As a MAC user, I found this to be a great choice for making a website. There is a small learning curve but a few clicks on the internet and you will see some videos that show what you can do. After about 2 hours of fooling around, I was able to get a great website.
I found that uploading it to GoDaddy was a bit of a pain so I would export the site to a folder and then use Fetch to upload the site. Minor issue and easy to do. Go for it.
I intend to use Stacks and some other plugins that will make it even more powerful. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 CLOSE to excellence Sunday, January 18, 2009 Tom Schrunk from Minneapolis, MN
My newly done website, starting from scratch, was done over a weekend. No prior experience. It replaces a dowdy one I had done for $500 and another just above average for $1000.
I got tired of waiting and waiting for changes, then the $$ for the change charge. Positive reviews from professionals, and I've been asked to do others' websites.
DOWNSIDES: Tools are limited, such as the inability to specify point font size, 24 point, for example; one is obliged to hit "bigger" in the dropdown menu to go from 12 point to 13, again for 13 to 14, again for 14 to 15, you get the idea. Some keyboard commands don't work, and the help menu is brief. One cannot have photos and text beside each other horizontally, making pages more vertical (and less viewable) than necessary. Several other small quirks.
ADVANTAGES: Simple menu means there's few things to learn. A good basic choice of customizable page templates get you started. Adding graphic content is simply dragging from the desktop to the opened page. Linking is simple and quick.
OVERALL: An excellent value. I've gone from two essentially barebones websites to one with multiple photographs, links, and videos. It's now 52 pages (and 91 MB), and as an artist my work is now being presented the way I want. In the first week (just past) there have been more hits than the previous three months combined. This was a good choice to make. Was this review helpful?
