She uses it to good effect on her debut, THE SPIRIT ROOM, accompanied by a coterie of LA session veterans who provide her with the sort of assured musical expertise that only big bucks can provide. Each song is hook-laden and charmingly sung. Standouts are the infectiously poppy album-opener "Everywhere" and the oddly retro-sounding "Sweet Misery." The overall effect conjured by THE SPIRIT ROOM is of an assured pop debut--Branch certainly leaves you curious to hear her next effort. | Producer: John Shanks | Engineer: Lars Fox; Marc DeSisto |

5 of 5 ALL THE WAY! Wednesday, April 09, 2003 A Listener from Platts. Ny
If you are looking for a great cd to listen to that everytime sounds great, this would be it. I usually don't like Female singers unless they're super HOT! But Michelle has a attitude and a great voice that makes her great to listen to! I first heard her when a girl I like sang All you wanted at a lip sync concert. The song melted me and I had to learn more about her, then I heard more of her songs and realized how cool she is! It make me want to become successful and make people feel good, Anyway, it's a great cd worth every penny! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 A delightfully sweet breath of fresh air! Friday, March 21, 2003 Venus Radisson from The Gold State
Even though I hate to admit to it, I must confess that when I bought this CD it was for two reasons: 1) I had heard the song EVERYWHERE and loved it and 2) Michelle Branch looks like me. And besides hearing EVERYWHERE, I had never heard any of Branch's songs before. So, as you can guess, once I actually bought the overpriced piece of plastic, I was a bit hesitant. For you see, I am an extremely picky person when it comes to music and normally when I buy a CD for simply one song, I end up not liking any of the others. But, wonder of wonders, once I inserted the disc into my player and pressed play, I discovered that every penny of my money was well spent. Branch has a naturally excellent voice, which is a new concept to the music world, which is centered around scantily clad sex idols (i.e. Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera) whose careers depend soley on computers to make their voices bearable. And the fact that Branch writes her own music is highly approved among this author. All in all, I highly recommend this CD, as it is easy on the ears and, as I stated before, a delightfully sweet breath of fresh air. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 A Real Artist Monday, December 16, 2002 Fong from New York, NY
Finally, my prayers have been answered. A real artist has finally come out. She has her own lyrics, knows how to play the guitar, a beautiful voice and enough talent to blow you away. Enough of the pop princesses out there with no talent. Michelle Branch is amazing. The song "Goodbye to you" just melts my heart. She is a breath of fresh air. She will be around for a while. And im glad... Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Michelle Branch Tuesday, June 18, 2002 Sarah Stokes from Vincennes, Indiana
In a time when boy bands and pop princesses rule the airwaves michelle branch is a breath of fresh air. She not only plays guitar and sings but she also writes her own material. A rarity these days. This album is a one of a kind in a industry over flowing with britney spear wannabe's and n'sync covers. she delves into despair and then picks you up and makes you want to sing along. It not only catchy but also very good. If i could recommend any album it would definately be this one. don't just take my word for it listen to the sound clips. they give you a glimpse into an amazing album by a very promising artist. Michelle Branch is the hottest new artist and this is one of the best albums I've ever heard. Buy.com has it cheaper than CDNow. Was this review helpful?
