| | | A memoir with a practical purpose and a cookbook with a life beyond the kitchen, this resource offers 50 recipes full of fresh flavors, and the author''s lessons from the kitchen that show who people are, who they love, and who they want to be. Annotation: Molly Wizenberg's deeply compelling story is an infinitely readable memoir about how her father's death changed the direction of her life--from academia to the kitchen. With pieces from her internationally popular blog, Orangette, Wizenberg writes about cooking, creating recipes, food fantasies, and how she met the love of her life through what started out as a quiet place to gather her thoughts about food. Sprinkled liberally with recipes, including Little Corncakes with Tomato, Avocado and Bacon; Caramelized Cauliflower with Salsa Verde; Fennel Salad with Asian Pear and Parmesan; Pistachio Cake with Honeyed Apricots; and Blueberry-Raspberry Pound Cake.

| Praise| "Wizenberg's directions are laced with a charming voice that strikes a neat balance with the reflective passages. Her strong personality stands out among her generation's culinary voices." 01/05/2009 "Wizenberg's recipes...[are] both a natural extension of her autobiography and an expression of her aesthetic, grounding this luminous memoir in the everyday and relatable....[She ends] the book with the recipe for the simple chocolate wedding cake she baked for herself. Few memoirs or chocolate cakes are more satisfying." - Jennifer Reese 06/10/2009 |
