Easy to install after downloading DiscWizard from the Seagate Website. Very disappointing that I am getting boot failures after only 992 hours. Used the SeaTools diagnostics, downloaded from the Seagate website, and the drive failed long tests. Helpful seagate chat sessions, but expected much more from this drive. Will find out how user friendly Seagate's warranty service is soon. Was this review helpful?

I received fast free shipping, received the drive in 2 days. Install was easy after downloading software and instructions form Seagate's web site. I bought this to upgrade my desktop system drive from a slow (5400RPM)40GB to the Seagate 250GB (7200RPM). Using the Seagate DiskWizard software on their site, I cloned everything in about 45 minutes, installed the new (cloned) drive, and booted up using the 250GB drive..... with Windows XP and all my software and data perfectly transferred and working great. And the higher speed makes file loads and writes noticably faster.
The key is the Seagate DiskWizard software and their clear and easy to follow simple directions. No surprises, and it worked perfectly the first time.
The only downside is that the drive is shipped with absolutely no directions or documentation and thus no hint that by going to the Seagate site you get access to DiskWizard and clear directions. Go to http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/ and download DiskWizard for a seamless installation.
BTW, I find that Buy.Com always delivers the right product at the right price, and on time. Kudos!

Easy install and ready to drop and go if you're installing as a slave drive. If you're replacing your boot drive, go to the Seagate website and download a copy of DiscWizard. DiscWizard is relatively intuitive, but if you understand a bit about partitioning, you may want to go "manual clone" instead of "automatic clone" so you'll have better control over your partition sizing. Overall, easy to do using DiscWizard (which doesn't come with the drive... had to search Seagate website to locate).

Installation was a snap (Dell 8100 running WinXP SP2). Drive is super quiet, very quick access (boot-up time has improved). Now all I hear is the CPU fan (Powerleap upgrade). This is my second, purchased to replace my failing OEM primary (windows, apps) drive (first was purchased to offload important data files, including pictures, videos, regular docs).
