5 of 5 Satisfied with purchase. Sunday, April 12, 2009 A Gamer from Sunnyvale, California
Works as advertised. Excellent reproduction of frequencies relevant for gaming (gunshots, explosions, footsteps are amazing clear and loud). Do not purchase these headphones for listening to music - you'll be quite disappointed. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Pricey, but good. Wednesday, August 13, 2008 A Gamer from Chicago
For this price, it should have been the USB version with soundcard. People might first look at these at call them cheaply made, but I have been a owner of many pairs of cans, and although plastic, they are well made. They are very comfortable, easily adjustable, and the sound is terrific. Plenty loud, crisp highs, decent lows. Could be a bit better with low frequency response, but overall very good. They break down for storage or travel, come with a cord extension for a total of 10 feet, more than enough. Great for gaming, and really pretty darn good for music listening too. Best Ive had in that regard. Recommended, but look for the USB version to take advantage of 7.1 unless you have a soundcard that supports that already. The USB version has the 3.5 plug, into the soundcard, and the the USB into the PC. Best of both worlds. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great headset! Sunday, August 26, 2007 Jon Schneeman from Mount Airy, MD
I bought this headset for gaming not too long ago, and let me tell you, they're worth every penny! They're comfortable, the bass is there, which I love. It delivers crisp sound in both music and games. It's only downfall, is that it does not have "studio quality" sound, which is hard to find for less than $300. This is a great value, and if you're a gamer, especially if you LAN, the incorrect choice would be to pass up on these. Also... It outclasses it's ICEMAT counterpart in just about everything except being the headset clown uses to play counter-strike. ICEMATs tend to break easily thus adding unecessary cost to your investment. You may see many professional gamers using ICEMATs, but that's due to one thing they have that most of us do not, sponsorships. In my honest opinion, they look silly. I won't be buying another pair of them again. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good Headphones with a small problem Monday, January 29, 2007 Anurag from Arlington, TX
The headphones are amazing. Most comfortable headphones I've ever seen. Nicely fit around the ears and you can wear them for hours without any problems. The sound is superb for the price I got em' for, 24$.
However I am starting to see some problems with it now. Its only been a month since I ordered these and the wire for the left speaker has gone lose. The sound fluctuates, and at times is completely missing from the left speaker. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Great headphones - Great price Saturday, November 04, 2006 Luke from Lost Creek, WV
Good quality sound. Comfortable around the ears. Only crticism is that the headphone strap needs more adjustment space to accomodate a wider range of head sizes. Microphone provides decent quality as well. Great for the price. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very comfortable to wear Wednesday, November 01, 2006 larrymb from Baltimore, MD
These earphones are on the expensive side. I bought them primarily because they were running a deep rebate. However, I do think they are well made and exceptionalbly comfortable to wear. Other positive features are a microphone that retracts, and an optional long extension cord. I like that flexibility. With my setup, the short main cord is ideal and avoids tangled wires. In short, a very good headphones but a bit pricey at full retail. Was this review helpful?

The headline says it all. I don't know if my ears are too big, or myself too sensitive, but so far I've never found a truly comfortable headset. I've found quite a few that are comfortable for the first couple/few hours, but even the best of them have always started getting uncomfortable after about 3 hours and I have to occasionally take breaks.

Then along came the Steelsound 5H v2. I haven't tried the v1 yet, nor do I plan to, but instantly I felt I could wear these all day long! I haven't had a chance to actually try wearing them all day, but I have played video games with a team that will go on for 3-5 hours, and my ears haven't even hinted that they'll start hurting with these!

In the past it's always been that headphones eventually make my ears hurt, that's why I'm focusing more on the comfort level, but don't let my lack of covering sound quality deceive you! The sound is very crisp and clear, after a little adjusting I was able to have a nice balance between the music I play while playing games, the game sounds, and my teammates' voices. I'm able to hear all three simultaneously without any quality loss. I haven't tested the bass to the extreme yet, but the bass I've heard in songs sound very clear, as well as the trebble (especially when listening to other peoples' voices).

One of my favorite features of this is the microphone. I really dislike the look of a microphone sticking up from someone's head like an antenna. It's not appealing to me, I outright find it humerous. This one not only has a good microphone (from what my teammates have said, I haven't heard it myself), but a microphone that you can stash away while not using VoIP or needing the microphone for anything. I thought it was ingenious that they made the mic store away *inside* the headset!

I highly recommend this. Was this review helpful?

This product is awesome. For this price after MIRs I bet you that you cannot get anything better than this. Really great design. It picks up even the minute sound and puts in to your ear. Though it is designed for gaming it is really a great headset for music lovers. Was this review helpful?

I have had these headphones for less than a week now and I love them. I have used them for both gaming and listening to music as well as talking using the microphone. The music is very clear and the gaming experience is good. I recommend getting these especially for $10 with the google checkout deal. I like the microphone hiding feature if I want to take these out and listen to my ipod. Recommended. Was this review helpful?
