2 of 5 Dont Buy Tuesday, May 01, 2007 A Customer from New York, NY
I bought this pen drive thinking its a great buy. It worked fine for couple months and then it started giving all sort of errors. I called Simple Tech Customer Service, was on Hold for over 35 min. The Customer services Tech said " JUST REFORMAT THE PEN DRIVE" and thats the only choice I had. I lost so much data. Would never buy a Simple Tech product again. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Not bad, though can be slow Tuesday, March 20, 2007 A Customer from E. Longmeadow, MA
As some others have pointed out, this flash drive can be painfully slow when writing small files (10-20 seconds per 30k file). I find it best to zip up what I want to transfer and then only transfer one large file, but even then the write speeds are not comparable to a USB hard drive. Read speeds are acceptable, so that make this fine for distributing files between multiple pc's. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 good working bootable flash drive Friday, December 29, 2006 nomadh from san diego ca
It looks nice and it can format with the hp tool to boot dos as a floppy or HD. I can boot dos, barts PE and reatogo's X-PE. Cannot boot a few older PCs but I am convinced that it is a problem in the target PC bios. This unit works great and is perfect for booting if you want to try it out. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Had My Doubts Tuesday, December 26, 2006 April from Phoenix, AZ
You read the reviews of this product and of other flash drives and get worried about the performance, etc. Did not want to feel like I got what I paid for. But this is a great drive. You need to get one. Was this review helpful?

After seeing Internet chatter that this drive is slow, I tested the one I have that is going to my nephew for Xmas. I filled up all 1Gb with 6 folders full of 7 CD's worth of MP3's (64 files) at 320 kbps and it took less than 3 minutes. Was this review helpful?

As others have pointed out, this drive is very slow. Easily the slowest of 4 flash drives that I have, particularly when trying to write a number of small files. It appears to be much faster writing a single large file than many small ones. Good for backup or occasional use, but it won't be my prime drive. Was this review helpful?

Easy to use. Just plug n play. But the transfer speed is not that much good. Copied 1GB mp3 files to flash drive and it took somewhere around 10 - 12 minutes. This is too slow when compared to Kingston 1GB Data Traveler USB 2.0 Flash Drive, which took just 2-3 minutes to transfer the same files. Was this review helpful?

This is a great drive and the price makes it that much better. I just bought one and noticed that a Kingston's drive has a much slower read/write speed than this drive and that is the reason i bought it. Design does not matter to me but I am excited that it is a good brand name and tech support is there. I highly recommend this drive and will pass this along to friends. Was this review helpful?

I didn't expect much but it's a neat drive. It said it is designed by someone but overall, the style is average. It does have a neat blue LED that constantly emits when plugged in. Some may get annoyed at it.
The only complaint is that, it was VERY SLOW. I have had a JumpDrive Sport, Mini Cruzer, and Voyager. This one was by far...the slowest. Was this review helpful?

This drive is slow but a good deal for the price. It took about 10 sec to transfer a 20mb file to this drive, compare that to 4 sec to my other Sony 1gb drive. So 2mb a sec was the findings on this test. Test two, this time I moved 125mb, 22 files in all, and it took 116 seconds thats 1.077mb a sec. I think this drive is only good for the average Joe User, one who does not use it heavily or maybe know the difference between a fast and a slow drive. Just fine for somebody's mom/dad or something like that. Was this review helpful?
3 of 3 customers found this review helpful. 3 of 5 Speed is not fast when transfer multiple files Friday, November 10, 2006 Yun from Columbia,SC
It looks well and the size is good.
However, the speed to transfer files is not fast.
When I transfer one single large file about 200M, it takes only 2min to write on it.
But when I transfer 100 small files with the size 20M in all, it takes me more than 20min to finish the data writing. It's really a waste of time when I want to save mutiple files into the flash drive.
But when you read the files out, it takes a short time.
If it is not because of the rebate and google checkout, this does not worth what you pay. Was this review helpful?

Not the smallest 1GB drive in today's terms. (As at Nov 2006)
Cap is very tight, and there are no grooves to help you grip onto the cap when you want to reveal the USB connector prior to use.
Dead-slow data transfers. Took perhaps 10X longer than my Transcend Jet Flash V30 to transfer 160MB of files. Reminds me of USB1.1 drives.
Relatively cheap price (if my rebates come through without problems) Was this review helpful?

It is very good drive, the speed is fast! 5kB/s, far behind my other flash drive such as kingston, sandisk. But it if you want wait for another 1 hour to copy 200MB files.
Highly recommended! Was this review helpful?
