Chapter One

Man, You Can

"Men don't cook." People tell me this all the time. That's a load of bull-we've been charring giant slabs of meat ever since we discovered fire.
The difference now is that we have better things to do. Why slave over a hot stove when we could be cooking up plans for a golf outing? Or warming up at the gym? Or making things sizzle in the bedroom?

5 of 5 Great book for guys Tuesday, June 25, 2002
A Reader from Hartford CT

This is the perfect gift for any member of the male persuasion who has limited culinary skills. The recipes are extremely simple - just a few ingredients and simple preparation directions. There's a picture of each item you need to help you find it in the store. The whole book is prepared with heavy cardboard pages - like in children's books - to survive spills and stains. As a bonus the dishes look reasonably classy and are healthy. Even the recipe language is oriented towards guys - no wimpy phrases like "mix ingredients and then cook in a microwave". Instead you get guy talk: "slop all the ingredients together and nuke it." A perfect gift for college graduates or guys moving to their own place who don't know how to cook!
