What if you were able to watch live television wherever you go? The World Series in your cube. MSNBC breaking news at the coffeeshop. Your local news station halfway around the world. Lost in Hawaii. Emeril Live in your kitchen.

Now what if we told you that you could do that without having to lug a television, a cable box, a satellite dish, or a subscription along with you? In fact, you dont need anything besides your laptop (which is attached to your hip already).

Thats because back home, you have a Slingbox sitting on top of your television. The simple silver device looks suspiciously like a gigantic chocolate bar, but the technology inside is truly sweet. This award-winning gadget is a breakthrough device that enables you to watch and control your living room television programming from anywhere by turning any Internet-connected laptop, desktop, PDA, or smartphone into a personal television.

With a wave of a virtual magic wand, Slingbox placeshifts the television signal from your source device to your PC located at home or 3,000 miles away via the Internet. Thanks to the Slingbox, you can enjoy your home TV programming wherever you are the office, a hotel room, your garden, even the bathroom anywhere there is an Internet connection. You truly can watch and control your television anytime, anywhere the power is in your hands.

The SlingPlayer software works hand-in-hand with the hardware in the Slingbox to allow you to watch and control your TV on your computer. SlingRemote in SlingPlayergives you full control over virtually any A/V device, from changing channels and viewing recorded content to fast-forwarding or setting up a season pass. So while your TV and Slingbox sit at home, you can be out and about with SlingPlayer.

We believe that watching your TV is about, well, you. Thats why your remote control is your own, your favorite channels are your own, and your video signal is just the way you like it.

Best of all, your Slingbox works seamlessly with your existing home theater setup and PC technologies no new cables required!

We support literally thousands of devices. Slingbox is compatible with TiVo's DVR, Comcast's Motorola DVR, Replay TV, Ultimate TV, DISH, DirecTV, and more. Whatever youve got, were sure the Slingbox can handle it!

What's Cool About Slingbox?

Easy to use and set up, with automatic device discovery and a setup wizard that walks you through the process step-by-step.

Get TV on an unlimited number of PCs* without the hassle and cost of adding new hardware (i.e. TV tuner cards) and software drivers to every computer with no additional service fees.

Never get bored while waiting in line again! SlingPlayer Mobile enables you to watch the latest on your Internet-connected PDA or smartphone.

With a resizable window mode, full screen mode, and the Slingbar, our SlingPlayer software lets you watch your television however you want.

SlingStream optimization algorithms automatically adapt to changing network conditions to give you the best video quality consistently.

Absolutely zero subscription fees! All you need to begin watching your TV anywhere is your Slingbox. You dont need to buy another computer just to watch it, and there are no monthly, yearly, hourly, or split-secondly subscription fees. That means you dont have to feel guilty about watching TV all the time now. (Well, unless you want your significant other to still love you.) *Only one one person can connect to a Slingbox at a time.

Were scared of wires, too.

Slingbox is designed to fit seamlessly into your existing home theater setup and PC technologies. We support literally thousands of devices, so whatever youve got, were sure Slingbox can handle it.

Its easy to connect to your Slingbox. With the free Slingbox Finder service, you can see a list of all Slingboxes on your network, and whether theyre available or in-use already. Scroll down the list and select yours, then hit connect!

Better yet, installing it is a piece of cake. We wont make you rewire the entire house, wait around for someone all morning, or purchase extra required pieces. The Setup Wizard automatically discovers and configures your Slingbox for the device that it is connected to, and walks you through the process step-by-step. In just four simple steps, Slingbox is good to go.

  1. Connect the TV source to the Slingbox.
  2. Connect the Slingbox to the Internet.
  3. Plug in the Slingbox power adapter.
  4. Load SlingPlayer software onto your PC.

You are now ready to view and control your TV programming via your Internet-connected desktop or laptop as if you were sitting in your living room, watching your TV source, and using its own remote control.

    Talk nerdy to me.

Slingbox is powered by a high-performance digital signal processor from Texas Instruments, and leverages Microsofts latest Windows Media Video technologies to provide superior video quality. Plus, our engineering dudes developed the SlingStream optimization algorithms that automatically adapt to changing network conditions. This means that we can give you the best video quality consistently, personalized to your connection. Our variety of S-Video, Coax, and Composite RCA inputs allows you to hook up basically anything you want to a Slingbox, and sling that signal around the world. Right now, the software works with Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/MCE computers, and we will be introducing Pocket PC, Smartphone, and Macintosh-compatible versions in the coming months.

Mac OS X Ready!!! All of the Slingbox family -TUNER, AV and PRO - are Mac OS X ready with the pending release of SlingPlayer for Mac OS X.

SlingPlayer for Mac OS X for G3, G4 and Intel based Macs will be available as a free download from Sling Medias web site in the near future. SlingPlayer for Mac OS X will be fully compatible with all Slingbox hardware - TUNER, AV and PRO and the Slingbox Original.

    5 of 5 SlingBox Rocks. Tuesday, October 31, 2006
    JLowe from Jacksonville, FL
Great product, works as advertised. Took just a lil bit of setting up to do, but now I watch TV anywhere I have the internet. Buy.com was great too. UPS dropped off my package but it was stolen from my front door. Buy.com replaced it within 2 weeks without charging me. Thanks!

