Introducing MP5 technology...the latest in Portable Entertainment. The popularity of web-based videos has increased due to lower costs of hosting videos online as well as popular sites such as YouTube and MySpace. Video files, which used to take up large amounts of space, have had advancements in compression technology. Formats such as Real Media and Flash make online streaming more accessible. However the drawback has been the inability to download and playback these video files across various platforms. But with MP5 technology, that is no longer the case. Flash videos from sites such as YouTube and MySpace can now be taken with you. Real Media files can be played back without the need for conversion. And of course our V-Core still supports AVI format video. The 2.8" 16:9 widescreen allows for the cinematic experience on the go.

MP3, WMA and Real Audio music formats are supported. And of course, like many of our other players, it is also loaded with features such as FM Radio, Voice Recorder, Picture Viewer and Text Reader. The V-Core has a built-in speaker and a beautiful stainless steel exterior. And of course its slim and lightweight design make it extremely portable.

4 of 5 Great player with some caveats Saturday, June 06, 2009
Dirty shisno from ND
When I bought this for a trip to Jamaica I thought it might be something just to keep me entertained at the airport and nothing more. It turned out to be a pretty good player. The sound is very good (with the proper headphones of course) and the videos is extremely good for the price which was very surprising. It can handle most divx/xvid movies that I have without any ripping, slowdown, unsyncing. As stated before there will sometimes be problems with higher bitrate videos (unsyncing, tearing) and also with VBR audio unsyncing. I was never able to get any MP4 video to play back on it in any container format (QT/MOV, ASF, MP4, 3GP) so I'm not sure exactly what type of MP4 codec/container is required. FLV worked pretty well except for some videos unsyncing. The main annoyance with playback is that the screen always fills the 15:9 ratio no matter if the video is 4:3, 16:9, etc. I hope they will have a firmware to give the option to stretch or not in the future (they didn't seem to have any plans for this when I emailed them about it). The music player works great. Other bugs, problems I found outside the video player: Can't record in high quality from the radio Ebook/text reader doesn't advance the text properly so you end up before or after the end of the previous page of text Can't change the volume of the music while not in the music player -- like in the ebook reader No clock The video player doesn't bookmark the spot in the movie that you are on when you stop a video Overall it is a great player and I wouldn't hesitate to get another one if it goes on sale for $50 again.

4 of 5 great little player Monday, May 18, 2009
edie from lakeland, florida
it was a great product with great picture quality and sound. the instructions were very clear and the product works very well. It also has a long battery life. the cons of the player is that in the music menu it will not go past the sixth song ,but it will if you are just playing the songs

3 of 5 V-Core 4GB MP5 Player w/ FM Radio is just OK Monday, May 04, 2009
Drew from Highland CA
I haven't used it much but from what I did see I wasnt too excited. First, the viewing angle was extremely limited on the video in all directions. The controls were annoying but I will probably get used to them. The cheap headphones actually stayed in my ears. The velvet carrying bag is useless. I'll buy a new belt clip of some type and grow to like this thing. Oh, it doesn't play mpegs...... One article said it did. I haven't used youtube yet but I will soon.

A Customer from Phoenix, Arizona
This is an okay player if thats what you want, i mainly bought it o be an MP3 player and FM radio. it works fine in those respects. it's kinda lacking in video playback (hight bitrate videos can unsync the audio) all and all it's an ok buy for radio and music but not the video playback.

4 of 5 Convenient way to watch rmvb files Monday, May 04, 2009
L Chau from Marlboo NJ
Audio off-sync slightly while watching rmvb files directly... Need a bit of learning to use the player. It looks great though and really reasonably priced.

5 of 5 Impress and Shock Wednesday, April 22, 2009
A Customer from raleigh
I was a little scare about buying this product but it turn out to be pretty good, the menu icons and display is really good. For the price is pretty good. The headphones are not of a high quality like skull candy but overall they sound great. I highly recommended this product

4 of 5 Nice but speed is an issue Saturday, April 18, 2009
Adam from Phoenix AZ
it's a nice player for what it does but speed is an issue. playing movies that are rather large (~700MB) is skips on the video playback so the sound is ahead of the video. for smaller movies it works great. i really like the quality of the audio playback for mp3s and the picture viewer is rather nice. I haven't tried the e book functionality yet but the manual says it only supports text files, so that's a draw back as well.

4 of 5 Overall, A Solid Little Media Player Friday, April 17, 2009
A Customer from Saratoga, CA
Nice, compact design. I've tried a couple of compressed movies on it, along with pictures and some music. All work fine. The screen is quite small, but color is good and images are crisp. I find that I need to hold it pointed slightly left to get a good image. Controls do take a bit of getting used to- not especially intuitive with six identical buttons along the top. Sound quality with headphones is more than acceptable with several options to tailor it to your liking. Tiny internal speaker is a bit better than an old transistor radio (for those that remember them), but does not carry far. Very fine volume stepping which I like, although it would have been nice to have dedicated volume buttons. All in all, a great value for $50, and I received the unit the next day using standard, free shipping (SF Bay Area delivery, shipped from Fresno, CA).

2 of 5 Firmware flaws Wednesday, April 15, 2009
Frank from Mont Vernon NH
Pros - Good value for the $, fine AVI player, good battery life. Cons - Although it is listed as a FLV player, 3 of the 4 FLV files loaded returned a "format error" when played. Converting these to AVI (less compression) allowed them to play successfully. JPEG images also encoutered the same error, with ~ 50% success rate (all are within the max size specified). Have not been able to resolve that problem. Finally, MP3 and WMA files do not being up album art - quite a let down given the nice colorful LCD display. Product web site provides mininal information, no firmware upgrades. The downloadable "video conversion" software does not process FLV files....no worth downloading.

5 of 5 Surprisingly nice PMP! Sunday, April 12, 2009
plotdoc from Tyler TX
Wasn't expecting a great deal from this Apple wannabe. Instead, it turns out to be a very handy video and audio player, complete with small transponder (speaker) for non-headphone folks, which I am one of. The SD slot takes HD cards, which is a very big plus! There is no trouble accessing files, and I haven't had it glitch yet. Battery life seems fine. The only arcane issue was the use of the push buttons, which took an additional minute to master. Great PMP for the price, and I actually carry it!
