 Editor's Note
Unlike most television crime dramas, which neatly introduce and then solve a case all in the space of one hour, HBO's THE WIRE follows one single drug and homicide investigation throughout the length of an entire season. Centered around the drug culture of inner-city Baltimore, the series' storyline unfolds from the points of view of both the criminals lording the streets and the police officers determined to bring them down. Created by writer David Simon (THE CORNER, HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET), THE WIRE's multifaceted approach offers a nuanced overview of every aspect of the drug trade and the complex morality of its participants. The second season is included here in its entirety.

5 of 5 Outstanding Drama Monday, August 18, 2008 Philander from Saint Charles, Missouri
The Wire season 2 is everything that I expected it to be and more. The Wire is the best crime show that I have ever seen and I can't wait to purchase season 3...............! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Becoming a Junkie Friday, July 18, 2008 Richard from Dallas, TX
I had a gift card to Best Buy and had no idea what to purchase. I had heard the hype about The Wire, as the series finale had occurred and it was being lauded in many places. My wife and I played the first disc, the first episode, took our first hit. By the end of season 1, we wanted more. We could not ever watch only one episode, and then, too soon, there were no more. Thankfully, season 2 was already on its way. We cringe at the thought that one day, there will be no more deliveries, no more drops from the stash. Season 2 has been every bit as good as season 1, and unlike so many other shows, each season has a different focus, a different backdrop within the city of Baltimore, a new theme. Some of the players are left behind, new ones are added, and the story woven is rich. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Season 2 only gets better Monday, May 26, 2008 Al from Miami, FL
If you enjoyed Season 1 of the best police drama ever on TV, then you'll be thoroughly satisfied with Season 2. This Season remains focused on the Baltimore drug trade, but this time with an eye on how drugs (and other things) get into Baltimore by way of the docks. The acting is as superb as season 1, and the plot is as challenging as season 1 as well. The writers continue to steer away from the stock caricatures and simple cases of shows like 'Law & Order' and instead aim for realism - so it is not for the faint of heart, but those who stick with it will be rewarded. The Wire is the most intelligent show you will ever watch, and if you live in urban America then it will likely speak directly to you. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Best crime show ever Monday, March 19, 2007 Brian Donley from Milwaukee, WI
For the uninitiated, The Wire brings an ultra-realism to the crime genre, using the entire season to develop the characters on both sides of the law. Unlike other crime procedurals, things don't wrap themselves up at the end of every episode with a solution that falls into place like a house of cards. Instead, The Wire takes you through the lives of the characters who commit the crimes to give you a rich understanding of their motivations and how they find themselves in these situations. Characters on the side of the law are flawed and motivations are not always in the right place. The Wire is a brilliant show that deserves your attention, so check it out. Was this review helpful?
