Author Bio
Tad Williams
Though he grew up near Stanford University, Tad Williams was never very interested in attending college. After high school, he moved out of his parent's home and began a series of odd jobs to support himself. He worked at everything from making tacos to loan collection and managing an art store to designing military manuals. His 10-year stint hosting a syndicated radio show led to work in theater and television, which in turn got him into writing. In 1985, his first novel, TAILCHASER'S SONG, was published. This was followed by the Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn series, which many of his fans consider to be his best work. 1996 saw the beginning of a new series. The Otherland series moved away from fantasy, and was favorably reviewed outside the genre community, a clear indication that Williams's work was finding mainstream acceptance. In 1998, he entered the world of comic books with MIRROR WORLD, another field he seems destined to conquer. On numerous occasions, he has expressed his interest in fan feedback, and, to this end, he regularly joins into on-line conversations, travels on extensive promotional tours, and even solicits suggestions for improving the books from his devoted fan base.
