I bought my Uniden ELBT595 cordless phone and 3 additional handsets almost a month ago. I love the feature that allows me to link my bluetooth wireless headset to the system. I haven't used the Cell Link feature that often, but it did come in handy the couple of times I needed it. The call went through better than I had anticipated. Although Uniden still needs to work on the flip style phones (need less bulky, better feeling phones), I do salute them for this marvelous system! I gave this system an overall rating of 4 just because they need to continue to work on the feel and make the handsets less bulky and less heavy. Was this review helpful?

After reading the other review here, I had to add my own comments even though I do NOT own this phone. I own a different Uniden 5.8GHz cordless (candy-bar style) phone, but I probably won't buy this one. A friend bought one and said that the flip handsets feel cheap. Other reviews imply they are easily broken. However, I would buy a candy-bar style version of this phone specifically for the Bluetooth (CellLink) feature. Why? Because I have a Palm Treo 650 cell phone with Bluetooth. When I come home, I put my Treo on the kitchen counter in a charging cradle, right next to my cordless phone base station. Then I go to the other end of the house (or to another floor) and my cell phone rings. How cool would it be to be able to answer it on any nearby cordless handset? That's exactly what this phone (and Uniden's CellLink feature) was developed for. I believe it also supports a Bluetooth headset, but the real prize is that it lets you place (or receive) cellular calls on any house-wide cordless handset you happen to be near. No more running through the house trying to answer your cell before it goes to voicemail... Uniden -- please give us a candy-bar (non-flip) version of this phone!! BTW, I know this system works with other (optional) candy-bar handsets, but it appears only the flips support CellLink. Hopefully that will change soon. Was this review helpful?

So, yes the Bluetooth is kind of a cool feature, but think why when and where, would you use it? Just to say that you can hook up to your cell phone and your HS8xx!? Wahoo. You might as well pick up your cell and make or receive the call. Oh and try later to hook up your earpiece back to your cell… Like it? Too much of a hassle.
The Bluetooth is good for a warehouse or small business with workers who work in the close vicinity (the allowable range) and instead of carrying two phones (their cell and the ELBT) they can carry one. In the home, I didn't see much sense for these features. The range also is not so great. When you take the extension to another room, where there is no obstruction or whatsoever, you loose the signal (same goes for the Bluetooth. It just hangs out). Caller ID doesn't much with your phonebook, and does not provide timestamp for the call. Also no indication of a missed call. Uniden usually have good quality phones for the price, but this one is too expensive and not worthy. Also it doesn't have that any features as one might think. They were trying to marry a cellphone and a home phone, but this marriage is not about to hold on.
I found the flip phone cumbersome to handle when you need to make or receive a call, you have to flip it open and then close it where as with other phone you just hit the button and there you go.
People, we just need a phone, not a toy. Check out the latest 5.8 Panasonic, it is simple, has nice Caller ID support (matches up with your phone book, gives time stamp), supports messages with your local provider and supports 3 extensions. What more do you need?
I returned my ELBT and bought the Panasonic. Think I am happier
