When Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) fails to win his fourth straight Male Model of the Year Award to the fresh faced newcomer, Hansel (Owen Wilson), he must face the crushing reality that he is no longer the world's number one male supermodel. When fashion czar Mugatu (Will Ferrell) offers Derek a comeback opportunity, he is hesitant, but exhilarated to work for the powerful designer. What Derek doesn't know is that Mugatu plans to brainwash him with the help of his evil associate Katinka (Mila Jovovich) to assassinate a major political figure in order to continue to use cheap child labor for his fashion production. It's only a matter of time before Time Magazine journalist Matilda (Christine Taylor) catches on to Mugatu's evil plot and teams up with Derek and Hansel to bring the fashion mogul down.

An empty-headed yet kindhearted male model, the self-absorbed Derek becomes an unwitting pawn in a international assassination plot masterminded by oddball fashion dictator Jacobim Mugatu (Will Ferrell). Meanwhile, the clueless cover guy must also contend with a new rival, a blonde hipster named Hansel (Owen Wilson). Only adding to his troubles is Matilda Jeffries (Christine Taylor), an inquisitive and sensitive journalist.Stiller's charming and silly comedy liberally skewers the fashion industry while showcasing the actor-director-screenwriter's quirky humor.
