First the cons. It is a little bigger and heavier than some on the market, and the belt clip seems unnecessarily bulky. The good news more than makes up for it. Buy.com's ad understates the features of this radio, claiming only an "ac charger." In fact it has a charging stand, which can be mounted on either a vertical or a horizontal surface, and includes both ac and dc adaptors. Also, it charges both the radio and spare battery (included) at the same time or separately, in 3 - 4 hours, so you need never suffer a dead battery. The screen is unusually large and easy to read. Practical Sailor rated it the best choice for a handheld under $175 in Oct. of 2006. I don't think you can go wrong at this price, especially for the only radio on a small boat with 12 volt power.
