3 of 5 Needs special cable on some computers Tuesday, March 31, 2009

I recently purchased and found that I need a special Y cable to power the unit. My computer is 3 years old and the USB port does not supply enough power to the unit. I contacted the company and they are sending cable at no charge but I needed to use it on a trip and the cable will not be here for 7 days. Just be aware that if you have an order unit running Windows XP, you might need a Y cable to power it.
This should be stated somewhere on the specifications! Was this review helpful?

I got this drive for backup and for moving files between machines. So far so good. It's very easy to use, just plug it in and go. My computer recognized it instantly and I was moving files within a minute of plugging the drive in. I'm very happy with my purchase so far. Was this review helpful?

I needed a external drive that would be able to store all my information seperate from my main drive, just in case. This worked perfect, just plugged it in and it was there.
It comes with Nero backup software, but I used Windows backup instead. Nero provides too many advertiements. Was this review helpful?

Having replaced three hard drives on my current computer I didn't want to go thru' the hassle of backing up all my photo's and information onto separate discs. I purchased this Portable Hard Drive to keep all my files in one place. I only just received this product and plan on doing the tranfer next week. I bought this to move photos from a full drive on my Mac Mini and to share with a new Macbook. This drive was about 1/2 the price as the the same one they sell in the Mac stores! Works great so far. Only advice is maybe format the drive as mac rather than Fat32 so you can share it using your Macbook rather than have to plug it into the Macbook directly. Was this review helpful?
