around screen- this thing is all screen! Vesa compliant as well (picked up a folding arm wall mount for $35. DVI as well. This one is a no brainer.

5 of 5 Acer monitor from Buy.com Sunday, February 10, 2008
Vinny from Andover, NJ
This could not have arrived any quicker if the truck was at the end of my driveway waiting for me to hit the send key with normal shipping. Buy.com is fantastic. This is my 2nd Acer monitor, the other one is a 15. Based on the quality of the 1st one & other reviews of this model, I knew it would be good. Good was an underestimation - the quality is unbelievable, especially for the price. I opened the box, plugged it in and it was working (IBM notebook Win XP-Pro). Didn't even need the disks. The printed documentation is lacking in details for the settings. The details might be on the disk but, like I said, I didn't need the disk to get it working just fine. Buy.com - 5 stars Acer monitors - 5 stars

5 of 5 Most Monitor for the Money Saturday, February 09, 2008
DrewU2 from Virginia
Just received the Acer AL2216W from FEDEX yesterday and was pleasantly suprised. It is big, clear, great for everyday use, games and especially movies. I watched Apollo 13 on it and it looks like a high quality HDTV. For $240 this is a great deal. A couple years ago $240 would only get you (maybe) a 19" 4:3 lcd. This monitor is all you need. I used it to replace 2 17" lcd monitors and it does the trick. I have owned a few Acer products and they have all been solid. Keep up the good work. And Buy.com shipped it in one day on free budget shipping. Sweet.

5 of 5 This monitor is great, but need video card to get Friday, February 08, 2008
A Customer from Fowler, Michigan
I replaced an old 19" (actual) CRT with this new monitor. I can't believe how much more I can fit on the screen, not to mention all the extra desk space that I suddenly have. I have been using this monitor for about 4 months and I am very satisfied with my purchase. Just need to upgrade the video card to get the max resolution.

3 of 5 Annoying background hum Sunday, February 03, 2008
A Customer from Kettering, OH
I am having the same negative experience with two of these monitors. There is an annoying background hum at all brightness levels below 95 (range 0-100) that gives me a headache. Both units have gone back and i am back at square one in my lcd monitor search. there are very few complaints about this anywhere so perhaps i was unlucky and got two bad units with low quality power supplies. Acer has been horrible to deal with so i sent them back to my vendor who has been very understanding. The size, picture quality and price are really excellent but this minor issue with the hum was enough to turn me off. both units were made in Oct 2007 so perhaps they got a bad batch of power supplies in the factory. I tried several different configurations and power setups to no avail. Maybe earplugs should come in the box, too!

I've had this monitor since mid-December and like it very much. It replaced a bulky 21" Hi Res CRT that I've had for many years. It's a snap to set up and use OTB, though I had to tone down the brightness a few notches. So far it's performed without a hitch and I'm glad I made the jump to an LCD.

My new Acer monitor arrived in just a few days. No dead pixels, color is great, and I am very happy with it.
