| The hard-rockin' Northern California band's much-anticipated follow-up, Someone In Control, co-produced by Don Gilmore (Linkin Park, Pearl Jam, Good Charlotte) and led by the track "Stand Up," expands on the strong sense of melody, soul-searching lyrics and archetypal hooks that separate Trapt from its Modern Rock peers. Fans are standing up for Trapt.

Though their first album was not distinctive enough to move them to the front of the pack, they showed signs of promise by the time of their second full-length from Warner Brothers, 2005's SOMEONE IN CONTROL. | | Frontman Chris Brown sings with great feeling here, and though his lyrics may fall at times into predictable emo themes, the muscle and velocity of the rest of the band give things plenty of bite. In fact, Trapt are at their best on tracks like the thunderous "Stand Up," which threads a sinuous melody through a crunching metal progression in a way that recalls early-'90s Metallica. A solid sophomore effort, SOMEONE IN CONTROL should please fans of nu-metal and heavy emo alike. | Producer: Don Gilmore; Peter Witting; Danny Horton; Becka Montoya; Rachel Shearer; Don Gilmore; Trapt | Engineer: Don Gilmore; Daniel Mendez; Don Gilmore |
