Leonard Maltin explains how Walt Disney came to adapt this best-selling non-fiction book for adults into a largely animated feature, how Walt felt for the rest of his life that it was his most important contribution to the war effort, and how it led to the U.S. Space Program. Based on the book by Major Alexandar P. de Seversky, this feature-length cartoon is both documentary and propaganda film. Inspired by Walt's desire to help the war effort, "Victory Through Air Power" deals with the ability of long-range air power to help turn the tide against the Axis powers in World War II. Filmmakers used animation to produce strikingly vivid graphics of the Allied forces pounding the Axis strongholds.
