5 of 5 Very Nice Monitor Monday, May 12, 2008 Reacher from Pensacola, FL
Had a Google Checkout Coupon, needed a LCD WS monitor for a 2nd computer and Buy.com had a great price. The monitor needs some adjusting which I'm preparing to do. Brightness is a little much but adjustable. Worked right out of the box and has worked well with XP and Vista 64 bit. One of the things I liked was that I didn't have to pay for speakers that will never be used. Acer is really doing a great job of providing some really nice quality electronics. Great for gaming or movies! You will not be disappointed in this monitor. As for Buy.com? They continue to impress me with the quality of service, follow-up and quick shipping. Thanks Buy.com! One last note: If you haven't taken advantage of Google Checkout you're spending too much! Was this review helpful?

I have a computer consulting business, and have been looking at this monitor for quite a while but too cheap to buy it for myself. I have seen this model at retailers and started to buy one for a great price at Midwest in Cincinnati where I absolutely fell in love. But they had an odd version of the panel without DVI! No sale. Got one for a client and they were blown away. At this point I could take it no longer and bought one myself. I am very pleased although I've had it one day.
I do have it connected through the DVI (digital) card. It is very crisp, NO dead pixels as so many people mentioned, and I am almost thinking of using just one display now. Naaah, I need two of these things and replace both my old 19" CRTs. I can do wordprocessing, for example, in Hebrew blown up to 200% in order to see vowel-points showing the full page, and still have room for more programs partially visible. Sitting the panel next to the CRT is a little distracting because of height and size differences. This difference is major according to what I told my wife when mentioning getting a matching panel.
If your eyes are important -duh- you should know that a LCD panel works differently than CRTs ("TV" type-cathode ray tube) displays. CRTs shoots "lines" across your screen, and although you may not notice this, there is a pulsing effect as the screen redraws line by line as the electron gun(s) creates what you see. This wears your eyes. (Notice how many glasses prescriptions you have used since computing?)However, a LCD panel is less straining to your eyes. The pixels (dots of color I suppose you could say) filling your display are turned "off or on" with appropriate colors to make the "big picture." Resolution means how many pixels the display offers horizontally and vertically. Dot pitch is how small each pixel is. These newer panels are great and read the specs for this Acer. BUT before you buy a 22" see if the resolution is the same as a 20". This will tell you that the pixels of the 22" are stretched or "fatter" and consider if this will make a difference to you (i.e., your distance away from the screen). Don't be surprised to learn that some panels will have a bad pixel or more. That's why we all rant about this Acer model when we see NO dead ones. Big numbers for brightness and contrast are important also.
So for the price running about 189 to 240 and performance and quality of the actual screen display (the stand /housing are adequate) this is a good purchase for you. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 satisfied! Friday, November 30, 2007 A Customer from Basking Ridge, NJ
The resolution is very good (I use the screen for work, not for DVD/movies). The base is small enough to fit on my small desk and I can tilt the screen for adjustment. The price was good - excellent value! Was this review helpful?

I ordered this product, and knew that I wasn't going to receive a very high-end LCD monitor, but still expected that it would have a decent lifespan. Two weeks after purchasing it the screen has gone almost completely dark and now I have to figure out how to work with Acer to get a replacement or have this product fixed. Extremely frustrating. After receiving the Acer 20" monitor we were uncertain about one aspect while hooking it up to our existing computer. Your service staff was excellent in answering our questions and guiding us through the set-up. The monitor is excellent and we are very pleased with our whole experience with buy.com. We will tell everyone of our experience and you can bet we will be using your company for many of our future needs. Thanks a bunch, Ken Fisher/Vice President, Nu-Safe Floors Was this review helpful?

Out of the box, the monitor worked like a charm. Hooked it up via the DVI port (cable included), adjusted my Display settings, and viola, crisp and bright resolution. No dead pixels, and what I like the most is that I don't see any object in the background. Contrast ratio is very acceptable.
By the way, kudos to Buy.com as they delivered the monitor in two days. Was this review helpful?

I am very pleased with my new monitor - looks sharp, works great. The resolution I am using for optimum viewing is 1360 over 768, to get full size text and graphics. It would have saved me some trouble if they would have indicated somewhere that the drivers automatically install when the monitor is hooked up, as there is no driver disk and just a warning to make sure your computer supports the maximum resolution. I have checked around and haven't seen a price to match what I paid. Good value. Was this review helpful?

This monitor is good, but not perfect. The stand should be a couple of inches higher with a larger vertical swivel range. This can be compensated for by lifting and tilting. The screen is bright and the colors are impressive. It does a good job displaying video. The wide screen format is great if your graphics environment supports its native 1680 by 1050 pixel resolution. I would advise against getting this monitor if your graphics environment doesn't support the native resolution. I have an older MAC G4 where I couldn't find a display resolution that wasn't distorted in some way. However, it works great on a newer PC that supports 1680X1050. Was this review helpful?

I've had this monitor for a few weeks, and I've been quite pleased with it. Beautiful contrast, vivid color, sharp text, excellent response time. Even works well for gaming. And not a single dead pixel. Even does a decent job at expanding other resolutions to fit. A few minor complaints: The monitor stand doesn't tilt backwards as far as I'd like, a height adjustment would be appreciated, and at some vertical viewing angles, the screen tends to appear slightly reddish. It's a fantastic value, and I'm considering buying a second for a dual monitor setup.

5 of 5 BEST INVESTMENT IN YEARS Sunday, June 10, 2007 CDKIRB@YAHOO.COM from MCKINNEY.TX
I RECENTLY BOUGHT THIS LCD AFTER USING A 16 INCH PHILIPS CRT FOR THE LAST 6 YEARS, AFTER OWNING IT FOR WEEK, I'VE CONCLUDED THAT IT'S THE BEST CHOICE I'VE MADE IN YEARS. THIS 20 INCH LCD IS BY FAR THE ONLY PATH TO GO IN MONITORS. IT'S CLEAN.CRISP PICTURE IS THE FINEST I'VE EVER SEEN. IT DOES TAKE A BIT TO ADJUSTING THE SCREEN OPTIONS IN THE MENU OPTIONS ,BUT WELL WORTH THE TIME, I'LL NEVER GO BACK TO T |
