A Hundred Miles or More: A Collection is comprised of 16 tracks, highlighting Alison Krauss' career outside of her traditional releases with long time band Union Station. The album features Krauss' collaboration with John Waite on the single "Missing You," as well as Krauss' contributions to film soundtracks, including the Oscar nominated songs "The Scarlet Tide" and "You Will Be My Ain True Love," written for the motion picture Cold Mountain and "Down to the River to Pray" from the film O Brother, Where Art Thou? Known for her collaborations, Krauss also includes several duets in the collection such as the 2003 hit with Brad Paisley, "Whiskey Lullaby," and her duet with James Taylor for the tribute album Livin', Lovin', Losin': Songs of The Louvin Brothers, "How's the World Treating You." The collection debuts five new songs - "You're Just a Country Boy," "Jacob's Dream," "Simple Love," "Lay Down Beside Me," and "Away Down the River," all of which feature Krauss as a producer.

Although the subtitle suggests that A HUNDRED MILES OR MORE is just a standard greatest hits set, this anthology is actually something far more useful. The career-spanning 16-track set gathers nearly all of Alison Krauss's soundtrack appearances, guest shots on other folks' albums, tribute songs, and a handful of other rarities. By gathering all this material in one place, it's a hugely useful album for fans, but on its own musical merits, A HUNDRED MILES OR MORE contains some of Alison Krauss's best work. Highlights include "Down to the River to Pray," her haunting a cappella addition to the Grammy winning O BROTHER WHERE ART THOU soundtrack, and her version of Elvis Costello's "The Scarlet Tide" from the soundtrack to the Civil War romance COLD MOUNTAIN.

Bio
Alison Krauss

Alison Krauss grew up in Champaign, Illinois, where her parents encouraged her and her brother, Viktor, to play instruments at an early age. Soon after she began playing the violin, Alison discovered fiddle contests and bluegrass festivals. Her initial acclaim was as an instrumentalist, a standout young fiddler who won championships, but soon it was her voice that captivated everyone's attention.

Rounder Records signed Alison as an artist when she was fourteen. As her career progressed, she has developed her skills as a producer and arranger, and is known for her knack for finding great songs. In addition to producing her own recordings with Union Station, Alison has produced three albums for the Cox Family. In her spare time she pursues interests in roller-skating and 70s rock.

Alison remains in demand for studio work. She has sung and played on recordings by such artists as Bad Company, Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, Alan Jackson, Michael McDonald, Dolly Parton and Phish. Alison is currently the youngest member of the Grand Ole Opry.
