4 of 5 Great product! Saturday, May 24, 2008
A Customer from Cincinnati, OH

It was super easy out of the box to setup (as other people mentioned). Product works as advertised but...my internet service in Cincinnati promised 7MB download and 500K upload (NOT SO, TimwarnerCable stinks). The SlingBox transfer rate is 200K because of my cable service and therefore the picture is choppy, and yes I tried to mess with the settings to get a better picture. When I operate it from my home in Ann Arbor it works great! Moral of the story, you need a good internet connection. Overall, great product and TimewarnerCable stinks!

5 of 5 Satisfied customer Friday, May 16, 2008
tonykurkov@aol.com from Rocky River, OH
I tried my SOLO first with Lynksys G-wireless bridge recommended by Slingmedia. Got about 1200 Kbps on my G-LAN network. Not good enough for full screen viewing. With SlingLink power-line ethernet got about 5500 Kbps with full-screen and highest resolution setting. Very good picture even for basketball game. Super price and service from buycom.

A Customer from Jersey City, NY
Simply the best product I;ve spent less than $200 for in my life. Makes paying my exhorbitant cable bill well worth it. Between the computer and my PDA can watch my TV whenever I damn well please. Can't wait for Slingcatcher so I can have MY TV on ANY TV. GOD BLESS SLINGBOX!

5 of 5 SlingBox Solo delivers Saturday, April 19, 2008
A Customer from Anaheim CA
I wasn't sure if I would like having this product, but it turned out to be very handy. Over my wired network it delivers remote HD from my satellite box to my 30" monitor and looks quite good, even in full-screen mode! Haven't yet tried remote access from wi-fi, but even just here at home it's providing a good function.

5 of 5 Pretty cool way to watch TV Saturday, April 19, 2008
dug7714 from Mount Rainier, MD
All-in-all it was a fairly easy setup and I'm happy with the Slingbox. It's a great idea and allows me to watch all my TV channels and DVR when I'm on the road. I did, however, have to make some changes at home... First, I had the cheapest DSL package from Verizon, so I had to upgrade in order to get a better upload speed (you need at least 256kbps). I also decided to wire a new phone jack near my TV (spend the $ and just buy the SlingLink if you don't want to do this). Then I moved my DSL modem and wireless router to that location. Once I made those changes, I was ready to go. The Slingbox works well at home and on the road, but I have to say it's better at home. The picture quality is very good around the house on my wireless network; I can flip the computer open when I'm sitting on the porch and it looks great. But, when I am in a hotel or at the office (really... I just 'tested' it there), the picture quality isn't as good. I'm not sure if that's a limitation of my DSL upload speed at home (still only 768kbps) or general internet limitations. The picture quality is noticeably better at home. Setup was easy once I used the Sling interactive support. They took control of my computer and changed the settings in my router and DSL modem in a few minutes. Worked like a charm. Don't hesitate to use the interactive support on their website if you're having any problems. It's a very cool product. Worth the money!

Kari C. from Tucson, AZ
We got this so my husband could watch the Sabres hockey games when he deploys overseas. it was fairly easy to set up with the technical help online and took less than 1 hour for him to set up. We have used it several times already and it is great. Good quality picture and sound. Highly recommend to everyone and all our friends are getting them now too.

5 of 5 Great Product - NOT EASY TO SET UP! Saturday, March 01, 2008
Jrmovie from New York, N.Y.
This is a great product, I love it! A real must have for tech geeks like myself. One warning, it is not as easy to set up as they claim. I am pretty adept at new technologies and could not get to work, needed customer service. The technician was terrific and very patient. He had to take control of my computer from his office to finish set up. He also helped with my mobile. Once running it really is everything they claim. To recap, Buy it but plan to spend an hour with a tech.

1 of 5 An installation nightmare Wednesday, February 13, 2008
beluna11-facebook@yahoo.com from New York, NY
I've seen Slingbox in action and it is very impressive. However, while I'm very adept at hooking up electronics, this one is quite a challenge. After trying for days to figure out how to hook it up, I discovered that unless your television and router are in the same room, you have to buy another piece of equipment to get the signal. I did buy this SlingLink and found it so difficult to figure out that I decided to chuck the whole thing. I should also mention that there are required cables that are not included with the Slingbox. Add to this, Buy's unrealistic return policy of returning within 14 days, I was able to return the SlingLink but not the Slingbox - so I'm stuck with it. All in all, a very unsatisfactory experience.

5 of 5 Works Great Sunday, January 13, 2008
A Customer from Grand Rapids, MI
I have a netgear ethernet network (using the home electrical system). Set-up took 10 minutes and I didn't need support from Slingbox. I can access and control my television inside or outside my home. I am shocked how good the picture is even when the broadband is slow. Quality of the picture ultimately depends on speed of your connection. I have connected on PC's and Mac's and even connected on my Treo (which was amazingly good quality). When I travel, I like to be able to watch my local sports teams. I would highly recommend this to all.

It's easy to set up and it works as promised. As far as I'm concerned, it ranks as one of the top tech products of the last few years.

5 of 5 TV Anywhere Thursday, January 03, 2008
Chris from Fort Wayne, Indiana
I received my Slingbox SOLO from buy.com the day after Christmas. No, it wasn't a Present! I hooked it up as stated in the manual. I was unable to get it to work after 2 days trying. I finally called Slingbox support. The Tech had me give him control of my computer through Remote Assistant. Ended up I only had to unplug the Slingbox, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in. Everything was already set up correctly. Slingbox does not support Verizon Motorola QIP2500-3 Cable Box or the ActionTec MI424WR Router supplied by Verizon FIOS. The Slingbox does work, it's just that Slingbox doesn't support them yet. They are both still fairly new because Verizon FIOS is fairly new. The Slingbox TV worked fine on my home network but wouldn't connect on other networks. I had to go into my Router Utilities and play around with the settings to get it to work on other networks. I would say that the Slingbox instruction Manual, the Slingbox Wizard and the online support need some work. They made the setup sound really easy, but of course if you don't know much about networking you'll run into some trouble. Overall a great product, just setup instructions need help!

5 of 5 Slingbox Solo Tuesday, January 01, 2008
Dwight from Irvington, NJ
This product works fine. Setup was pretty easy, although it kept telling me that it couldn't be reached from the internet. I skipped that part, and it was actually working. I use it to control my Comcast DVR. My only "complaint" is that there is no way to add functionality to the remote the way that I can do with the real remote.

5 of 5 Slingbox Solo - awesome technology! Monday, December 31, 2007
Roman from Grand Prairie, TX
I've been very impressed with the Slingbox Solo so far. I set it up on two laptops (one XP, one Mac OSX) with no problems at all. The router auto-config routine worked the first time as well. In addition, I am able to watch and control my Tivo from my Windows Mobile-based Motorola Q smartphone. Amazing! Highly recommended. It's a lot of technology for the price.

5 of 5 So far so good! Friday, December 28, 2007
A Customer from Walnut Creek, CA
I received the Slingbox Solo and it took about 15 minutes to get it setup and working. Connecting it to my wireless network was a breeze as I already had the Directv Tivo unit connected to my wireless network via a multi-port wireless access point. It streams across the network at 3000+ Kbps. Surprisingly, there's about a 10 second delay between the Slingbox source input and the Slingplayer on the computer. I haven't played with the remote viewing capabilities, but I didn't buy it for that purpose. All in all, it fits my needs quite nicely.
