| | | Features: DVD, Aspect Ratio 1.33:1 On December 8,1941 the Disney Studios were taken over by the military as part of the war effort. Taking advantage of the talent that hadn't been shipped off to war, the Disney factory focused over the next four years on work for the armed forces, including training, propaganda, and educational films as well as hundreds of insignia designs. Featuring 32 short subjects and exclusive declassified material, this stunning must-own collection includes rare training, propaganda and educational films created during the period beginning December 8, 1941, when the Disney Studios were dedicated to the military cause. This extraordinary volume also includes the full-length feature "Victory Through Air Power." Released theatrically in 1943, this powerful propaganda film has never been reissued until now. Leonard Maltin explains how Walt Disney came to adapt this best-selling non-fiction book for adults into a largely animated feature, how Walt felt for the rest of his life that it was his most important contribution to the war effort, and how it led to the U.S. Space Program. Based on the book by Major Alexandar P. de Seversky, this feature-length cartoon is both documentary and propaganda film. Inspired by Walt's desire to help the war effort, "Victory Through Air Power" deals with the ability of long-range air power to help turn the tide against the Axis powers in World War II. Filmmakers used animation to produce strikingly vivid graphics of the Allied forces pounding the Axis strongholds.
