5 of 5 Excellent range, cheap price Monday, July 18, 2005 Sam Heinz from Madison, WI
For 2 high quality products from one of the best in home networking! I live in a 3 story house with 10 feet ceilings, and my laptop will go anywhere on our property while the router is on the top floor. Speed and reception couldn't be better. I am a very satisfied with the netgear for the product. Oh, and Buy.com is one of the best stores on the internet for their excellent service and pricing! Was this review helpful?

Be careful, if this is this is revision 1 of the WGR614, then Netgear has still not released a non-beta version of a firmware that supports WPA-PSK. And the last time they released the beta was way back in April.
Also, I have always had problems with Netmeeting and also using Video Conferencing in MSN Messenger (that makes use of UPNP) in that it does not work on subsequent tries, but if I reset the router between each try it works, so it appears something doesn't get completely cleaned up between session. I networked my desktop running Windows XP with an HP laptop running Windows 2000 Professsional. Setup was easy and the performance has been good. So far, so good. Was this review helpful?

To me, it seems like they are giving these away. This took a few minutes to install and allows us to share a cable modem internet connection. The wireless card works easily upstairs, on the porch and moving throughout the house. The router is sitting on the floor in a room on the first floor. There has never been a problem since it was installed. Was this review helpful?

I purchased this bundle three weeks ago, plugged it into my Comcast Cable modem, plugged the card into my XP notebook, loaded the software as per the instructions and it was up and running, that simple! Signal strength is decent. The speed is much faster that my old Linksys 802.11B combo (the router died after 2 years, this was its replacement). No dropouts yet and I use it 8 hours a day in my home office. Havent played around with the advanced settings yet but for a simple to use plug and play kit, I recommend it. The Netgear name is one reason for my purchase too. Was this review helpful?

Simple to set up, no pain, no fuss. Just plug everything in and it works. Although I am only getting 18-32mbs on the second floor in my bedroom, 54mbs max, the router is on the first floor office, I am happy with it. Was this review helpful?

Seems like a great price for a wireless g router/card combo. Setup was about as easy as can be. I get great reception throughout a 3 story brick home. Much better range than my previous D-Link b wireless router and card. Was this review helpful?

The performance of the router and my WG511 netgear card have been great. However, the firmware need sot be upgraded to fix some minor problems and to be fully compatible with WPA-PSK.
However, I've had delays with another PC with a linksys wireless card. The card takes around 5-10 minutes trying to locate and connect to the router even if I manually try to connect to the network. Netgear routrr works great only with other netgear products. Performance has been great but interopability is supposed to be an important issue for wireless products. stick with linksys.