5 of 5 My best purchase of the year! Saturday, October 28, 2006
    A Customer from Arlington, TX
I purchased this product for my two sons who no longer live in our area. With this product attached to our home cable box and internet router our sons can watch their favorite sports teams when their local tv network covers a different team. In addition, I can access my local tv programming whenever I travel. Installation and hookup was easy, and I was very pleased to see that all the necessary cables were included in the package. Video and audio is great! A high-speed connection is necessary otherwise the video will seem choppy.

5 of 5 Best Product for travelers Thursday, October 26, 2006
    Morris Dweck from Brooklyn. NY
Using slingbox giving you the ability to Place shift Tv is the best invention to come along for people who travel anywhere. It makes you feel like you are home away from home. Slingbox can be set up in minutes and the software does everything for you. This is my second slingbox because my son who is away at college is always using it to catch his home sports teams. In order to set up second box you do have to do a little more than basic set up. It doesn't ask if you are setting up a second one so you have to manually configure opening up a second port on your router and using a different ip address than the one suggested. For any traveler and especially any sports buff you will never know how you ever did without it once you get it.

This is my second slingbox purchase. I have found the product to be very easy to setup and use. I have called their customer service personnel twice and they were both courteous and helpful. The call was promptly answered.

Had no problems at all getting it setup and installed. Worked through my home router to my work with no issues or setup required. Makes the 5 hour backups I have to do monthly on a sunday night a breeze.

5 of 5 One of the Coolest Gadgets I Own Wednesday, October 18, 2006
    A Customer from Dover, DE
I had been looking at this product for a while but the price was too steep. Slingbox has introduced a new generation of Slingboxes so the original has been reduced in price making it worth my investment. I hooked it up according to the directions on the supplied installation poster. Fortunately I had a network switch near my video source. I would have had to pay extra for a set of wireless connection devices if not. Software installation was a snap. There was a firmware upgrade that I applied as part of the initial setup that went smoothly as well. The only negative so far is due to the fact that my router does not have Upnp capability so I have yet to figure out the port forwarding to sling from outside my home.

5 of 5 Performs as Billed Tuesday, October 17, 2006
    John from Taipei, Taiwan
Living overseas it is often impossible to find football games and often those that are shown are dubbed into the local language. While back on a business trip I set up the Sling Box and was able to watch my favorite team live this past weekend. Of course I had to get up at 4:00am but I wasn't disappointed. I might have to upgrade my connection but the full screen quality was not all that bad. Great product for the price. Set up a little more difficult than expected but can still be done by a novice.

    5 of 5 Awesome device!!!! Friday, October 13, 2006
    A Customer from Chandler, AZ
I think the Slingbox is worth every penny. I like being able to be away from home and watch my DirecTV anywhere I can hook up my laptop. I have NFL Sunday Ticket from DirecTV and if we are house sitting we can still watch all the football games on Sundays. This really rocks!!!

4 of 5 Slingbox works as advertised Thursday, October 12, 2006
A Customer from Redondo Beach, CA
The Slingbox works. Also, you can watch a program on your TV while a remote user watches the same program (e.g. out of town family watching a sporting event that you recorded on your DVR or that is not broadcast in their market). The video image is pretty good, but not perfect (kind of blotchy when viewed full screen).

    5 of 5 SLINGBOX ROX Thursday, October 12, 2006
    BILL from CHICAGOLAND
My sister and brother in law live in China now for his work, and they have braodband internet but poor quality of tv. On his request we bought and installed the Slingbox and Slinglink for them. It was incredibly easy to install, configure and run. He had some issues dowloading the slinglayer from the website (due to Chinese restrictions) but once he did load it he's hooked in! We're now looking at installing a DVR so they can record and watch whatever show's they'd like ANYTIME! Bottom line - watching cable via the internet is quick, easy and painless with the Slingbox!

4 of 5 It does what it says... Wednesday, October 11, 2006
    A Customer from Washington state
I used the Slingbox on both DSL and cable connections. The video quality was better than I was expecting. Keep in mind that your Internet router must have "Port Forwarding" capability to use this across the Internet. If you don't have port forwarding, you can only use the Slingbox on your private network, i.e., within the house the Slingbox is installed. Yes, I had to upgrade my router to have the benefits of broadcasting the video across the internet. Overall, I'm very happy with the product.

    5 of 5 AWESOME Wednesday, October 11, 2006
    A Customer from Passaic, NJ
This is a remarkable product. I am surprised they are not charging a monthly charge to use it like TiVO. Very easy to install and operate. The only negative is only one person can control it at a time.

5 of 5 Watch the sporting events you want from anywhere!! Wednesday, October 11, 2006
    A Customer from Evanston, IL
I recently moved away from where my favorite football and baseball teams play. I wanted to sign up for Direct TV and get the NFL Sunday Ticket so I could still watch the football games, but Direct TV's customer service and prices were such that it was more a of pain than it was w
