I have only had the hard drive for a couple weeks, but it was so easy to set up right out of the box and continues to prove reliable. It's great quality for the price as it has a 5 year warranty. As I've been told time after time, all hard drives will fail, it's just a matter of when. So when comparing different hard drives to buy pay close attention to the warranty. Overall great product. I looked at CNET reviews and also other reviews before purchasing this device and I am very satisfied with the purchase!

If you travel with your data, this is great. Very light and works reliably. Restored one of my PC's with images backed up onto this thing. It's worth the money for this reason alone. I don't use the software comes with it. It would be perfect if it came with a "real" carrying case.

As usual, the WD hard drive is wonderful. Sleek, easy to plug-and-play, and oodles of storage. No need for a separate power cord, which is a real plus. The sync software provided, however, blows. Once run, it shows all your files, but they are phantoms. Nothing there, folks. So I deleted the software, downloaded free Allway Sync 'n' Go, and problem solved. Why waste time trying to figure out WD's crappy program when there are so many out there that work beautifully?

Astoundingly quick shipping. Works exactly as advertised. My second Passport drive; very happy with the first one. I haven't evaluated the backup software, only the drive itself. Small, easily transported, plugs into any PC, powered by the USB port. High-value product.

I'm completely satisfied with this external hard drive!! The only small complaint is regarding the way that buy.com packaged the item. Very haphazard. It wasn't protected at all and looked as though it had been opened. I haven't experienced this issue in the past, so I hope buy.com will take greater care in the future.

I was looking for a drive to carry my Mac, Windows and Network data around, this drive fits the bill. Small, light and as fast as USB 2 can be. My only complaint is the "sack" they provide offers very little protection and has no "cinch" to keep it closed. I ended up buying a Case Logic case which adds to size but at least now it will withstand a fall.

I bought this drive to be able to back up digital cards that go in our Panasonic P2 HD camera. Being able to do short term backups without an external power supply is necessary and this tiny, yet large 360 GB drive is just the ticket. It worked immediately with no problems. Plan to order a second one!

This compact external drive makes backing up my data so easy. It will automatically sync with only the directories that I select, so whenever I change something in those directories it will copy the changes to the drive.

Great drive! It is quiet, runs cool, nothing to do to install. I had bought a Fantom USB drive at the same time. This WD drive runs much cooler, is much smaller, much quieter, and needs no external power supply. Well worth the extra price.

This hard drive is TINY and it works as you would expect. I plan on using on several overseas trips soon, and there is nothing better on the market for portability. The finish is nice, the LED capacity gauge is what it is. Usable memory size is around 300 GB. The USB cord is around 2' long and could be longer, but it works and will be nice when traveling. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who wants a very small hard drive with tons of storage for future use.

I had a WD Passport Essential 250GB before replacing it with the 320GB Elite. The Essential line has a 2MB cache, while the Elite line has 8MB cache. From what I've seen, the hard drive might as well be a different model. My point is: The difference in performance is evident. The Essential is a fine drive, but the Elite is wicked fast! I can't claim any formal benchmarks (nor did I find any on the "internets"), but the copies I made imply the Elite was moving (both copy and read) data at about 2GB/min. I never saw more than 1GB/min with the Essential. So, if you're just looking for a convenient storage for data you seldom use, the Essential is fine. If you're going to be accessing that data (virtual machines or video) or copying it frequently (backups), the Elite is the way to go.

This external hard drive is great ! It is easy to set up and easy to use. I really like the portability aspect--I can fit it into my purse or computer bag with ease and don't have to worry about lugging around power cords. I actually have my iTunes on it to save space on my regular drive, and the movies don't skip a beat. Well worth the money !
