StarTech USB 2.0 to VGA Display Adapter

First of all the customer service at startech is simply wonderful. The adapter works great with windows xp, but with Vista 64 bit it does not. My 2nd monitor works ok but my 3rd monitor is blank with the Vista. And HP customer service is very poor, no help at all for the hardware, have a HP Quadcore Computer.

As a reseller I am concerned with customer satisfaction and my client was pleased to get a third monitor hooked up to his laptop (laptop screen and two others). However, he was not pleased with the mouse pointer performance on the screen using the Startech adapter. It definetly had a lag. In fairness we didn't try any other brand so we don't know if this would have occured with any another kind. We only know that for this price, testing for its purpose should have been done and performance should have been improved. This was used with a Dell 20" Wide LCD monitor with optimum resolution. Perhaps a less optimum resolution would result in higher mouse response times but I didn't have time to test that.

The device was packaged as promised and was very easy to install. Performance matched the information provided by the vendor - it should not be used for video intensive applications. I work at home at least one day a week and it works fine for standard office applications. The manufacturer specifications are accurate and the device has been reliable. While a second video adapter would be preferable, my company laptop does not support it. This gave me the ability to use dual monitors and a KVM to switch between my home system and my company laptop. I am very satisfied.
