Singstar 80's is the latest title (along with Singstar Amped) in the long running series to make it to North America. This PS2 title takes hit songs and gives them the karaoke treatment allowing players to attempt to match a vocal performance in order to get a high score. Instead of a more "traditional" style of game, Sony takes the Singstar series into more of a party territory, where all of the songs are unlocked and ready to go at the onset. Players sing along with the song with indicators of where the pitch "should" be. As the song progresses and players sing, visual cues are given as to how well on target the singing is. The more a player's singing matches the song's vocal target pitch, the higher the score. Really simple - just sing along with the song...Naturally there are some songs that fit in better or others that you just won't like, but that's just the way it is with games of this type. I simply can't sing The Final Countdown with a straight face, and Do You Really Want To Hurt Me makes me cringe...Still, Singstar 80's is a great party game and a good expansion of the songlist from the other entries in the franchise. - Daniel Pelfrey
