I bought this backpack from buy.com after checking it out at the local Officemax, which was selling it for $30 more than buy.com. I wasn't even looking to buy a laptop backpack until this one caught my eye.
This thing is built like a tank. The zippers are thick and strong. There are more than enough protective pockets to separate your laptop, accessories, books, pens, mp3 player, and even a lunch. The cooler pocket is a unique and very useful touch. The pack will stand up on its own because of the bottom. The padding and the straps are great for anyone that rides or walks a lot in the heat. Not only is it really comfortable with the very well designed padding and shock absorbing straps, it also allows air to circulate on your back so you don't get all sweaty. There is also a removable pouch that is kind of like a bonus bag.
For a college student like myself always on the go, there is simply no better choice for packing around a laptop and all your gear. Not many bags are made for a 17"in laptop and non are built as good as this one. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 fantastic knapsack Monday, May 26, 2008 LDB from Falmouth, MA
Took it to Europe; stable, comfortable and with plenty of space. The multiple pockets accommodated all my various electronics, information and documents for traveling and clothing. It stands up on its own. I can use it when I work overnight and carry clothes, laptop with ventilating base (a 12" ibook), portable printer, assorted books and work materials -- with room to spare. GENERAL: Im a road warrior geek with a heavy Lenovo T61p and need to carry my power cord, mouse, diabetes blood sugar testing kit, medication, Ethernet cables, switch, notepad, pens, over-the-ear noise cancelling headset, cell phone charger, sunglasses, mp3 player, various cables, paperback and a few industry magazines. Is it a tight fit? Yes, it is a bit, but then again, Ive got a lot of stuff in there and have room to spare if needed.
PROS: Size, durability and comfort padding. What I really like though is the black horizontal strap at the top of the shoulder straps (not the carry handle, which is pretty solid too). That little strap hitches nicely onto my roller-wheel carryon suite case making brisk movement with a heavy a load a breeze.
CONS: Its a tight squeeze to get water bottles into the 2 external side pockets.

5 of 5 Great Computer Backpack - Great Deal Friday, May 02, 2008 real1056 from Columbia, SC
I did a good bit of research of backpacks that could hold 17" laptops and based on reviews on this site and the others I purchased the Swiss Gear Pegasus. I was a little concerned that some were saying their 17" laptop was a tight fit but my Gateway 17" MX8738 fit perfectly, i.e. was not pushing the top of the zippered pocket as others had concerns about. It also has good room for additional books or accessories and an overall good balance of size versus capacity so it does not feel like it is too big or bulky for everyday use. It seems to be a quality product so I would bet this can take some wear and tear. I also like the steel cabled re-enforced carrying handle on the top of the bag. The water bottle pocket on the side holds the 500mL water bottles fine but anything bigger would probably not fit. Buy.com had the best price I could find on the internet when you factor in the free shipping. I chose the 3-5 day shipping which was something like an additional $4.50 but I ordered the backpack late Tuesday evening and received it on Friday - so quick turnaround. Overall, I would highly recommend this product based on my initial inspection of it - it also looks cool too which is good because I am not much of a backpack type of person. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Almost Perfect Wednesday, April 30, 2008 DS from ATX
Seemingly very well made.
Only qualm: Not enough padding near top of bag in the zipper area leaves laptop somewhat susceptible to damage if bumped directly on that area. It is not like the laptop is completely enclosed in padding, which I feel it should be. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 The Answer to my 17" problem! Friday, April 25, 2008 Trevionni from Los Angeles, CA
I've owned many laptops, but always 12.1-15.4" in size. When I recently purchased my 17" HP DV9000, I "thought" it wouldn't be much bigger, and would fit into my 15.4 inch bag...right! I own 3 Wenger backpacks/cases, and love the quality of their products. Read a review on buy.com which mentioned the same HP I'd just purchased, so I ordered the bag. Another GREAT bag from Wenger! What can I say that others haven't? Med student, so my books are hefty and 3 or more inches thick. This back comforts the load! Highly recommend any Wenger bag, this being the best choice for a 17" notebook! P.s. Got it next day with 2 day shipping! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great backpack Thursday, April 17, 2008 Jes Martinez from Long Beach, CA
It is very comfortable that I find myself carrying it on even if I can just set it down or hold it as a suitcase. The padding is very comfortable. It fits my 17" widescreen laptop |
