I bought three ZyXel pieces for my system: PLA401KIT, PLA470V2 (4-port ethernet switch) and the DMA-1100P (Media Server). Everything works great and immediately recognizes my powerline system when plugged in. Setting up the PLA401Kit only took a few minutes; maybe 5. I am easily streaming Netflix in HI-DEF down to my Media room. The 2nd PLA401KIT synchs quickly as I move it around the house where ever needed and I automatically jump online. My only complaint was the extremely short ethernet cables included in each box (about 3 ft./each); I had to replace all of them. Simply put, I love this system. Was this review helpful?

Due to the location, my wife’s office kept getting disconnected. The3 Microwave or the portable phone would drop her wireless connection.
I purchased the device on Friday and it showed up on Tuesday. Thanks Buy.com!
I was a little skeptical about the installation and signal. I was dead WRONG. Plug one end of the Ethernet cable (supplied) into the bottom of the device – just like a phone cable; plug the other end of the cable into your Router then plug in the device. Do about the same at the other end but plug into the PC. Boot PC and bam, there it was and faster than her wireless has ever been.
The one thing the instructions do not mention but saw this advice on the Internet – BOTH END MUST BE PLUGGED INTO AN OUTLET, DO NOT USE A POWER STRIP.
My only negative comment could be the Ethernet cables that were supplied were short – both labeled as 4 feet. This may be fine for some but not all. I was shocked that they supplied the cables.
When they say kit THEY MEAN IT.
14 years in IT and this was the easiest home Network I’ve ever installed. Was this review helpful?

We purchased the ZYXEL plugs so that we could relocate our Video Phone from our Office to our Family Room. At first we were concerned about the quality of the video lead tranfer, but having the ZYXEL for only a few minutes, we were sold on the quality and speed of the video lead tranfer.
We also use the connection for our Laptop, which with out the ZYXEL plugs, I would not be able to "work" in the Familyroom.
It was plug and play, taking only about 10 minutes from opening the box to connecting the Ethernet Cables.
I would strongly suggest this product to anyone who interested in a faster, stronger "wireless" connection.

Wireless doesn't work too well in my apartment. Lots of wireless interference and network drops. thinking in powerline as an alternative solution never failed me. This Kit was literally Plug and Play, and easy to install. up and running in 2 mintues; and for 3 months now flawlessly, it never froze.
With it's 200 mbps it's also perfect when streaming movies, or listening to music. I use it with my Xbox live as well, no complains.
the only drawback, for me, it's Bright white color; but who cares!!! Was this review helpful?

Good for network extension in case you don't have the budget to wire your home. I used a pair of these powerline adapters to extend my wireless service. I think they are very easy to install and works well in my home. I connect one adapter to the cable modem and one adapter to my wireless router. The router is in the hallway so I can cover all the bedrooms and patio. The easiest part is to connect the powerline. C and configuring the wireless router to talk to oher computer actually takes more effort. Was this review helpful?
